- Served in the Royal Air Force between 1943 and 1947.
- Before his writing career he worked at various times as a taxi company manager, a pilot, a trainee manager in the department store 'Marks and Spencer', a bank clerk and a typewriter salesman.
- In 1959 he was a founding member of the Writers' Guild, and chairman of same body between 1968 and 1971.
- Author of several novels, including "The Brink" (1982), "Yesterday's Gone" (1983), "In the Long Run" (1988) and "The Ninth Circle" (1988). He also wrote the stage plays "Fighting Chance" (1985), "Dangerous Obsession" (1987), adapted and filmed as Darkness Falls (1999) and "That Good Night" (1996).
- (1991) His play, "Dangerous Obsession," was performed at the Cape Playhouse in Dennis, Massachusetts with Juliet Mills and Alex Hyde-White in the cast.
- (1987-1988 season) His play, "Fighting Chance," was performed in an American premiere at the Long Wharf Theatre (Stage II) in New Haven, Connecticut. Kenneth Frankel was director. Marjorie B. Kellogg was set designer. Jennifer Von Mayhauser was costume designer. David F. Segal was lighting designer.
