Film-maker Suneel Darshan?s ?Jaanwar? featuring Akshay Kumar, Karisma Kapoor, and Shilpa Shetty has completed 20years since its first release in cinemas and registered 100 days run in over 25 cities nationwide.
Jaanwar was Akshay Kumar?s first super success after a string of 14 flops yet Suneel Darshan cast him in the lead role, not only believing in his conviction but also stoically standing by him.
Expressing about this journey, Darshan says, ?I wrote this script for Sunny Deol but while narrating the script he couldn?t understand its depth...after him a very big star of the ?90s liked the script but abruptly I got a call from Akshay and we had a meeting where he expressed desire to work with me. Veteran filmmaker Suneel Darshan who gave break to Priyanka Chopra and Lara Dutta, the man behind Andaaz, Barsaat, Dosti etc, won a copyright infringement case against Google India and its YouTube video-streaming platform, after an eight-year-long court battle.
Suneel Darshan, the proprietor of film production company Shree Krishna International had filed a suit for permanent injunction against Google India and YouTube, and their Us parent, in 2011, in the District Court of Gurgaon for infringement of his copyright. The court awarded damages of Rs.50,000 to Darshan and restrained Google and YouTube from infringing on his works.
His lawyers claimed that the defendants had infringed on his copyright in respect for sound recording, cinematograph films and audio-visual songs, without any license or authorization, from him. They argued that the ?unauthorized downloader? and the defendants were sharing the ad revenue generated from the ?unauthorized exploitation? of the copyrighted works, causing huge financial losses to the petitioner.

Ek Haseena Thi Ek Deewana Tha
Starring Shiv Darshan,Natasha Fernandez, Upen Patel
Directed by Suneel Darshan
This is a film for the diehard romantics who still believe love lasts for many lifetimes. Quite the other end of the spectrum from Imtiaz Ali’s Jab Harry Met Sejal where Ms Sharma is heard discussing the legal ramifications of random “intercourse” with Shah Rukh Khan.
Suneel Darshan’s chaste love birds played by his son Shiv and newcomer Natasha Fernandez, are strictly old-school. Shiv shows some growth as an actor. He plays Deodhar, a mysterious figure who moves around as a spirit in the picturesque locales of England, who wooes the pretty girl Natasha with Nadeem’s song which spill put in atorrent of effusion.
It’s good to see a Bollywood film paying heed to the tradition of protagonists singing songs on screen. There is plenty of lip-sync singing in this film.

Suneel Darshan’s Ek Haseena Thi Ek Deewana Tha is an exhilarating journey of romance, passion, intrigue and thrill that is set to release in cinemas on 30th June 2017. With music by Nadeem (of Nadeem-Shravan fame), Ek Haseena Thi Ek Deewana Tha features Shiv Darshan, Upen Patel and introduces actress Natasha Fernandez.
As the director gears up his forthcoming romantic mystery, Ek Haseena Thi Ek Deewana Tha, there is buzz that this film is a sequel to the 2000 hit Dhadkan.
Suneel Darshan, however, clarifies, “Ehtedt has got nothing to do with Dhadkan. It is an absolutely fresh subject. Also, the music is more contemporary; something that one would want to hear from Nadeem in the present time. The movie does have a love triangle, but it has more layers to it and comes somewhere from the world of classic English movies. So there are absolutely no comparisons.”

What Brad Pitt and Ben Affleck couldn't do, Akshay Kumar has dared to attempt. Take on Shah Rukh Khan in his Diwali domain.
While the Brad and Ben starrers Fury and Gone Girl were pushed ahead so as to not clash with Shah Rukh's Happy New Year, Akshay Kumar's Jaanwar creeps stealthily into the theatres alongside the Srk monster-release.
Suddenly out of the blue Shah Rukh Khan has competition. If we can call it that. Shah Rukh's eagerly awaited Happy New Year which no other film dared to take on, has now an Akshay Kumar starrer to reckon with.
The film is Suneel Darshan's 1999 hit Jaanwar which is being flash-released this Diwali in a new digitally enhanced avatar.
Explaining his decision to suddenly release the film on the same day as Happy New Year producer-director Suneel Darshan says, "The re-release was over-due. And what better time than Diwali?...

Kareena Kapoor's career is on a roll again. She is not only on the verge of signing films with Sujoy Ghosh (in the title role of Durga Rani Singh) and Bejoy Nambiar (there is every likelihood that she would be cast opposite Farhan Akhtar in Nambiar's film) but she is also been offered the lead opposite Akshay Kumar in Prabhu Dheva's much talked-about Singh Is Bling. The actress who is suddenly inundated with a plethora of scripts says she is spoilt for choices. Prabhu Dheva met Kareena on Friday. She apparently liked what she heard. When asked if Kareena would have much to do in a film where Akshay Kumar plays the title role, Prabhu says, "The heroines in my film always have their own space in the plot. Was Sonakshi Sinha in Rowdy Rathod or R... Rajkumar just a decorative doll? No way! My films may be titled after the hero,...

