Melbourne, Sep 3 (Ians) Rashid Khan, Harry Brook, Quinton De Kock and Tom Curran headline a list of 21 overseas players selected in the second edition of the Bbl overseas draft. Sunday’s draft saw 374 players from 29 countries put their names forward for selection in eight squads ahead of Bbl season 13.
Round one was full of excitement and key retention picks, with seven Clubs selecting Platinum players. Melbourne Stars attempted to use their first pick to recruit Rashid, the world’s best T20 bowler, from the Adelaide Strikers, before he was retained for a seventh straight season by the club in blue.
“I wouldn’t have been allowed back into South Australia (if we didn’t pick Rashid). It was a no-brainer for us. For any team, if Rash is available you would look to pick him… he is the best spinner in the world,” said Jason Gillespie, Strikers’ head coach, on buying back Rashid.

Sydney, Dec 10 (Ians) Sydney Sixers have signed England fast bowler Jake Ball for the 10th edition of the Big Bash League.
Ball will leave South Africa on Thursday, where he has been a member of England's white-ball tour squad, and will join the defending Bbl champions post Christmas once he has completed the mandatory 14-day quarantine period.
His signing comes after England teammate Tom Curran requested a release from his Sixers contract for this season due to fatigue associated with travelling and playing within bio-security restrictions.
Ball has played for England in all three forms of the game and comes to the Sixers highly recommended by star recruit Dan Christian, who captained Ball at English county Nottinghamshire.
"Jake has been a mainstay of our Nottinghamshire attack in my time there over the last six seasons, leading us to the domestic T20 titles in 2017, and again this year in 2020," Christian said.

Abu Dhabi, Oct 24 (Ians/GloFans) The 2008 Indian Premier league (Ipl) champions, Rajasthan Royals (Rr), may be placed at the seventh spot at the moment. However, the Steve Smith-led side is still afloat in the competition and would hope to strengthen their chances to qualify for the playoffs when they take on a confident Mumbai Indians (Mi) here on Sunday.
While Mi hold the top spot in the eight-team standings, Royals have managed just eight points from 11 matches so far. Mi still have four more matches to play, and another win will seal a playoff berth, and a defeat could further worsen Rr's already slim chances.
Rr suffered an eight-wicket hammering against Sunrisers Hyderabad (Srh) as all their batsmen failed to convert starts. They boast some modern-day greats like Ben Stokes, Smith and Jos Buttler but the trio has failed in making a bang.

Abu Dhabi, Oct 18 (Ians/GloFans) Chennai Super Kings (Csk) and Rajasthan Royals (Rr) have a chance to jump out of the bottom three of the Ipl table when they face each other at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium on Monday. Both sides are on six points and Csk are one place above Rr on sixth because of their superior net run rate.
Csk's top order of Faf du Plessis, Shane Watson and Ambati Rayudu showed they have regained their touch in recent matches, while Ravindra Jadeja was also quite handy with the bat in their last game against the Delhi Capitals (DC).
However, the form of captain Ms Dhoni could be a cause of concern. The veteran wicketkeeper batsman has not been able match up to the lofty standards he has set over the years with the bat this season. With 3,994 runs from 169 games, Dhoni is also the leading run-scorer for his side.

Dubai, Oct 10 (Ians/GloFans) The David Warner-led SunRisers Hyderabad (Srh) will aim to keep their good show going when they take on an out-of-form Rajasthan Royals (Rr), who have suffered a string of defeats, in the 26th match of the Ipl here on Sunday.
The 'Orange Army' will aim to replicate their performance of the previous match in which they hammered Kings XI Punjab by 69 runs at the same venue, the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Rr had started the proceedings well but their campaign looks to be getting off the track as the Steve Smith-led side has failed to be consistent. Even their star players are out of form and are unable to fire as they did during the early days of the 2020 season.
Rr, however, would be a bit relieved with the coming back of one of their most experienced all-rounder Ben Stokes, who has now completed...

Sharjah, Oct 9 (Ians/GloFans) A struggling Steve Smith-led Rajasthan Royals (Rr) will aim to get back to winning ways when they face a confident Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 23rd match of the Indian Premier League (Ipl) at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium here on Friday.
DC are happily sitting at the second spot on the table with eight points from five matches while Rr are seventh in the eight-team competition with four points from five matches.
So far, DC have clicked all the boxes, with both their batsmen and bowlers living up to the expectations. The main reason behind DC's success is that they have been making collective efforts.
Opener Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, captain Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, and Marcus Stoinis have been contributing with the bat.
In their last match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Stoinis came down the order and made a 26-ball unbeaten 53 to propel his side to a decent total.

