The story of Mariah Carey’s rise to fame is getting a drama series treatment. We have learned that Starz is developing an untitled fictional scripted drama series based on the music superstar’s real-life experiences, with Carey executive producing alongside longtime friend Brett Ratner.
Written by Nina Colman (“Mahogany”), the drama is set in 1986 New York City and chronicles the rise of an ambitious bi-racial 16-year-old girl, an aspiring singer-songwriter who survived a difficult childhood to become the biggest selling female music artist of all time.
Colman, who will serve as showrunner, executive produces alongside Carey and Golden Globe nominee Stella Bulochnikov (“Boss”) via their Magic Carpet Productions as well as Ratner, Teri Weinberg (“Ugly Betty”) who previously had developed with Colman, and John Cheng (“Horrible Bosses”).

Up TV has ordered the new, scripted Date My Dad TV show to series. The first season of Date My Dad is described as a 10-episode family dramedy, following Ricky Parker, a single father raising three daughters: Mirabel (15), Elisa (13) and Gigi (10). Three years after their mother Isabella's death, their grandmother, Rosa, decides she is moving. The girls resolve to get a panicked and suddenly solo Dad back in dating scene, just in time for his 40th birthday.

Neophyte producer Bella Le and executive producer Robert Lewis Galinsky have enlisted a couple of key creatives from the Us to help adapt two Jessica Brody novels into a romantic comedy entitled The Fidelity Files.
Nina Colman will write the screenplay and Los Angeles-based Aaron Jackson will serve as a producer with Le.s Kardia Pictures.

Writer Nina Colman (Dr. Dolittle 3) has set up three projects at three different networks. She has teamed with producers Ben Silverman of Electus and Teri Weinberg of Yellow Brick Road for a comedy at NBC and a drama at Lifetime. The projects reunite Silverman and Weinberg, who worked together at Reveille and NBC. Tentatively titled Wtf, the NBC project, from Universal TV, is a dark comedy about four friends whose bad luck suddenly turns into a golden opportunity.
