- Head Wrestling Coach at the University of Iowa (1977-1997).
- Coached Iowa to 15 NCAA National Wrestling (nine in a row from 1978-1986) Championships and 21 Big 10 Wrestling titles.
- Won three Iowa High School State Wrestling titles.
- Graduated from Waterloo (Ia.) West High School.
- Won two NCAA Wrestling championships at Iowa State University.
- Had a combined high school and collegiate record of 182-1 and 299-6-3 overall record including national and international matches.
