Spoilers for "X-Men '97" to follow.
Love is in the air on "X-Men '97" with Rogue and ... Magneto??! Apparently, the two have a history. Now that Magneto has joined the X-Men, old feelings are surfacing.
In episode 2, "Mutant Liberation Begins," the pair share a private chat dancing around their history; Magneto tells Rogue he made a mistake by shutting Charles Xavier out (with a psychic-blocking helmet and all), saying he should've kept people who cared for him close — implicitly including Rogue too. She says she wants to keep their past buried, but at the episode's end, they meet in private again; apparently, Magneto's power can nullify Rogue's deadly touch, so she can experience intimacy with him that she can't with anyone else. A heartbroken Gambit spots Rogue exiting Magneto's office.
The third and most recent episode, "Fire Made Flesh," continued the teasing. Rogue/Magneto apparently haven't admitted the connection to their comrades,...

Wolverine's feelings for Jean Grey are revealed to be based on obsession and lust, not pure love as previously believed. Zombie Wolverine's comments twist the consensual understanding between Wolverine and Jean Grey into a creepy obsession. Their relationship is shown to be toxic and skin-deep, leading to moments that now appear more like obsession than love.
Warning: Contains Spoilers for Weapon X-Men #1! Wolverine has always been romantically interested in Jean Grey, practically since his inclusion on the X-Men. While his feelings for her are genuine, and have never been soured by a lack of reciprocation, there is a darkness under it all that a zombified variant of Wolverine just exposed, as it seems as though Logan’s feelings for Jean aren’t just based on love, but obsession.

Arno Stark, the secret brother of Iron Man, was created through a deal with an alien robot to save his life. Arno is quarantined and shut out from the world until his lung issues can be cured, leading to Tony Stark's adoption. Arno, now armed with his own Iron Man suit, plans to "save humanity" by assimilating them with robotic life through mind control. Iron Man locks him in a Virtual Armor suit to find a cure.
Iron Man’s brother, Arno Stark aka Iron Man 2020, is a man of science, innovation, and dangerous ambition. Tony Stark had a difficult relationship with his parents, Maria and Howard Stark, who kept many secrets from him. Their biggest secret is the story of their firstborn child, Arno, who was created thanks to an alien robot and then hidden from Tony and the world until adulthood.
Arno Stark’s birth was more extraterrestrial than most others.

In Original X-Men #1, the Phoenix of Earth-696 brainwashes Tony Stark so that there's nothing in the way of her conquering the world. Tony Stark's independent streak and creative genius make him a formidable opponent for the Phoenix, as seen in his Phoenix-Buster armor in Avengers vs. X-Men. The true threat in this story is Onslaught, disguised as the Dark Phoenix, and Jean assembles a team of Wolverines to stop it in the upcoming Weapon X-Men miniseries.

As revealed in The Original X-Men #1, Angel's wings can be easily grounded by removing crucial "flight feathers". Warren's wings are visually stunning but impractical and easily injured, as his history has made clear time and again. Warren has compensated for his weakness for the years, most notably when his original wings were amputated and replaced with steel wings, granted by Apocalypse in exchange for serving him as a Horseman.

Lord Superman of the Justice Lords used an exotic energy gun to eliminate the powers of the entire Justice League, proving its effectiveness as an anti-Justice League weapon. This weapon was stolen from Lex Luthor's lab and has the power to eliminate superpowers, including magic. While used for evil purposes, the main Superman could potentially use this gun to eliminate his weakness to magic, offering him a fighting chance against magic-users.
While guns aren’t really Superman’s style, one evil variant of the Man of Steel had no moral qualms about using it against all the other members of the Justice League, thereby proving its usefulness on behalf of every Superman in the multiverse. Plus, based on the origin of this weapon, it’s fair to say that every Superman in the multiverse should have access to this perfect anti-Justice League weapon.

Miles Morales now has his own version of a disturbing hero called Spiders-Man, who is made up of a collective hive mind of spiders. The cover art for Miles Morales: Spider-Man #13, created by Peach Momoko, showcases the darker side of the Marvel Universe. This new iteration of Spiders-Man, with spiders comprising the costume itself, adds an even creepier spin to the concept and could potentially become a permanent addition to the Spider-Verse.
After a tragic death early this year, one of the Spider-Verse's greatest (and most disturbing) heroes has been given a new life, this time as a variant of Miles Morales' Spider-Man rather than Peter Parker's. The Justice Lords, an alternate version of the Justice League, could still pose a threat to the DC Universe; or the reformed version, under White Adam, could be a cooler heroic alternative to the traditional League, who are currently disbanded. While White Adam has taken over control and the threat of Lord Superman is seemingly gone, there is potential for the Justice Lords to return as either heroes or antagonists. Lord Superman and Jax-Ur are shown plotting their escape from the Phantom Zone, in the last appearance of the Justice Lords' universe, leaving the possibility open for them to attack the world again in the future.

