- During his filming of the Green Zone, Jerry was serving as both a Squad Leader in the US Army-Reserves and as one in Hollywood opposite Matt Damon.
- To help pay the rent, he used to work the prepared food section of a Deli with Philip Seymour Hoffman in the early '90s, while attending NYU.
- While Deployed in Iraq (2005), he entered the West Point Academy's German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge competition. This Army 'Iron Man' contest pits soldiers to achieve top scores in events such as weight lifting, high jumping, swimming, sprinting, long jumping, 9mm marksmanship and ending finally with a 16 mile 'combat road march' around the base. Eventually he earned the Gold Medal, and finished his final task in just under 4 hours.
