Kate Hill was told she may never conceive due to her polycystic ovary syndrome — but she ended up conceiving twice in 10 days, making medical history.
Kate went on hormones, and after having unprotected sex with her husband Peter, she ended up getting pregnant. She began ovulating again during her pregnancy, and conceived a second time 10 days later with the remaining sperm from their initial intercourse.

It was a year ago that the first chills from "The Witch" were felt. Robert Eggers' film debuted at the Sundance Film Festival, where it became the talk of Park City, presenting a wholly unique horror built on a foreboding atmosphere. The movie is a welcome reprieve from the jump scares that populate most scary flicks these days, and one of the elements that enhances its haunting feeling is the score composed by Mark Korven. Read More: Sundance Review: The Exquisite Holy Terror Of 'The Witch' Will Chill Your Bones & Haunt Your Soul Performed by Korven along with Katherine Hill, Ben Grossman and The Element Choir, the music is both operatic and sinister, with layered voices and off-kilter tones conjuring the colonial era in which the film takes place. And the exclusive track below, "Caleb's Seduction," is a nice preview not just of Korven's work, but of...

As she arrives for the Oscars, the producer of The Master and Zero Dark Thirty is no longer the mystery she was
Photographers should be able to recognise Megan Ellison as she arrives at the Oscars this Sunday. Dark-haired and a young-looking 27, the producer of two of the year's most contentious films – The Master and Zero Dark Thirty – is no longer the mystery she was a couple of years ago. Yet the most powerful new force in Hollywood may still go unnoticed.
"She's incredibly self-effacing," says JoAnne Sellar, another of The Master's producers, who has worked with that film's director, Paul Thomas Anderson, throughout his career. "If you ran into her on set, you'd assume she was someone's Pa."
For an industry fond of tales of secretive billionaires with extravagant superpowers, there is something strangely fitting about the rise of Ellison, the daughter of software tycoon Larry Ellison, third wealthiest man in America.

Boarding schools seem to be a hotbed of sexual experimentation, at least that's how it seems from watching them on film. Interestingly, it's a trend that doesn't seem to be going away anytime soon. We've seen all-girls dormitories as a plot device since the 1930s, and yet there have been three released in the last year alone. Is it a coincidence that four out of eight of our Best Lesbian Boarding School Movies are directed and/or written by out women, two of which are said to be based on real life stories? Seems as if boarding schools might not be punishment as much as they are places to find your first love.

Entertainment One will release the psychological drama-thriller film Waking Madison, starring Sarah Roemer (The Con Artist) and Elisabeth Shue (Piranha), on DVD July 12.
Sarah Roemer tries to keep in together in Waking Madison.
In the movie, Madison (Roemer) is a New Orleans phone sex operator who’s doing everything she can to lead a normal life. When a series of events leaves Madison suicidal and desperate, she locks herself away in her apartment for 30 days. Using a video camera to document herself like a visual journal, Madison vows that if she does not have the answer to her questions and feel more at peace with her life, she will kill herself on the 30th day. Will she be able to piece her life together? Are the people in her life real at all or are they merely figments of her disordered and fragmented mind?

Surreal and repressive, Mädchen in Uniform (1958) is the Technicolor remake of the dramatic — and downright shocking — 1931 German lesbian film of the same name. The story of a young woman who falls deeply in love with her teacher, it’s at once quaint and stirring.
Manuela (Romy Schneider) is the girl in question. It’s 1910, Prussia, and she’s just lost her mother. Her strict aunt brings her to a boarding school/convent to “learn discipline,” and the free-spirited youth immediately finds it a cold, unfriendly place. Run by the tyrannical Senior Superior, it's billed as the place where girls are turned into women who will be “fit to be soldiers’ mothers” – tough and ready for anything.
Discipline and suffering are the rules of the day. The kids are yelled at for the tiniest offense, physically disciplined, and given little love or affection by their cold fraeuleins (teachers). It's a direct commentary on the country's hard,...

Katherine Brooks' name was in the air yesterday — or, well, it was in every single Hollywood trade. The much-adored director of Loving Annabelle has been attached to a biopic about female jockey Julie Krone for some time, and yesterday we found out that casting is finally underway. The film will begin shooting in Michigan and New York in April.
Julie Krone is the first female jockey to win a triple crown race (Belmont Stakes, 1993), and the only female jockey to ever appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated. In 2000, she became the first woman to be inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame, and rightly so: Krone racked up 4,000 wins and $90 million in purse earnings during her illustrious career.
Katherine Brooks is not only directing the biopic, she's adapting the screenplay from Krone's autobiography, Riding For My Life, in which Krone says of herself: "As an athlete,...

It’s been seven years since the release of Seabiscuit, and apparently that’s plenty of time for Hollywood to reenter the world of horse racing.
The autobiography of jockey Julie Krone, the most successful female jockey in racing history, has been adapted into a screenplay entitled Freak.
Katherine Brooks has signed on to direct the film, saying that Krone’s personal triumphs are what drew her to the film more than her racing accomplishments.
The story of the only woman to ever win a Triple Crown race and be inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame, as well as having stacked up nearly four thousand wins and over $90 million in earnings to her name, Krone’s is definitely deserving of some screen time.
Freak will be filmed in New York and Michigan, with Gravity Films principal Sophie Watts producing alongside Brooks, and John Manulis serving as executive producer.

Gravity Films has attached Katherine Brooks to direct "Freak," based on the life of jockey Julie Krone.
Brooks also adapted the screenplay from Krone's autobiography, "Riding for My Life," which details her history as the only woman to have won a Triple Crown race (the 1993 Belmont Stakes) and be inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame. Krone is the most successful female jockey of all time, with nearly four thousand career wins and over $90 million in purse earnings.
Gravity Films principal Sophie Watts will produce along with Brooks; John Manulis will executive produce. Shooting is scheduled to begin in April in New York and Michigan.
"Julie is a freak of nature, and although I admire her accomplishments in racing, it is her personal triumphs that drew me to the project," said Brooks. "I can't relate to winning a Triple Crown race, but I can relate to fighting for an impossible dream.