The two beauty queens debuted together in Suneel Darshan’s Andaz two years later. And now, they’re working together in Farhan Akhtar’s Don 2 – The Chase Continues that opens this Christmas. While Priyanka returns as the original heroine in the sequel, Lara, we’re told, is only doing a glamorous cameo. But there are no complaints. “I’m happy, and I’m not competing with anyone,” she asserts. “Sure, ...

Suneel Darshan is sitting on a fortune estimated at Rs 100 crore plus. In a career spanning 23 years, he has produced 10 films and chosen not to sell the satellite rights of any of them. “None of my films have been officially seen on TV anywhere in the world,” he confirms. “I don’t know if that is creditable but I have always believed that cinema belongs to the theatres. But with 11,000 theatres dwindling down to 6,500, I may have to take a call on this soon. Today, even the biggest banners and stars have embraced TV. I guess ...

When asked why he started designing clothes for Hindi films, Manish Malhotra had once said, .Bollywood is my first love. I.m fascinated by everything about Hindi films, the colour, the songs around trees, everything. I entered the industry to make a film initially but got into designing midway, which gave me my much-needed connect with Hindi cinema..Manish Malhotra has indeed come a long way and is now all set to make his directorial debut with Karan Johar.s banner, Dharma Productions. But that.s old hat. The latest buzz is that Manish has been meeting with producer Vashu Bhagnani to make this film. And Vashu is also keen to launch Manish. Is Karan out of the fold then? Yesterday afternoon, Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra shocked everyone at a five-star hotel in Bandra, where she was rehearsing for an event. The two superstars, who were reportedly dating each other six years ago, had an amicable conversation for a full ten minutes. This makes for a rather pleasant change - as both have a tendency to look through each other at events. It is common knowledge that Akshay.s wife Twinkle harbours no love for Priyanka. When stories about the Akshay-Priyanka link-up started making the rounds, reportedly Twinkle made her husband vow that he would never work with Priyanka again. Realising that his family life would turn messy, Akshay stopped interacting with Priyanka. Reportedly, he even walked out of Suneel Darshan.s Barsaat because he did not want to work with Priyanka. On the other hand, Priyanka and Akshay had always denied that they were attracted to each other.

The shocking downfall of Nikhil Advani's Chandni Chowk To China has put a huge question mark on Akshay Kumar's ongoing comic journey. Most of his well-wishers in the industry seriously wish him to end his protracted attempts at comedy. Says a director who has worked with Akshay, "Akshay Kumar has become progressively active in the process of writing scripts and shooting films. He freely makes suggestions some of which, I've to admit, are good. But quite often he wants to take over the project. When I went to him with another project he offered to co-produce it and get someone to re-write portions. It's obvious a lot of scenes in Chandni Chowk were re-written. The result shows." Apparently, the Chandni Chowk To China writer Sridhar Raghavan was persuaded to continuously change the scenes until the writer (known for his skilled screenplay in Raj Santoshi's film) was a helpless...

For reasons best known to them Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra had stopped working together in spite of a string of successes together beginning with Suneel Darshan's Andaaz and climaxing in Abbas-Mustan's Aitraaz. Thereafter, Priyanka was persuaded for mysterious reasons to move on to other leading men. Akshay Kumar tried to form a lasting screen pair with Kareena Kapoor. But when that didn't work too well (Talaash, Bewafaa, Tashan), he turned to Katrina Kaif for professional sustenance. So deep was the cleft between the pair that Suneel Darshan had to scrap an Akshay-Priyanka starrer after a song featuring them. But now it seems the ice has thawed. Akshay and Priyanka performed together on stage on Thursday for Christmas at the Convention Centre in Hong Kong for a show called 'From Chandi Chowk To Hong Kong.' Joining the pair was Bipasha Basu who was earlier scheduled to perform...

'It is important to have a good director to enhance one's performance on screen. The worst thing to happen to me is a bad director' - states Kangna Ranaut in the latest issue of a popular Bollywood magazine as she talks about life post Fashion and how she had almost lost control of her life till some time back. That's not all. While she speaks fondly about her first ever director Anurag Basu [Gangster] and acknowledges that it was his faith in her that turned her into an actor that she is today, she reveals that she shares a love-hate relationship with Mohit Suri [Woh Lamhe, Raaz - The Mystery Continues] and how Madhur Bhandarkar [Fashion] would make her feel special during the filming and how he would get her chocolates.