In one dark timeline, Superman and Wonder Woman's marriage is toxic as they loathe each other. Their union was a marriage in name only as they tried to end a war, but their differences were too great. Despite their natural chemistry, Superman and Wonder Woman are fundamentally opposed and would make a toxic couple.
Thanks to their longstanding friendship and natural chemistry in the main timeline, Superman and Wonder Woman are one of DC’s most iconic alternate-universe pairings. Shazam's greatest weakness is mind control, which turns him into a living weapon with no one to stop him. This weakness harms others more than Shazam himself, as he is physically invulnerable. If a villain gains control of Shazam, he becomes the deadliest member of the Justice League.
As the World’s Mightiest Mortal, Shazam has always been one of the heaviest hitters on the Justice League. But unlike peers like Superman or even Martian Manhunter, Billy Batson hasn’t really had a consistently direct weakness — like Kryptonite or fire. But just because it’s not as noticeable doesn’t mean it’s not still present, and Shazam’s greatest weakness is more of a threat to his teammates than it is to Billy himself.

Superman has a gadget that can render him powerless by preventing his cells from absorbing yellow sunlight, making it the most effective way to defeat him. The Kryptonian ability to absorb yellow sunlight was well-known on Krypton, prompting the creation of technology to block sunlight absorption. Superman's desire to be a part of humanity and his collection of Kryptonian technology in his Fortress of Solitude led to his possession of the technology to disable his own powers.

Wolverine is getting his own multiverse adventure in a new miniseries, similar to Spider-Man's Spider-Verse franchise. The upcoming series will feature multiple Wolverines from different dimensions teaming up to face a powerful enemy. The cover art reveals appearances from familiar Wolverine variants, as well as a brand-new character making her Marvel debut.
Wolverine is getting his own Across the Spider-Verse-style adventure in an all-new miniseries coming in 2024. Following the success of Spider-Man's Spider-Verse franchise (both the comics version and the movies), several Marvel characters have embarked on their own variant teams. Now, it's time for Wolverine to embark with his own team to shred through the mutant multiverse in Weapon X-Men #1, written by Christos Gage with art by Yiliway Cinar, according to an announcement from Marvel.

Zod, the son of Wonder Woman and the Justice Lord Superman, is a powerful Kryptonian/Amazonian hybrid with the ability to control Kryptonian technology. Zod's control of Kryptonian tech is so strong that he can use it from within the Phantom Zone, a prison dimension that nullifies most superpowers. This version of Zod has the potential to be as heroic as his mother, Wonder Woman, and is even more powerful than Superman himself.
As close friends and two of DC’s strongest heroes, Wonder Woman and Superman have frequently been paired up in various retcons, reboots, and alternate timelines, often resulting in Elseworlds offspring. But one surprising union between the pair led to a shockingly powerful Kryptonian/Amazonian hybrid by the name of Zod. While he’s nowhere near as evil as his Earth-0 namesake, he’s got more power than Wonder Woman or Superman could’ve expected.

Superheroes struggle with dealing with unrepentant criminals like the Joker; while killing them may seem like an option, it can lead to slippery slopes and former heroes turning to villainy. The Joker remains a major problem in the Dcu, and while lobotomizing him may be effective, true heroes like Batman would unlikely go that far to stop him.
The Joker can not be reasoned with, and he can not be contained, but one dark future shows that killing the Joker isn't the only solution to stopping him. In a world where the Justice League goes rogue, they solve their recurring criminal problems by simply lobotomizing them.

Shazam's future upgrade allows him to summon and switch places with every one of the Wizard's Champions, making him an incredibly versatile superhero within the Justice League. The ability to summon the Wizard adds a whole new level of power and magic to Shazam's arsenal, enabling him to overcome obstacles that other heroes can't. Even without the upgrade, Shazam is already one of DC's top-tier powerhouses, capable of going toe-to-toe with the Justice League's most powerful heroes. With the upgrade, he becomes the Justice League's mightiest hero.
Often referred to as the World’s Mightiest Mortal, Shazam is far and away one of the Justice League's strongest heroes. With the strength of Hercules and the stamina of Atlas, Billy Batson ranks alongside characters like Superman and Wonder Woman in terms of raw power. But one upgrade puts the former Captain Marvel into a League of his own.

Spider-Man is unable to defeat Supernova and, realizes that he must temporarily step back for the sake of the city, while both he and Supernova remain unaware of the truth behind her powers.

