Chicago – Ten years ago, an Independent film was released in Chicago, co-written and co-directed by Richard Knight Jr., an entertainment fixture in the Windy City. “Scrooge & Marley” offered a bit more than the previous versions of the familiar “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens, it was the first to filter the story through same sex coupling and LGBTQ+ themes. A new staged version of the film, complete with the featured songs, will be presented at Chicago’s Center on Halsted on December 12th, 2022, at 7pm. It’s a Free event, register for tickets by clicking Scrooge & Marley.
The 10th Anniversary DVD edition of “Scrooge & Marley” has also been released by Dark Star Pictures, with special features and cast interviews, as well as a new digital download available. Click here for The Trailer.

Amazon’s TV series based on the 1992 film A League of Their Own won’t necessarily have the same characters who hit a home run in the 1992 film.

The Bentonville Film Festival capped off its second annual event this past weekend with a softball game, featuring many members of a team that filmgoers know well: The Rockford Peaches from "A League of Their Own."
Arkansas Online reported that the Peaches reunion was spearheaded by Geena Davis, who played catcher Dottie Hinson in the 1992 flick about the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. Davis, who co-founded the film festival in 2015 to highlight female and diverse filmmakers, gathered her former castmates on Sunday at Arkansas's Arvest Ballpark for a spirited game to celebrate the festival's wrap -- and stir up some friendly competition, too.

This week's Huddle is inspired by Flavorwire's list of Film's Most Awkward Couples, including Rosie O'Donnell and Dan Aykroyd in Exit to Eden. While we can agree with that weirdness as well as most of the others on their list, there are plenty of awkward pairings we can come up with, too — including some lesbian twosomes.
Dana Picolli: Papi and Kit from The L Word. What in the hell were they thinking with this one? I remember screaming "Nooooooo!" at my screen during their awkward hook up. Kit was so kick ass, and the whole thing felt so forced. She deserved better than that. Shortly after that, Papi walked off into the West Hollywood sunset, never to be seen or heard from again.
Heather Hogan: Tobias and Lindsay Funke! They're the most ridiculous/hilarious awkward couple in history!

Chicago – Bring up the immortal classic “A Christmas Carol,” by author Charles Dickens, then bring up how many film and TV versions have been done using its basic story. After a half hour of listing every conceivable production, a gay version won’t be found. “Scrooge & Marley” is the new film that takes care of that category. The premiere was last week in Chicago at the Music Box Theatre.

Next month, "A League of Their Own," celebrates its 20th (!) anniversary. The consummate female baseball flick --which stars Tom Hanks, Geena Davis, Lori Petty, Madonna, Rosie O'Donnell and Jon Lovitz -- follows two sisters (Davis and Petty) who join the first female professional baseball league. The 1992 film, directed by Penny Marshall, quickly became a critical and commercial success. However, while "A League of Their Own" certainly dedicates a lot of screen time to the great American pastime, some of the movie's most memorable scenes happened off the field. Marla Hooch (Megan Cavanagh), the team's homely star hitter, came out of her shell when the girls broke out of their lodgings -- poisoning poor Miss Cuthbert -- and drunkenly sang "It Had To Be You" at the local bar, The Suds Bucket. While you, diehard "Loto" fan, may do your own rendition of Marla's performance -- ("I'm singing to Nelson!") --...

Writer-producer Michelle Paradise is one smart, funny and patient lady. Her lesbian series, Exes & Ohs, first aired on Logo in 2009, and fans promptly fell in love with Jen, the single girl looking for love; Sam, the player who never met a hot girl she didn't like; Crutch, the babydyke with a guitar and a dream; and Chris and Kris, a couple who share a name, a home, and a love of animals bordering on maniacal.

A League of Their Own (1992) There's no crying in baseball! Synopsis When WWII steals all our base-running-capable men, one junk food magnet has the foresight to realize that women can also pick up a bat and play the game. Jon Lovitz does some "acting!" and recruits a crew of women who will come together to form the four teams of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League including two sisters who form the heart of The Rockford Peaches. While they form the heart, Tom Hanks forms the gut. Why We Love It It is rarer and rarer that a movie like this is even made. I'd even go far to say that they don't make 'em like this anymore, but that would sound cliche, and you'd think I'd be able to come up with something more original. Well, I can't. But the point still stands. Director Penny Marshall has made a movie that's funnier than most comedies and...
