Shaun Cassidy is remembering all the "extraordinary days" he shared with his late half-brother, David Cassidy.
One day after news broke that David had died at the age of 67 following organ failure and a two-year battle with dementia, Shaun took to Twitter to share a heartbreaking tribute.
"When I was a little boy and my big brother would come to visit, the first call of business would be a punishing pillow fight," he wrote. "During the battle, he would regale me with hysterical stories of our father, often culminating in his taking a giant leap off my top bunk..."
"I tried to catch him of course. I always tried to catch him. But I never could," he continued. "Now, I will carry him, along with all of the funny/sad/extraordinary days we shared, none more filled with love than these last few at his side."

Kate’s Classical Corner: Hannibal, Ep. 3.06, “Dolce”
As a classical musician, I can’t help but be influenced in my interpretation of Hannibal by its amazing score and soundtrack, composed and compiled by music supervisor Brian Reitzell. This is not intended to be a definitive reading of Reitzell or showrunner Bryan Fuller’s intentions in regards to the music, but rather an exploration of how these choices affect my appreciation of the given episode. Read my review of “Dolce” here.
Notturno in E-flat major, Op. 148 by Franz Schubert (1827): Cordell presents Mason with culinary options
This lovely piece for piano trio was likely chosen by Reitzell purely for its beauty, but it is also appropriate as a piece that feels inevitably repetitious, with the theme circling back on itself and the larger form of the piece doing so as well. This ties in nicely with the episode’s themes of...

Calvary
Patrick Cassidy
Varese Sarabande Records
“You have to detach yourself.” That’s the advice Brendan Gleeson’s scruffy pillar of a priest gives to a fellow clergyman in Calvary, the second film from John Michael McDonagh, who’s quickly and quietly expanding beyond his notoriety as “Martin McDonagh’s brother.” Calvary dumps a truckload of guilt on the doorstep of Father James and then sits back and watches him squirm at the sight. There’s little sense in a man, once abused by the clergy as a child, executing one of the church’s blameless — and Father James is told as much by his faceless accuser in Calvary‘s opening minutes. Good luck with that whole detachment thing.
Those outside of Ireland’s Classical charts won’t recognize Patrick Cassidy’s name, but his under-the-radar status (and slim filmography) is in step with an anonymous composition style. Across the pond,...

In the midst of his confession, a man promises to kill Father James (Brendan Gleeson) in one week's time. Not because he's a bad priest, but because he's an innocent priest. His reasoning comes as the result of being raped for several years by a priest when he was a young boy and while the man responsible for such deplorable acts has now died, this confessor believes to kill the criminal would have been worthless anyway, but to kill an innocent priestc Well, that would turn some heads. These are the opening moments of John Michael McDonagh's sophomore effort Calvary, a movie that left me emotionally rattled in a way I can't say I've experienced in some time. Set in a small Irish village, McDonagh makes good use of a small number of locals, touching on a wealth of societal touchstones including religion, drug abuse, banking scandals, adultery, domestic...
