- Duke Fishman was born on July 15, 1906 in Manila, Philippines. He was an actor, known for The Doris Day Show (1968). He died on December 22, 1977 in Palm Springs, California, USA.

- Worked every summer, for 42 years, as a lifeguard on the beaches of Avalon, California, and was well-known for strolling barefoot along the town's Front Street, wearing little more than a skin-tight swimsuit and a Captain's cap cocked jauntily on his head.
- In 1949, he shaved his head and eventually wore a gold hoop earring in his left ear, both quite unusual for the day. He was rumored to have been the inspiration for the popular Mr. Clean character.
