In the midst of a great debate about the future of the U.S. news business, the British are coming.
Katty Kay, the veteran BBC newscaster, is set to launch a new deep-dive interview program that will take her away — not permanently — from her usual role covering U.S. politics in favor of long-form conversations with interesting figures. In the first nine-episode season of “Influential with Katty Kay,” the journalist will interview actor Wendell Pierce, dancer Misty Copeland and author Ken Follett, among others, all in a longform format that will put emphasis not only on what makes them famous but also some of their interests.
“You interview people in one way in news or politics. You are trying to catch them maybe saying something they don’t necesssarirly want to say or in an unguarded way. There’s a combative nature, which can be exhilarating, but it’s definitely combative,...

Fiasco (docuseries)
From the creators of Slow Burn comes a new podcast documentary about politics, power, and uncertainty. Host Leon Neyfakh will transport listeners into the day-to-day reality of our country’s most pivotal historical events, bringing to life the forgotten twists and turns of the past while shedding light on the present. Season One of Fiasco will tell the story of the contested 2000 election between Al Gore and George W. Bush, and the extraordinary legal battle that followed in Florida. Fiasco is produced by Neyfakh’s Prologue Projects and Luminary Media, LLC. Neyfakh, Steven Fisher and Andrew Parsons serve as executive producers, along with Ken Druckerman and Banks Tarver for Left/Right Productions, a Red Arrow Studios company.
Songs That Changed The World (docuseries)
Directed by Emmy Award winner Thom Zimny and executive produced by acclaimed singer-songwriter Jackson Browne, this four-part doc series looks into those transcendent moments when music was able to do what no other social force could: speak to our minds, hearts and souls and lead us to higher ground…and in so doing transform us…whether we knew we needed to or not. In addition to Zimny and Browne, Armyan Bernstein (for Beacon Pictures) will executive produce.

Epix has put into development a trio of scripted series: one that takes place in King Arthur’s time, another from the Elizabethan era and the third in 1984.
“The Winter King,” a drama series adaptation of Bernard Cornwell’s trilogy of Arthurian novels “The Warlord Chronicles,” hails from Bad Wolf.
“Gibson Station,” from producer/writer/director Edward Burns, is a dramedy set in 1984 that revolves around three 20-something best friends setting out to pursue their dreams and seek out their place in Ronald Reagan’s America.
“A Column of Fire” is based on the novel by international best-selling author Ken Follett. The Elizabethan-era drama follows the romance between Ned Willard and Margery Fitzgerald and is written by Lizzie Mickery and produced by Snowed-In Productions and Sony Pictures Television. Ruth Kenley-Letts and Mickery are executive producers.

You may not directly recall the name of director Richard Marquand, though in many ways he’s a notable director from the 1980s thanks to items like the pulpy Glenn Close courtroom drama Jagged Edge (1985), and a Ken Follett adaptation Eye of the Needle (1981). Oh, and he happened to helm Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi in 1983. The British director died of a stroke at the age of forty nine, which explains the abrupt end of a flourishing filmography. He made the jump from documentary and television series to feature with the forgotten 1978 British horror film The Legacy, which starred notable American stars (and real life couple) Katharine Ross and Sam Elliott. Based on a story by Jimmy Sangster, a writer of many Hammer Studio films, the screenplay was also co-written by Patrick Tilley (his last credit) and Paul Wheeler (who would exclusively work in television afterwards). Today the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films announced its nominees for the 2013 Saturn Awards, one of the few awards programs in which a lot of us will recognize nearly every production. The awards have been expanded over recent years, so if you are unclear about just what type of productions are honored by the Academy, an explanation is included in the press release below, although it can really be summarized as “we know it when we see it.”

Published almost twenty years after his acclaimed novel The Pillars of the Earth author Ken Follett took us back to Kingsbridge for a tale of bloody (and Black) death, pendular loyalties and a country on the brink of war.
World Without End was adapted for television and is the whole series is now available on Blu-ray and DVD. Cynthia Nixon, Miranda Richardson, Peter Firth, Ben Chaplin and Oliver Jackson-Cohen lead the eight part series set on the eve of the Hundred Years war.
To get you fully immersed in the show we have a number of items of interest on offer. First there is an interview with the man himself, Ken Follett, who gives an introduction to the complex world of Kingsbridge 157 years since we were there last.
Then we have two interviews, one with Spooksman Peter Firth who plays Earl Roland and an interview with Oliver Jackson-Cohen who was seen recently in Mr Selfridge.

As part of our new film show over here at HeyUGuys, we are going to interview an array of talented actors and actresses and try and get some inside knowledge on what life is really like from within the industry, and the first to sit down and have a cup of tea (and a bagel) with us, is Hellboy star Rupert Evans.
Evans, 35, has managed his career thus far between film and television, with starring roles in features such as Agora and Elfie Hopkins, while he can currently be seen in Channel 4 series World Without End – a medieval drama based on the hugely successful Ken Follett novel.
Evans discusses his part of Godwyn in the show, working amongst such a high profile cast, how quickly he judges a script, while he also tells us of his enjoyment at playing the bad guy.
We’re hoping to bring you many...

Merely two years ago, Ken Follett’s The Pillars of the Earth was brought to the small screen in an outstanding epic miniseries. It featured a fantastic mix of drama, romance, war, corruption, revenge, mystery, and political intrigue, all centered around the building of a cathedral in the fictitious English town of Kingsbridge. Now Follett’s “sequel” novel, World Without End, has been given the miniseries treatment, bringing us once again to this small town where we find that many of these same elements are still brewing, even 150 years later.
As this is a six and a half hour miniseries, there is quite a bit going on, so I’ll do my best to lay down the most important storylines. Set in the 1300s, the main storyline revolves around Caris (Charlotte Riley), a resident of Kingsbridge who has decided to study medicine from Mattie (Indira Varma), a woman who is...
