Petite, soulful-eyed brunette leading lady of the silent screen, best remembered for playing 'Dorothy' in an early version of
The Wizard of Oz (1925). Her second husband was comic actor Larry Semon, who frequently used her in his short films. After Semon's death in 1928, Dorothy continued to get steady work, including as heroine of several westerns. She apparently had a good enough voice to make the transition to talkies, but instead opted to retire and raise a family with her third husband, the son of a Union Oil Company executive.
