Acorn TV, the Anglophilic streaming service, has partnered with Paramount’s British broadcaster Channel 5 on a new three-part detective drama series starring Sharon D Clarke.
The two networks have ordered Ellis, a feature-length series that stars Clarke as the eponymous detective.

Jim Parker, a four-time BAFTA-winning composer whose credits included the original House of Cards and Midsomer Murders, has died aged 88 after a long illness.
Parker’s daughter Claire Parker issued a statement earlier today confirming the news and paying tribute.
“He wore his talent lightly and had a quiet passion and great sense of humour,” she said. “His ambition was, first and foremost, for audiences to enjoy his music. He was both well-respected and well-liked within the music and television industry, writing so many memorable theme tunes, and always giving 100% commitment.”
Born in Hartlepool in 1934, Parker started his career in a Britsh army band. He subsequently composed the music for Banana Blush, an album he made in 1974 with the poet John Betjeman, before turning to TV.

Just ahead of its fall season rollout, which launches tonight, the CW is already looking ahead, announcing its 2019 summer programming lineup. It features six original series — one new and five returning — including three acquired dramas, as the CW has renewed all of its summer 2018 series. It is one of the CW’s biggest slates of original shows specifically designated for the off-season. The network has acquired British action drama Bulletproof from Sky Vision and ordered second seasons of legal drama Burden of Truth, starring Kristin Kreuk, and fantasy-adventure series The Outpost. The CW has also ordered new seasons of the hit magic series Penn & Teller: Fool Us and Masters Of Illusion, and the classic improv comedy Whose Line Is It Anyway? all set for premiere in summer 2019. Premiere dates and times will be announced later.

Pike is an aspirational family man, the son of a decorated police officer who is determined to follow in his father’s footsteps, but not be in his shadow. Meanwhile, Bishop grew up in care homes and on the streets, and never knew his father. Despite these differences Bishop and Pike are bonded by the same moral code and work brilliantly well together even when the chemistry between them looks set to explode.
Allan Niblo Michele Buck Judy Counihan Nick Love Noel Clarke, and Ashley Walters executive produce. The series was co-funded by Sky’s distribution arm, Sky Vision, who control international rights.
Burden Of Truth, starring Kristin Kreuk, is a serialized investigative drama about life-altering legal cases. IFC Films and Entertainment One produces in association with Eagle Vision Inc. with executive producers Ilana Frank, Adam Pettle, Jocelyn Hamilton, Linda Pope and Kristin Kreuk.
Created by Kynan Griffin and Jason Faller, The Outpost, a fantasy-adventure series from Electric Entertainment and Arrowstorm Entertainment, executive producers Dean Devlin and Jonathan Glassner, follows Talon (Jessica Green), the lone survivor of a race called the “Blackbloods.” In a lawless fortress on the edge of the civilized world, Talon must learn to master her supernatural powers, and ally with a Queen who has been in hiding to defend the world against a fanatical religious dictator. Jake Stormoen, Imogen Waterhouse and Anand Desai-Barochia alsp star.
The Outpost also is executive produced by Electric Entertainment’s team of Marc Roskin and Rachel Olschan-Wilson and by Arrowstorm Entertainment’s team of Jason Faller and Kynan Griffin, the team behind the cult favorite Mythica films. Jennifer Griffin of Arrowstorm Entertainment is also producing.

The eight-episode limited series is currently in pre-production and will center on the War of the Roses as told from a female perspective. Set in 1485, it follows the rise of the House of Tudor and the rocky marriage between Princess Elizabeth of York and King Henry Tudor.
When rumors arise that Elizabeth's long-lost brother Prince Richard is alive and hoping to take back the throne, she must choose a side. The novel is the fifth in The Cousins' War book series. The second and third novels - "The Red Queen" and "The Lady of the Rivers" - were incorporated into the previous series while the fourth - "The Kingmaker's Daughter" - is a prequel to those events.

LONDON -- ITV said Friday it is planning a two-hour film titled After Morse in order to revisit the territory of Inspector Morse, one of the network's most popular characters, and also has new versions of Rumpole and Sharpe in the works. Inspector Morse, starring John Thaw, started in 1987 and ended with Thaw's death in 2000. Morse author Colin Dexter and Thaw's widow, actress Sheila Hancock have signed off on a new treatment that will center on Kevin Whately playing Morse's sidekick, Sergeant Lewis. Granada drama chief Michele Buck and many of the team who made the original shows, including executive producer Ted Childs and producer Chris Burt, will be involved. BAFTA-winner Albert Finney will take over as author John Mortimer's colorful barrister Rumpole following the death of Leo McKern in 2002. Sean Bean will return as soldier Sharpe in an original story based on the character created by novelist Bernard Cornwell.