The Juggernaut is widely known as a brute, but his powers make him so much more. The Juggernaut's powers allow him to teleport, punch holes through reality, and conjure magic, just to name a few. While the Crimson Gem of Cyttorak isn't directly responsible for all the Juggernaut's powers, he couldn't have them without it.
Everyone knows the Juggernaut is virtually unstoppable (hence the iconic moniker). He’s powered by the demonic magic of the Crimson Gem of Cyttorak, and acted as the demon-god’s avatar on Earth for a number of years before isolating that magic and keeping it for himself. The lore surrounding the Juggernaut is one of the most fascinating and convoluted in Marvel Comics history, but the long-and-short of it is he has mystical powers that make him unstoppable - and that’s not all they do.

Marvel's original 5 teenage X-Men return in a new multiversal adventure. The story begins in a world where the X-Men replaced the Avengers, defeating Ultron and Thanos. Original X-Men #1 is coming December 20 from Marvel Comics, and will permanently strand an original teammate in the present.
Marvel just showed one of the original X-Men destroying Thanos in a single shot, proving that the Avengers' toughest adversary can't hold a candle to the mutant might of Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Beast, Iceman, and Angel. Marvel's original X-Men are once again going on an adventure through time and reality, and it begins with Thanos taking a major fall.
In a preview of Christos Gage and Greg Land's Original X-Men #1 shared by Marvel, the original five teenage X-Men meet an older version of Jean Grey. This Jean shows them an alternate path Marvel's timeline could have taken - one in which the Avengers' biggest threats are the X-Men's problem.

War Machine couldn't fight in the Battle of New York during the first Avengers film because he was busy fighting the Ten Rings in Hong Kong. The growing military threat of the Ten Rings made it impossible for him to aid Earth's Mightiest Heroes in defending New York from Loki and Thanos' army. This side mission for Rhodey actually set up the Ten Rings' international influence in the MCU years before projects like Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
While the Avengers were busy defending New York in MCU canon, War Machine actually had a reason for not being on the battlefield to assist them. The Avengers was a massive hit with fans when it debuted in 2012. It saw the official team-up of Earth's Mightiest Heroes on the big screen for the first time ever with one of the most memorable climaxes in superhero movie history.

Warning: contains spoilers for The Superior Spider-Man Returns #1A shiver just went through Peter Parker's spine as The Superior Spider-Man Returns, with the infamous Doctor Octopus proving that even when he was acting as Spider-Man, he was always Marvel's most toxic "hero." Although Doc Ock pretended to be an honorable hero while inhabiting Peter's web-slinging body, his violent tactics always left much to be desired, and he could never rise above his condescension and superiority complex.
The original Superior Spider-Man series saw Octavius taking over Parker's body as Spider-Man lay dying, inspired to take over as a "superior" Spider-Man to prove that he could be a better hero, and person than Peter ever was.

The Superior Spider-Man Returns #1 brings back Doctor Octopus and references key moments from Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2, including the quest for tritium and the infamous "power of the sun" quote. The issue pays homage to the film with nods to specific scenes, such as Otto retrieving tritium from the river and Estrella repeating the "power of the sun" quote before a reactor explodes. Incorporating elements from Spider-Man 2 into the comic adds depth to Doctor Octopus's character and may open doors for more film and MCU influences to enter comic lore. The issue is available now from Marvel Comics.

Sony's video game take on Spider-Man is about to make his debut in Marvel's Earth-616 canon in an historic Spider-Verse crossover. Insomniac Games' version of Spider-Man has become one of the most beloved variants of the iconic hero in recent memory. Not only did his first game in 2018 draw critical praise for its story and gameplay, but the design and development of the character has been held high as one of the best interpretations of Peter Parker in years. Since then, he's made his way into countless mediums representing the game, including a surprising cameo in this year's Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. However, now he's about to make his biggest leap yet as he swings into the main comics canon in a landmark online crossover.

Spider-Man's financial struggles, caused by his secret identity and worsened by his poor money management skills, have been a unique aspect of the character's relatability since 1963, and this is why Marvel will never get rid of them, regardless of how much the character has grown since then.
Spider-Man is one of the most iconic and relatable superheroes in comic book history because he has to face everyday challenges. One of the most significant aspects of Spider-Man's character is his secret identity as Peter Parker, which has caused him a great deal of financial trouble throughout his crime-fighting career. Maintaining his anonymity is crucial to protecting his loved ones and living a somewhat normal life. However, keeping his identity a secret also means that Peter can't profit from his heroic exploits. Unlike other superheroes, who can monetize their abilities or rely on their wealthy alter-egos, Spider-Man is often struggling with money problems.