Abu Dhabi, Oct 6 (Ians/GloFans) As Mumbai Indians (Mi) get ready to take on an off-colour Rajasthan Royals (Rr) here on Tuesday, Mi captain Rohit Sharma will particularly look forward to scoring 86 more runs that will take him to 4,000 runs while representing his home city in the Ipl.
Rohit, though, has also represented the erstwhile Deccan Chargers.
Team wise, however, there is little to differentiate between Rr Mi in the Ipl. Both teams have won 10 games each in head to head contests. But on current form, Mi look favourites.
Rr have a handful of concerns. Robin Uthappa's poor form is one of these. With Ben Stokes still in quarantine, the 2008 champions will have to look elsewhere for a turn in their fortunes.
Will Royals include talented Yashasvi Jasiwal, the 18-year-old a left-handed batsman? Or will they consolidate their pace department with the inclusion of maybe Varun Aaron?

Abu Dhabi, Oct 3 (Ians) Rajasthan Royals (Rr) captain Steve Smith on Saturday said that the top three batsmen have to perform better after their eight-wicket defeat to Royal Challengers Bangalore (Rcb).
Rr reached 154/6 wkts in 20 overs, thanks to No.5 Mahipal Lomror's 47, after their top three batsmen -- Jos Buttler, Smith, and Sanju Samson -- were blown away in the first five overs.
"Our top three should be doing the job a lot more. In the last two games we haven't got going and that has cost us. We have to take it a little bit deeper us three and then we have enough power, we have seen what Tewatia can do, Jofra and Tom Curran as well," said Smith after the match.
"He [Lomror] played nice, under pressure having lost quite a few wickets and he was able to build throughout the middle, I thought he played a really mature innings.

Dubai, Sep 30 (Ians) A clinical Kolkata Knight Riders (Kkr) on Wednesday coasted to a 37-run win over Rajasthan Royals (Rr) here. After scoring 174/6 wkts in 20 overs, Kkr restricted Rr to 137/9 in 20 overs, with top scorer Tom Curran (54 not out off 36 balls) being one of just three Rr batsmen to enter double figures.
Pat Cummins struck early with the big wicket of his Australian team mate Steve Smith in the second over of the Rr innings. The in-form Sanju Samson was dismissed by Shivam Mavi in the fifth over which meant that Rr had lost both their highest scoring batsmen thus far this season within the powerplay.
Jos Buttler scored a quickfire 21 off 16 and threatened to get back to the form he displayed last season, before falling to the very first ball of the seventh over bowled by Mavi.
It was all downhill for Rr after that as they failed to get partnerships going.

New Delhi, Sep 30 (Ians) On Wednesday, Rajasthan Royals (Rr) unleashed their pace juggernaut Jofra Archer with full force against the Kolkata Knight Riders (Kkr), and the England bowler returned his best figures of this Ipl even as he regularly clocked around 150 kmph. The gangling bowler's fastest delivery was clocked at 152.1 kmph, in the 14th over, and he finished with superb figures of 2/18 in four overs.
Archer, 25, would have taken another wicket had Tom Curran not dropped Eoin Morgan at deep backward point boundary in the 20th and last over of the Kkr innings. The missed catch near the boundary line resulted in a six.
Born in Bridgetown, West Indies, Archer was modest when asked about his speed.
"I didn't see the speeds on the big screen, so not sure at what speed I was bowling. You can hit your lengths comfortably here as compared to Sharjah where even good balls can go to the boundary.

Dubai, Sep 29 (Ians/GloFans) In-form Rajasthan Royals (Rr) will aim for a hat-trick of wins when they square-off against two-time Ipl winners Kolkata Knight Riders (Kkr) at the Dubai International Cricket stadium here on Wednesday evening.
After defeating Chennai Super Kings (Csk) in their campaign opener, the Steve Smith-led Rr overhauled the highest tournament total of 224 against Kings XI Punjab (Kxip) in their previous match. They are high on confidence as they take another step towards qualifying for the playoffs, though that is a bit far at the moment.
Rr opener Sanju Samson and skipper Smith smashed half-centuries in the game against Kxip. However, with the match slipping away from their hands, Haryana all-rounder Rahul Tewatia's blitzkrieg bought them back in the contest. Once again, all eyes will be on Samson, who has two half-centuries from as many games, and Tewatia, who smashed 53 off 31 balls against Kings XI Punjab.

