As Aerosmith get ready to embark on a farewell tour, it’s no secret that guitarist Joe Perry and singer Steven Tyler have had their share of discord over the years. Such was the case around 2009, when Perry was seeking out a potential replacement for the band’s iconic vocalist.
In a new interview with The Dave Rickards Podcast, singer Chris Daughtry revealed that he was one of the candidates that Perry approached to take over for Tyler, who at the time entered rehab for painkillers and then emerged to become a judge on American Idol.
Frustrated with the lack of Aerosmith activity, Perry sought out possible replacements for Tyler. Over the years, it has been reported that Perry may have reached out to such singers as Sammy Hagar, Chris Cornell, Paul Rodgers, and Billy Idol.

Earlier this year, Lzzy Hale and Daughtry unveiled a studio cover of Journey’s “Separate Ways (Worlds Apart).” They recently reprised that collaboration at the Royal Albert Hall in London, where Hale joined the band onstage for a performance of the Journey classic.
Fan footage has now surfaced of Hale’s cameo, which came at the beginning of Daughtry’s encore. The crowd lights up when they hear the song’s iconic synth intro — cueing Chris Daughtry and Hale to take the stage in unison.
Daughtry had been performing the song as part of their encore prior to the London show, but this was the first time Lzzy and Chris duetted the song live together. The duo is spot-on vocally, mirroring the strong chemistry heard on the studio recording. The band is also airtight as it delivers a heavier rendition of the original tune.

When people think of American Idol, they often think of names like Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson, Adam Lambert, Katharine McPhee, and others. The Season 19 finale of “American Idol” just wrapped up on ABC with rock/country singer Chayce Beckham winning the coveted title. But the third place finisher, Grace Kinstler, and the runner-up, Willie Spence, shouldn’t worry too much. After all, if two decades of watching “Idol” has taught us anything, it’s that losing is just the beginning. Tour our photo gallery above of the 13 most successful losers in “American Idol” history.
A lot of talent has crossed the “Idol” stage since its debut on Fox in 2002. The show found a new home, ABC, in 2018. Each season thousands of contestants line up for their chance in front of the judges, but there can be only one winner. The following artists are part of a select few who made an impression on America so big they were able to overcome their loss and still find fame and fortune. You know them.

Ever since Black Swan first spread her wings at the start of the Group B performances of “The Masked Singer” Season 5, she’s been a fan-favorite to win the Golden Mask. “I am so excited about this because it’s nice to have a badass on this season,” remarked panelist Robin Thicke after her ear-pleasing rendition of “Barracuda.” Cut to today, where Black Swan has just made it into the coveted Top 4. If the black-feathered, red-beaked bird ends up winning the show, she’d be the third female “Masked Singer” winner in a row after Night Angel (Kandi Burruss) and Sun (LeAnn Rimes). Talk about girl power!

At the start of Wednesday’s all-new episode of “The Masked Singer,” host Nick Cannon will introduce a brand new costumed character named Mr. TV. Don’t worry — this isn’t a contestant who’s crashing the party midway through the competition. Instead, it’s the week’s special guest judge. In Fox’s preview trailer (watch below), Mr. TV comes out on stage wearing a sparkly silver suit and crooning Maroon 5‘s “Memories” in a familiar baritone voice. “Season 4 is full of surprises!” Jenny McCarthy shouts. However, the surprise is ruined later in the video clip (specifically the 14-second mark) when the mystery celeb is shown on the panel without his television mask. So who is he? Read on for the preview spoiler.

Speed and star-power: Those are the two clear goals for the DC Fandome virtual event on Aug. 22, which released its full schedule Friday.
Over 100 hours of content stretching across the film, TV and comic book properties from DC Entertainment will unfold over a 24-hour period on the Saturday event, including panels featuring the filmmakers and casts of “The Batman,” “Wonder Woman 1984,” “The Suicide Squad” and the Snyder Cut of “Justice League,” and the casts of TV series including “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” “Batwoman,” “Black Lightning” and “The Flash.”
Most of those panels, however, will run just 15 to 30 minutes in length. The panel for the upcoming feature film version of “The Flash,” with filmmakers Andy and Barbara Muschietti, star Ezra Miller, and screenwriter Christina Hodson, will clock in at a speedy 10 minutes. (The briefness of that panel could also be due to unresolved questions surrounding a video of Miller appearing...

Since Covid began, artists have widely experimented with the livestreaming formula, trying to get their shows to stand out in an oversaturated ecosystem. Travis Scott, The Weeknd, and John Legend have gone the augmented reality route, taking to platforms like Fortnite and Wave to give gamified animated concerts, while shows like Verzuz are airing song battles. Now, Edm DJ and record producer Michael Brun is trying yet another new tactic — by limiting who can tune into his upcoming shows to specific cities.

Black Pumas needed one more song. At a festival in Austin a few years ago, the then-new soul-rock band had plowed through every number in its repertoire and had been called back for an encore. Desperate for anything to play, lead singer Eric Burton grabbed his guitar and began performing an older tune he’d learned in his youth. “The reaction I got from the crowd was very deep,” he recalls. “And it made me think, ‘I can’t ignore the power of this song and the way it connects with what’s going on.

The audience of “The Masked Singer” may have had their say, but our Derbyites are determined to have their voices heard about what went down on the Season 3 finale. They voted in our poll and a surprising 57% of our readers say the coveted Golden Mask should have gone to pop star Jesse McCartney, who competed as the Turtle. That’s over 20 points more than those who thought Kandi Burruss (Night Angel) was rightfully crowned the winner, which totaled 35% of our respondents. Only 8% believed that the trophy should have gone to Bow Wow (Frog). Do you agree with our readers that McCartney was robbed? Be sure to let us know in the comments below.

“The Masked Singer” has only been around for three seasons, but already an unfortunate pattern is emerging: women are being shut out of the top positions. So far we’ve had two male winners in T-Pain (Season 1’s Monster) and Wayne Brady (Season 2’s Fox), as well as two male runners-up in Donny Osmond (Season 1’s Peacock) and Chris Daughtry (Season 2’s Rottweiler). To compare, the most successful females on Fox’s wild and wacky reality TV show both had to settle for third place: Gladys Knight (Bee) the first year and Adrienne Bailon (Flamingo) the second year.
