- Marcel Duhamel was born on July 16, 1900 in Paris, France. He was an actor and writer, known for Cet homme est dangereux (1953), Remorques (1941) and Ciboulette (1933). He died on March 6, 1977 in Saint-Laurent-du-Var, Alpes-Maritimes, France.
- He was the creator and director of Série noire, Gallimard's collection of crime novels. He translated many of these and also works by Hemingway, Le Carré and others. He was a friend of Jacques and Pierre Prévert.
