James Alex Fields Jr., the suspect accused of killing one woman by ramming his car into a group of protesters demonstrating against a downtown Charlottesville white nationalist rally Saturday afternoon, was denied bond during his initial appearance in court Monday, according to reports.
CNN reports the 20-year-old Maumee, Ohio, native appeared via video in front of a Charlottesville judge wearing a black and white jumpsuit.
Fields is being held on charges of second-degree murder, malicious wounding and failure to stop in an accident that resulted in death.

If not for the heroic actions of her fiancé, a woman could have been seriously injured when a driver rammed his car into a group of protesters demonstrating against a downtown Charlottesville white nationalist rally Saturday afternoon.
Marissa Blair told The New York Times that her fiancé, Marcus Martin, pushed her out of the way of the oncoming vehicle. Although Blair walked away with just a scraped arm and a bruise on her leg, Martin attended the memorial service for 32-year-old fatal victim Heather Heyer in a wheelchair with a broken leg.

Everybody has their favorite Halloween snack -- candy corn, Twizzlers, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups -- but according to the results of our ultimate Halloween poll, there's one food nobody will be eating this year: Pea soup.
The results are in and with almost 16 thousand votes, there's no doubt about it: "The Exorcist" has been named as the overwhelming choice for Scariest Movie of All Time, defeating runner-up "Paranormal Activity" by a nearly two-to-one margin.
So what other frightful features tickled your terror bone? Well, despite only managing a distant fourth in the Scariest Movie of All Time category, "A Nightmare on Elm Street" took home top honors in the race for Best Horror Franchise of All Time, earning 32 percent of the votes compared to 25 percent for second place finisher "Halloween."
But the real fireworks were in the individual categories. It's no surprise, of course, that "Twilight"'s Edward Cullen and...

If you have Netflix and are a horror fan in need of something to watch this Labor Day weekend, one look at this gargantuan list I compiled of the new terror titles Netflix has added for instant streaming in just the first three days of this month should keep you busy until Labor Day next year. You'll find something for everyone, from older titles to recent releases, famous to obscure, classic to not-so-classic, monsters to maniacs - you name it.
For the record, I considered compiling this list in alphabetical order or by year of the film's release, but then I realized I had already spent well over an hour just sorting through the massive catalogue of titles Netflix has now made available for instant streaming and realized Labor Day would be over by the time I finished arranging this list in any kind of order. Ready? Here you go.

The first decade of the new millennium has come to an end, and that means it is now time for film sites all over the web to begin posting their various retrospectives and lists recalling the decade that was. I generally as a rule dislike such lists because they are always so subjective. Then I said screw it and took it upon myself to do one of my own naming the ten worst horror movies of the past decade. Besides, people love bitching on the Internet about lists like this, and who am I to deny readers yet another excuse to get into pointless flame wars over personal opinions.
Of course, this list is just my personal opinion which is not legally binding ... unless Proposition 304 passes. And we all pray that it will.
I set two rules when putting this list together: Only horror movies that received fairly wide theatrical...

Most comic book adaptations in the past few years go for a darker tone without leaving a touch of the "wham, bam" action sequences. But, if you are expecting something like "The Dark Knight" out of "Watchmen", you couldn't be so wrong. This graphic novel adaptation has been from the beginning holding out a premise that it will be one grim, dark and complex comic book movie like none others.
What makes "Watchmen" unique? It presents gut-wrenching violence and intricate storyline, does not eliminate horrific subjects from rape to impotency, and unlike any other comic book adaptations before it, lays in the open the humane side of the costumed-heroes. It digs in the heroes' state of mind, reveals the real motivation behind their vigilante acts, displays how they turn their back on each other to achieve their goal and shows their flaws.
Under the capable hands of director Zack Snyder,...
