Last year, author R. G. Henning sent the book Sackhead: The Definitive Retrospective on Friday the 13th Part 2 – a 277 page book entirely dedicated to 1981’s Friday the 13th Part 2 – out into the world, and you can pick up a copy of Sackhead at This Link. Now Henning has turned his attention to the next sequel in the franchise, 1982’s Friday the 13th Part III, with the retrospective book Jason 3D: A Comprehensive Exposé on Friday the 13th Part 3, and copies are available for purchase on Amazon! The book is currently going for the price of $18.99.
Jason 3D has the following description: In 1982-83, the 3-D movie craze took the American box office by storm. Spurred on by new three-dimensional projection technology, Hollywood studios gambled on genre films. By 1984, however, most 3-D features had flopped, and audiences soon lost interest. But one unlikely contender managed to outshine the others—Friday...

Now Henning has revealed that he’s hard at work on a new Friday the 13th retrospective book. This one is going to be called Jason 3D: A Comprehensive Exposé on Friday the 13th Part III, and will cover Friday the 13th Part III (buy the franchise Blu-ray set Here) in the same way Sackhead covered Part 2.
Henning told members of the Packanack Lodge: Friday The 13th Part 2 (1981) Facebook group that he’s currently three and half chapters into writing Jason 3D, and estimates that he has nine or so chapters left to go. The plan is to get the book published...

It’s time for a new episode of the Real Slashers video series, and with this one we’re looking back at my personal favorite entry in my favorite franchise: Friday the 13th Part III (buy the franchise Blu-ray set Here). You can find out all about it by watching the video embedded above!
Directed by Steve Miner from a screenplay by Martin Kitrosser and Carol Watson (with some uncredited polishing by Petru Popescu), Friday the 13th Part III has the following synopsis: The third installment in the “Friday the 13th” series picks up on the day after the carnage with homicidal maniac Jason Voorhees stealing some clothes and killing a local store owner. Meanwhile, Chris and her sometimes boyfriend, Rick, are hosting a group of teenage friends at Chris’ lake house. Despite a run-in with a local biker gang, they enjoy an amiable weekend together — that is, until Jason...

The Friday the 13th franchise (buy the Blu-ray set Here) is my favorite horror franchise. And while Jason Lives: Friday the 13th Part VI is the movie I credit with making me a horror fan, my favorite entry in the series is actually Friday the 13th Part III. The film just celebrated its 40th anniversary last month, and to mark the occasion 2nd assistant camera operator Mako Koiwai shared a batch of awesome, never-before-seen behind-the-scenes pictures with the folks at Smoking Zombie Films. You can see these eight images, including an incredible shot of the filming of the alternate ending (where the heroine was going to be decapitated), in this Facebook post – click Here.
Thanks to Mako Koiwai and Smoking Zombie Films for sharing these pictures!

We were incredibly bummed to learn earlier this year that Gloria Charles, best known for playing badass biker Fox in Friday the 13th: Part 3, had passed away back in December of last year. Fox is unquestionably one of the coolest characters in the franchise, and Charles’ performance may soon be immortalized in Friday the […]...

Sometimes you wanna go where you know everybody’s name. For diehard fans, that’s the fun of revisiting Friday The 13th. Even if you’ve heard or read some of the stories contained in His Name Was Jason at conventions, in books like Peter Bracke’s Crystal Lake Memories and the documentaries, etc. included on the 2004 Friday DVD box, there’s still a weird lust for some of us to search for undiscovered livers and gizzards in the franchise’s body.
On the other corkscrewed hand, those who haven’t had the chance to check out the books and documentaries are in for a serious treat with His Name, out February 3 in a double-dvd set from Anchor Bay (Pre-Order Here). Director Dan Farrands (screenwriter of The Girl Next Door and Halloween: The Curse Of Michael Myers) and writer/producers Anthony Masi (who explored another archetypal slasher with Halloween: 25 Years Of Terror...
