“On the Boat Again” borrows the chorus melody of Nelson’s 1980 touring anthem “On the Road Again,” changing the lyrics to summon that most cherished of Southern weekend outings: boat day. “On the boat again/I just...

Writer David Grann is one of the premier nonfiction storytellers of our time. His bestseller The Lost City of Z transported readers into the Amazon on a quest for a mythical civilization (and became a 2016 movie starring Charlie Hunnam). He followed up in 2017 with The Killers of the Flower Moon, a blistering investigation into a series of unsolved murders of members of the Osage tribe in Oklahoma during the early 1900s (the film adaptation, directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, premieres at Cannes this month). As one of the most popular songs from One Thing at a Time, Wallen released “Days that End in Why,” co-written by Blake Pendergrass, Driver Williams, and John Byron.
The country track detailed a couple post-breakup. The narrator wondered why his girlfriend left and, instead of getting an answer, turned to alcohol.
“I know how a goodbye sounds when it’s pedal down in tail light glow,” Wallen sings in the chorus. “I know what she said, and I won’t forget where she told me to go / But,...

The 2013 Cmt Music Awards have come to a close, but the evening didn't go off exactly as planned. One scheduled performer was noticeably absent, though it wasn't without cause.
Country music legend George Strait canceled his scheduled performance at the evening's festivities following the death of his father, John Byron Strait, who passed away on Tuesday (June 4) at the age of 91.
"We are grateful for the time over the last few weeks we were able to spend with Daddy before he passed away," Strait explained to fans in a statement on his website. "I want to thank everyone for their prayers and support during this difficult time as we mourn our family's loss."
In lieu of gifts, Strait asked that donations be made to the Jennifer Strait Memorial Foundation, named in honor of his niece. Funeral services are being kept private.