It's safe to say that Hulk vs Juggernaut is the true battle of an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object. Bruce Banner's gamma-powered strength and Cain Marko's mystical abilities drawn from the Gem of Cyttorak define the strongest sluggers Earth-616 has to offer. The two have fought plenty of times, but when determining every factor, it's clear that one of these powerhouses reigns supreme over the other.
The two titans first fought in The Incredible Hulk #172 by Roy Thomas, Tony Isabella, Steve Englehart, and Herb Trimpe. Although Hulk manages to remove Juggernaut's helmet, Juggernaut isn't down. Just as an angry and helmetless Juggernaut gets up to charge at Hulk, the X-Men show up and mentally incapacitate the charging brute. Since then, they've managed to face each other several times. So after Hulk and Juggernaut's several rematches over the years, who wins more fights?

The McU's Secret Invasion adaptation is on the horizon, but the one hero who is perfect at detecting Skrulls needs to be left out of it. In 2009’s Avengers: The Initiative, 3-D Man, a member of the 50 State Initiative, finds himself caught up with the Skrull Kill Krew during the events of Secret Invasion, and his unique abilities allow him to easily detect the shape-shifting Skrulls. However, while he's a key weapon against the Skrulls in the comic event, the 3-D Man should be kept out of the MCU.
In 2008’s Secret Invasion crossover event, a decades-long plan of conquest by the nefarious Skrulls came to a head. Several heroes were revealed to be Skrull sleeper agents, put on Earth to infiltrate governments and superhero teams as a prelude to a full-scale invasion. Some of these sleeper agents had been on Earth for many years, posing as humans with no one the wiser.

The Marvel Universe relies a little too much on Iron Man's technology, to the point that it nearly destroyed the Earth. In 2009’s Avengers: The Initiative, a tie-in to the Secret Invasion crossover event, members of the Initiative join forces with a group of modified humans called the Skrull Kill Krew to help turn back the Skrulls' attack. Part of the Skrulls' invasion involves disabling nearly every piece of technology created by Stark Industries, which brings the world to its knees and exposes a serious weakness.
Iron Man is one of the foremost technological and scientific minds in the Marvel Universe, and his accomplishments and contributions are many; he has very few peers on Earth who can match his prowess with machines and technology. Using his company as a way to disseminate new technology, Iron Man has worked his way into homes and businesses all over the planet.

The X-Men might be hated and feared, but at least most of the members' accomplishments are well known - unlike those of ForgetMeNot, a tragic hero who has been forgotten by friend and foe alike.
The X-Men have always had a complicated relationship with the broader public, often being the targets of fear-based prejudice and bigotry. However, they have received some support for their heroics as well, particularly recently since they started operating openly from New York City. They have saved the world dozens of times over, sometimes in very close calls and with more than a little luck. But a story from X-Men Legacy reframes some of these adventures by revealing a secret ally who has been helping the X-Men all along, but one whose own powers have robbed him of a legacy.

Following the enactment of the Registration Act, Iron Man and Captain America ultimately split the Avengers due to their opposing viewpoints. While Steve Rogers wanted the government to stay out of all superhero activity, Iron Man and his Civil War team saw the Registration Act as the best-case scenario that should be humored to prevent something worse from coming to pass. Now, with the controversial law rescinded, a recent Marvel miniseries has officially shown that Tony's worst fears have become reality.

While Marvel Comics' jade giant has battled several frightful foes, the Incredible Hulk has a unique sparring partner in the Uncanny X-Men's resident slayer, Wolverine. With an adamantium-laced skeleton, lethal metal claws, and an acute healing factor, Wolverine has proven to be a worthy adversary for the Hulk, who has been forced to move past his own brute strength and outsmart his foe.
The rivalry between Marvel heavy hitters Hulk and Wolverine stretches back to Wolverine's original comic debut in 1974's The Incredible Hulk #181 from the late Len Wein and Herb Trimpe. The landmark issue saw the two heroes battle it out in the Canadian wilderness, beginning a lengthy rivalry that would last for decades to come. Perhaps the most brutal encounter between the two occurred in 2007's World War Hulk: X-Men tie-in miniseries by writer Christos N. Gage and Andrea Divito. Of all the villains Iron Man has faced, few compare to the Extinction Entity. Almost a hybrid between Galactus and the Superman villain Brainiac, the Entity was the threat that Iron Man 2020 - Tony Stark’s adoptive brother Arno - was destined to face. And unfortunately, that same Entity was born from Arno’s insecurities.

It's clear that the creative choice is a deliberate feminist one made to subvert audience expectations, with Buffy taking the deceptive appearance of the average horror movie victim Most audiences recognize the metaphor, but it's never been symbolized in canon during the TV show as to why the Slayer line is always women and never men—but now fans have an answer!

To combat him, Buffy has Willow conduct a spell that would give her the powers of all active Slayers. However, moments before she could consume that power,...
