Every few months, someone seems to ask either the show’s creator Bryan Fuller or series star Mads Mikkelsen what’s going on with their hoped-for revival of Hannibal. Eight years have gone by since NBC cancelled the television series, which was inspired by characters in novels by Thomas Harris, after its third season, but Fuller, Mikkelsen, and fellow star Hugh Dancy have always let it be known that they’re hoping to reunite to make a fourth season at a new home. Eight months ago, Mikkelsen said, “It’s all about finding a home for it. Of course, we’re running out of time. We can’t wait twenty years, but in the next couple of years, if somebody finds a home, I think we’re all ready to take it up again.” Now, during an interview with Business Insider, Mikkelsen has given an update, saying there’s still...

Almost eight years have gone by since NBC cancelled the television series Hannibal, which was created by Bryan Fuller and inspired by characters in novels by Thomas Harris, after its third season. Ever since, Fuller and stars Mads Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy have been joining fans in hoping that Hannibal will be able to continue on some other network or streaming service someday. Talking to Deadline while on the red carpet for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Mikkelsen said there’s still a chance that a Hannibal revival will happen… but they’re running out of time.
Asked if there’s ever any chance he’d play Hannibal again, Mikkelsen told Deadline, “Always a chance. There’s always a chance. It’s all about finding a home for it. Of course, we’re running out of time. We can’t wait twenty years, but in the next couple of years,...

When the original Dexter concluded in 2013 with the titular character relocated to the Pacific Northwest, many viewers didn’t like the way the crime drama ended.
When the series returned eight years later, the final episode was equally as disappointing. If a certain showrunner had had his way, Dexter fans would have been treated to a far more satisfying conclusion, and Dexter: New Blood would not have happened at all.

Dexter’s Michael C. Hall looks chilling in the key art for Showtime’s upcoming revival Dexter: New Blood.
To celebrate the original series 15th anniversary on Friday, Showtime dropped two pieces of key art for Dexter’s next chapter, which is set to debut on November 7 at 9 p.m. Et/Pt.
Dexter, which aired for eight seasons on Showtime from 2006-13, centered on the mild-mannered Dexter Morgan (Hall). By day, Dexter worked as a blood-spatter analyst for the Miami police. By night, he was a serial killer—one who happened to target other murderers.
Set 10 years after Dexter went missing in the eye of Hurricane Laura, Dexter: New Blood finds the titular character living under an assumed name in the fictional small town of Iron Lake, New York. Dexter may be embracing his new life, but in the wake of unexpected events in this close-knit community, his Dark Passenger inevitably beckons.

Showtime released the official trailer for the upcoming event series Dexter: New Blood, providing more than a few clues about what longtime fans of the killer show can expect.
For starters, Michael C. Hall’s Dexter Morgan clearly hasn’t outrun his Dark Passenger. “Monsters walk among us,” Dexter says in voiceover, after we’ve seen that a serial killer – the exact type that the avenging Dexter has always chosen as his victims – has been stalking his new Upstate New York territory. “I might still be a monster, but I’m an evolving monster.”
And just to make absolutely certain we get the sharp-edged point, we see Dex sharpening a meat cleaver, and hear his long-suffering sister Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) ask, “You can not wait to kill again – have you learned nothing?”

Jennifer Carpenter is set to return to “Dexter” in Showtime’s limited-series revival, a person with knowledge of the plans confirmed to TheWrap. Her character, serial killer Dexter Morgan’s sister Deb, was killed off in the 2013 series finale, which was pretty widely panned.
Showtime declined to comment on this story.
As previously reported, titular star Michael C. Hall is also on board for the show’s return. As is Clyde Phillips, who will return as showrunner for the 10-episode return, which is tentatively set to premiere this fall.
Phillips ran the eight-season show through its first four seasons. Those were the “Dexter” glory days, when the series routinely got nominated for Emmy awards, including Outstanding Drama Series. “Dexter” cycled through various showrunners after Phillips’ departure.

