Known in history as the woman who once refused to give up her bus seat to a white man, Rosa Parks is the mother of the civil rights movement. However, her legacy as an activist extends beyond that one moment that sparked a nationwide movement. Parks led a long life dedicated to the future she for, and an upcoming film will chronicle her eventful life.
"The Rebellious Life of Mrs. Rosa Parks," a documentary based on the best-selling biography by Jeanne Theoharis, takes a closer look at the life and achievements of Parks. In the official trailer, we get a sneak peek at the interviews and archival footage that illuminate her extensive battle against racial injustice and inequality. But when can you see it?...

Rita Wilson was honored earlier today with the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce’s Lifetime Achievement Award at the 20210 Installation Gala. I caught up with a the “Sleepless in Seattle” star, 64, yesterday to talk about her start in the business, being mentored by Nora Ephron and battling Covid with husband Tom Hanks during the early days of the pandemic.
When you heard the chamber wanted to give you the Lifetime Achievement Award, what goes through your head?
I was trying to count. I think I’ve been in this business now 50 years because my first job was when I was 14 years old. I was cast as a model for Harper’s Bazaar magazine by the famous photographer Albert Watson. That launched me into being in the business. And then two years later, I got cast as Pat Conway on “The Brady Bunch.” That’s how I got my SAG card.

Universal-International tries to squeak out another boffo big bug epic, but 1957 screens were already crowded with grasshoppers and scorpions — and the screenplay is derivative — and somebody allowed producer William Alland to throw in every stock shot that wasn’t nailed down.

Coleen Gray in 'The Sleeping City' with Richard Conte. Coleen Gray after Fox: B Westerns and films noirs (See previous post: “Coleen Gray Actress: From Red River to Film Noir 'Good Girls'.”) Regarding the demise of her Fox career (the year after her divorce from Rod Amateau), Coleen Gray would recall for Confessions of a Scream Queen author Matt Beckoff: I thought that was the end of the world and that I was a total failure. I was a mass of insecurity and depended on agents. … Whether it was an 'A' picture or a 'B' picture didn't bother me. It could be a Western movie, a sci-fi film. A job was a job. You did the best with the script that you had. Fox had dropped Gray at a time of dramatic upheavals in the American film industry: fast-dwindling box office receipts as a result of competition from television,...

In the first part of our extensive interview with actor Michael Biehn, we got to chat about his 1980s work in The Terminator, Aliens, and much, much more…
Anyone who’s familiar with my writing will know that I have a great love of under-appreciated actors. I’ll use any opportunity available to praise their work, and draw attention to films and performances that sometimes pass by relatively unnoticed.
Michael Biehn, for my money, is the most under-appreciated actor of them all. I’m sure most of our readers hold him in high regard, since he’s starred in several of the greatest films ever made, but to the general public, he’s less widely recognised.
Best known for playing father of the future, Kyle Reese, in The Terminator and D Hicks in Aliens (I’m well aware what the initial stands for, but I was crushed when the Special...

Actress Rita Wilson has paid tribute to Sherwood Schwartz following his death this week (beg11Jul11), thanking the TV mogul for kickstarting her career.
The star died of natural causes on Tuesday, at the age of 94, and Wilson has been quick to salute Schwartz.
One of her first roles in Hollywood was as an extra on Schwartz's sitcom The Brady Bunch, and she'll be forever thankful for the 1972 appearance as it helped her become a member of the Screen Actors Guild union.
In a series of posts on her Twitter.com page, she writes, "Sherwood Schwartz cast me in The Brady Bunch ('Pat Conway') which got me (a) Screen Actors Guild card. Thank you, Sherwood and Lloyd, his son.
"I played a cheerleader on Brady Bunch and Greg had to choose between Marcia and his Gf (girlfriend), so chose Pat Conway (me) and his Gf broke up w/him (with him)."...
