Born in Chicago, he began his radio career in 1931 on "The General Tire
Show". Later he had regular roles on soap operas, such as "Guiding
Light" and "Today's Children". He then created the voice of Willie Fitz
on the "Ma Perkins" radio show, which ran for 30 years. In the late
1940s he wrote the thriller "Hollow Triumph", about an ex-convict who
kills a psychiatrist and becomes famous after assuming the dead man's
identity. The film version was retitled "The Scar" and had Paul Henreid
and Joan Bennett in the main roles. He died from cancer January 27,
1987 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center the day after he was admitted
there.
