- Guy Debord was born on December 28, 1931 in Paris, France. He was a writer and director, known for In girum imus nocte et consumimur igni (1978), Howlings in Favour of De Sade (1952) and Fuerza nueva: Canción para los obreros de Seat (2019). He was married to Alice Becker-Ho and Michele Bernstein. He died on November 30, 1994 in Bellevue-la-Montagne, Auvergne, France.

- In 2001 a complete retrospective of Debord's films was shown at the 58th Venice International Film Festival in Venice, Italy (August 29th - September 8th 2001).
- In October 2005 there was a three-week showing of Debord's films in Paris: A complete retrospective each day. This was followed by similar retrospectives in several other French cities.
- In March 2009 a complete retrospective of Debord's films with authorized subtitling took place at the Film Society of Lincoln Center in New York (March 1, 2009).
- In January/February of 2016 a retrospective of Debords (restored) films took place at the filmmuseum Vienna in attendance of Alice Debord. The retrospective included Hurlements en faveur de Sade. Disappointingly, no riot broke out in the audience and only few people walked out.