Exclusive: David Magidoff (The Morning Show) has been added to the cast of Showtime’s Dexter revival set in the upstate New York town of Iron Lake.
He will co-star opposite Michael C. Hall, Clancy Brown, Julia Jones, Alano Miller, Johnny Sequoyah and Jack Alcott in the 10-episode limited series, which begins production next month in Massachusetts.
Magidoff will play Teddy. The new guy. Been a cop in Iron Lake for two and a half weeks… really. Good-natured, quirky, hardworking, eager to please; and a little scared of his boss, Police Chief Angela Bishop (Jones). At first glance, he seems timid and inexperienced, but when the rubber hits the road, he’s a dependable badass…in his own way.
The original series, which ran from 2008-13 and remains one of Showtime’s signature dramas, followed Dexter Morgan (Hall), a complicated and conflicted blood-spatter expert for the Miami Police Department who moonlighted as a serial killer.

You won’t find many people who loved the 2013 series finale of “Dexter,” which left everybody’s favorite serial killer in a self-imposed isolation as a lumberjack. But Michael C. Hall, who played Dexter Morgan over eight seasons of the Showtime series, hopes the upcoming revival can make up for it.
“Let’s be real: people found the way that show left things pretty unsatisfying, and there’s always been a hope that a story would emerge that would be worth telling,” Hall told The Daily Beast in an interview published Monday. “I include myself in the group of people that wondered, ‘What the hell happened to that guy?’ So I’m excited to step back into it. I’ve never had that experience of playing a character this many years on.”

Wgn America is adding to its Prime Crime slate with the acquisition of two original series in the detective procedural genre — the comedic Carter, starring Jerry O’Connell (Billions), Sydney Poitier Heartsong (Chicago P.D.) and Kristian Bruun (Orphan Black), which will premiere August 7, and crime drama Gone, starring Chris Noth (The Good Wife), Leven Ramblin (The Hunger Games) and Danny Pino (CSI: Miami), for debut in early 2019.
Carter and Gone are part of Wgn America’s new programming strategy of cost-effective originals launched a year ago that involves acquisitions of already produced series, virtually all in the crime arena. The two new pickups represent a new element in the tactic. While all previous acquisitions have been foreign series — 2017 Canadian detective drama Bellevue starring Anna Paquin, 2015 Swedish-American thriller 100 Code, 2016 Canadian police series Shoot the Messenger and the 2017 Canadian drama Pure — Carter and Gone, while having international pedigree, both originated in the U.

I wasn't very happy with the way Showtime ended Dexter. It was a very disappointing conclusion to an amazing series. That being said, if they ever get a spin-off into development and made I would watch it! It's something the network wants to do, but according to Showtime entertainment president David Nevins, it's not going to happen unless Michael C. Hall is involved.
During a recent press conference he told reporters the following,

As part of its most recent "Ask Ausiello" spoilers column, TVLine shed a bit of light on the upcoming Season 2 of "Hannibal," including when we'll next see fan favorite Gillian Anderson on the show...
Per the site, we won't have to wait long as Anderson will be back as Hannibal Lecter's (Mads Mikkelsen) shrink, Dr. Bedelia Du Maurier, in the first two episodes.
Joining her this season are the already announced guest stars Martin Donovan ("Weeds") as Jack Crawford's (Laurence Fishburne) FBI shrink while Cynthia Nixon ("Sex and the City") will appear as Kade Purnell, an employee of the Office of the Inspector General in FBI Oversight who will be putting Jack under a microscope for his involvement with recent events involving Will (Hugh Dancy).
Speaking of Fishburne, TVLine confirmed that while he has signed on to an HBO project that's in its early stages, it will have no impact on his Season 2 "Hannibal" schedule.

Well now, here's something to be thankful for: Eddie Izzard has confirmed that he will be returning in Season 2 of NBC's "Hannibal"! All we need now is for the network to finally announce the show's return date, and we'll be really happy.
"I will be back," Izzard told Digital Spy while promoting his latest comedy tour, "Force Majeure." "Everyone's given me great feedback on 'Hannibal,' and I've only done two episodes - I really let go in that one!"
"Hannibal" will return in early 2014 with a 13-episode season that begins with Episode 2.01, “Kaiseki” (a traditional multi-course Japanese dinner).
“Hannibal,” starring Hugh Dancy as Will Graham and Mads Mikkelsen as Hannibal Lecter, was developed for television by Bryan Fuller, who also serves as writer and executive producer. “I just know there’s something dark in me and I hide it. I certainly don’t talk about it, but it’s there always, this…dark passenger. And when he’s driving, I feel alive, half sick with the thrill of complete wrongness.