Sharjah, Sep 28 (Ians) With 51 needed of the last three overs and Sanju Samson dismissed at 85, the game as all but gone for the Rajasthan Royals against Kings XI Punjab. Left-handed Rahul Tewatia -- who came out to bat at two-drop chasing 223 -- had been struggling to get going.
He had faced eight balls from Ravi Bishnoi, six of which were dots. He did manage to get one six but was lagging far behind after scoring 17 off his first 23 deliveries.
"They were the worst 20 balls I have ever played," Tewatia would go on to say after the match on Sunday.
The Royals dugout looked on curiously as the match appeared to be slipping away.
"I was hitting the ball really well in the nets so I had the belief in myself. I was not hitting the ball well initially then I saw in the dugout, everybody was curious because they know...

Sharjah, Sep 27 (Ians) Mayank Anurag Agarwal looks unstoppable in the Ipl. Just seven days after making his highest Ipl score of 89, the Kings XI Punjab opener smashed his maiden century off 45 balls -- the second fastest by an Indian and eighth overall in the 13-year history of the T20 league. His century however went in vain as Rajasthan Royals incredibly chased down the target of 224 that was set up Kxip to complete the highest succesful run chase in Ipl history.
Yusuf Pathan, then representing Rajasthan Royals, had scored a century off just 37 balls against Mumbai Indians at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai in 2010. In the all-time Ipl list, Agarwal is eighth.
Agarwal plundered 106 to propel Kxip to 223 for two wickets in 20 overs against Rajasthan Royals. He and his fellow Bangalorean and captain Kl Rahul (69 off 54 balls) were involved in a record partnership of 183 runs for the opening wicket as a...

Sharjah, Sep 27 (Ians) A maiden century from Mayank Agarwal and his epic 183-run opening stand with captain Kl Rahul helped Kings XI Punjab score 223/2 batting first against Rajasthan Royals at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
Mayank scored 106 from 50 balls, his innings punctuated by as many seven sixes and 10 fours. Rahul, on the other hand, scored 69 off 54, smashing seven fours and one six.
The partnership that the pair shared is the highest opening stand ever for Kxip and the second highest overall for the team, behind the mammoth 206 put up by Adam Gilchrist and Shaun Marsh for the second wicket against Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2011.
It is also the third highest opening partnership of all time in the Ipl.
The stand was broken when Mayank holed out at deep midwicket off Tom Curran in the 17th over. Rahul went in the next over, falling to Ankit Rajpoot.

South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis won the toss and elected to bowl against England in the World Cup opener at The Oval on Thursday. For South Africa, Dale Steyn, Chris Morris, David Miller, and Tabraiz Shamsi are not part of the playing XI.? England has not included Liam Dawson, Mark Wood, Tom Curran and James Vince for the opener.
At the toss, Faf: Going to have a bowl. Early start at the Oval, if there's anything in the wicket, it's now. Shamsi, Miller, Morris, Steyn not playing. Steyn's around 80%. The start of the World Cup. It's going to be a good one. Ngidi and Kg have been exceptional over the last couple of years. Good to see Amla scoring runs in the warm-up.
Morgan: Would've looked to do the same. The wicket looks really good. It's set fair all day, shouldn't change much. Yes, Wood was available for selection.

Britain’s Got Talent hopefuls ‘The Arrangement’ have revealed that they are planning to let their sexy female string players take more of a central role, in a bid to win the show.
Group frontman Jono Miles has revealed that he and pianist Tom Curran, bassist Nathan Rasdall and drummer Joe Chivers only decided to add the girls to the group once they decided to audition for the ITV show.
They now plan to turn their string section – Hannah Godfrey, Amy Dickens and Lara Le Cort De Billo and Ellie Davies – into the new Escala if they make it through to the show’s live semi finals.
Jono told The Sun: “The band has been going for about a year.
“The string players were a Britain’s Got Talent idea and joined in November.
“I’m good friends with all of the girls, I guess it was lucky they were gorgeous!
