Although it was a must-win match for Dubai Capitals, they could muster only 160 for 7 in 20 overs chasing Desert Vipers’ total of 182 for 7 on Thursday night. This win has carried Desert Vipers to the top of the table and guaranteed them a top-two finish.
The Desert Vipers bowled and fielded brilliantly after Sam Billings and Sherfane Rutherford cracked half-centuries to put on 80 runs in just seven overs for the fifth wicket. Apart from Waseem, Kieron Pollard and Andre Fletcher also scored fifties as Mi Emirates posted a whopping 241 for 3 in 20 overs. It was not only the highest score of the tournament but incidentally also the second-highest score in a T20 league at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium after Balkh Legends had piled up 244 for 6 in 20 overs against Kabul Zwanan in the 2018 Afghanistan Premier League.

The Capitals played their heart out against Desert Vipers on Saturday, but unfortunately, went down by 12 runs in the game.
Speaking about their previous match, Dubai Capitals’ all-rounder Sikandar Raza said, “The Desert Vipers bowled really well. Tom Curran and Matheesha Pathirana finished the innings off very well. However, destiny is in our own hands. We have to win three out of three or at least two out of three to qualify for the playoffs. Sometimes the team which has its back against the wall tends to do great things.”
Raza added that the team will look to improve on all three departments of the game in their next encounter, “The teams at the Dp World ILT20 are very evenly matched.