Or is that just a lie the Dark Passenger tells me? Because lately there are these moments when I feel connected to something else… someone. It’s like the mask is slipping and things… people… who never mattered before are suddenly starting to matter. It scares the hell out of me”

Still bummed about last night’s goodbye? Find out the reasoning behind the final episode’s big death.
Throughout its eight-season run on Showtime, Dexter has always been about death, so it’s only natural that the show’s Sept. 22 series finale involved the most important death of all — even if it wasn’t the victim many fans had been anticipating for years.
Considering how many kills Dexter (Michael C. Hall) has racked up over the years, many speculated that he, himself, would finally meet his end on the show’s last episode — but as we saw, that just wasn’t in the cards.
‘Dexter’ Series Finale: Why Debra Had To Die
Dexter’s sister Debra (Jennifer Carpenter) ended up dying on the finale, a combination of last week’s gunshot wound and Dexter literally pulling the plug on her to avoid her becoming a vegetable forever.

We've spent eight seasons riding along with Dexter's Dark Passenger, and come this Sunday (Sept. 22), we will have to say our final goodbyes as the "Dexter" series finale airs at 9 p.m. Et on Showtime.
We have watched Dexter transform from a true psychopathic murderer into a semi-functioning, real human being with emotions via his connections with his family and loved ones -- though he still can't shake that pesky need to kill. But when the series first aired eight years ago, none of the stars ever imagined the show would continue on for this long and come this far.
"I thought that if we got the tone right it would develop some sort of cult following, but not as big of a cult as it's become," series star Michael C. Hall tells Zap2it. "I had just done a series that was very successful that went on for...

The people who bring "Dexter" to life visit "The Writers' Room" on Monday (Aug. 12), and it appears they like their dialogue short and not so sweet.
In this clip from the Sundance Channel series (which is exclusive to Zap2it), host Jim Rash asks "Dexter" star Michael C. Hall and the show's writers and producers what their favorite line from the series is. Rather than some artfully written monologue, they agree on two lines, totaling just five words. One is "Surprise, motherf***er!," delivered by Doakes (Erik King) in the Season 7 finale that takes its title from the line.
The other comes from John Lithgow in the Season 4 episode "Hungry Man." An unbelievably tense Thanksgiving dinner is punctuated by Arthur (Lithgow) telling his wife (Julia Campbell) to shut up, followed by just about the worst thing you can call a woman. Showtime's "Dexter" panel at San Diego Comic-Con was particularly emotional for fans as the cast and producers took the stage to say goodbye to the show. "Dexter" is currently in its eighth and final season, and cast members old and new discussed what it's like leaving the show behind.
The large panel included Jennifer Carpenter (Debra Morgan), Aimee Garcia (Jamie Batista), Desmond Harrington (Joey Quinn), Yvonne Strahovsky (Hannah McKay), David Zayas (Angel Batista) Lauren Velez (Maria Laguerta), and of course Dexter Morgan himself, Michael C. Hall.
The panel also included some more surprising guests: Julie Benz, who played Rita Bennett during the show's first four seasons, and Erik King, who portrayed James Doakes during the first two.
"Dexter" wrapped up shooting last week, and the cast agrees that it hasn't yet settled in. "I don't think it's a feeling that any of us have really processed yet," says executive producer Sara Colleton.

It was a wake for a serial killer as Comic-Con bid farewell to Dexter tonight in the huge Hall H. With the confab fave and Showtime flagship series in its eighth and final season, producers and cast said they still haven’t gotten their heads around the show being over. “I don’t think everyone has processed it yet,” executive producer Sara Colleton said today. “I don’t think it’s hit any of us that it is over,” she added. Panelists revealed that filming on the last episode wrapped last week. Dexter Morgan himself, Michael C. Hall, said he didn’t think the end of the show would hit him for at least six months. Having said that, despite numerous probing attempts from the audience in their questions, nothing was really revealed about how the show will end. What was revealed is that Dexter is going to be on sale this fall.
