He was admitted to the New York Bar in 1934. Besides writing for films, he wrote the Broadway stage score for "Seventeen". Joining ASCAP in 1940, his chief musical collaborators included J. Fred Coots, Max Steiner, Mabel Wayne, Walter Kent, and Josef Myrow.
