CNN is making major changes to its struggling pundit show Parker Spitzer.
For starters, columnist and co-host Kathleen Parker is exiting the program.
Former New York governor Eliot Spitzer will remain with the show, which will be reconfigured into an ensemble series with other guests titled In the Arena. E.D. Hill and Will Cain will join the program, which will launch on Monday.
“We have been pleased with how the 8 p.m. hour has become a centerpiece of substantive, policy-oriented conversation, and we are looking forward to building on that with this new format,” says CNN Executive VP Ken Jautz.

Kathleen Parker, the co-host of "Parker Spitzer," CNN's four-month-old, ratings-challenged primetime show, is being dropped from the program, according to sources inside the CNN newsroom. Eliot Spitzer, her co-host, will remain, and beginning on Monday the show will be called "In the Arena." "We have decided to take the show in a new direction," Ken Jautz, CNN's president, wrote in a memo to staffers Friday. "We will be adopting an ensemble format with several newsmakers, guests and contributors joining Eliot Spitzer each night." E.D. Hill and Will Cain will join the program,...

In today’s politically correct laden climate, you have to have some sort of balance… even in daytime talk shows.
New York Daily News reports that Barbara Walters and Bill Geddie, the masterminds behind the ABC gabfest The View, are putting their heads together for second round table discussion show, this time making sure to inject a man’s perspective in the mix. While everything is in the ‘hush hush’ development stage of things, some goals are already for certain, such as time slot preference, shooting location preference, and a wish list of hosts to assume the daily duties on the show.
The dream time slot will be the ones that The Oprah Winfrey Show will vacate once that show ends next Spring, that way ‘nouveau’ View wouldn’t interfere with the flagship show. The preferred location would be Los Angeles to give the show a different atmosphere and feel than its potential counterpart.

Barbara Walters and Bill Geddie, who created ABC hit talk show "The View," are developing a "unisex" spinoff of the show that would add a male perspective.
Walters and Geddie envision it being produced in L.A. instead of New York, where "The View" is based, the Daily News reported Wednesday. It would be for an afternoon time slot, which Oprah Winfrey's talk show is expected to leave next year.
Similar to their evergreen ABC show, the spinoff would feature five co-hosts discussing a range of topical subjects. On the duo's wish list of hosts, according to the paper, are former "Today" show host Bryant Gumbel,
Filipino-American comedian Alec Mapa ("Ugly Betty"), former Bet news anchor Jacque Reid and former Fox News host E.D. Hill.
An ABC spokesman had no comment when asked about the potential spinoff.

Kate Gosselin is going to sit among the four women of "The View" this Fall, not as the talk show's guest but rather as the co-host. The star of Tlc's "Jon & Kate Plus 8" is tapped to be one of the substitutes for regular host Elisabeth Hasselbeck who is taking a maternity leave until mid October.
According to People, Kate is scheduled for two appearances, on September 14 and 15. This date is somehow contradictory to earlier reports which specified that Victoria Adams is the one who will appear on the September 14 episode. There is still no explanation for this yet.
"The View" itself will premiere the 13th season on September 8. Joining as guest host are Meghan McCain (September 9 and 10), La Toya Jackson (September 16 and 18), Kathy Griffin (September 19) and E.D. Hill (September 23 and 24).

Embattled reality-tv mom Kate Gosselin will mix it up with the ladies of ABC's The View [1] as a guest host on Sept. 14 and 15, People has learned. The star of Tlc's Jon & Kate Plus 8 will be filling in for Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who will still be on maternity leave when The View returns from its summer-rerun schedule on Sept. 8. Gosselin, 34, whose separation from husband Jon has dominated the headlines throughout the summer, will no doubt help the talk show hit the ground running in the ratings as it begins its 13th season. The program has several other guest hosts lined up to join Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar and Sherri Shepherd during September. They include Meghan McCain, the daughter of Sen. John McCain, on the 9th and 10th; Latoya Jackson on the 16th and 18th; and Fox News Channel anchor E.D. Hill on the 23rd and 24th. Hasselbeck gave birth [2] to her third child,...

Get ready for the televised catfight to end all televised catfights! People magazine reports that somewhat abrasive Jon & Kate Plus 8 mom Kate Gosselin will step in to guest-host on The View on September 14 and 15. Why? Besides the high potential for ratings-grabbing fisticuffs, we mean? View co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck is on maternity leave, and apparently the producers felt they needed someone just as disagreeable to keep the dynamic going. Also slated to fill in for Hasselbeck on various dates are Meghan McCain, daughter of Arizona Senator John McCain, La Toya Jackson, and Fox News anchor E.D. Hill. But enough of that, let...

While Elisabeth Hasselbeck is out on maternity leave this fall, The View will be replacing her with Meghan McCain. Shocker, right? The new season of The View is set to air on September 8th and Meghan will make her first appearance on the show on September 9th and stay for three days. Also confirmed to guest co-host in September is former Fox News Channel anchor E.D. Hill, who will join the ladies on September 23 and 24. Earlier this week, McCain tweeted about a special announcement, but wouldn't confirm what they were. "Going to La next week...
