Coronation Street star Lisa George has praised the decision to pair up her character Beth Tinker with Kirk Sutherland. Romance begins to blossom between the unlikely couple this week after Kirk saves Beth from a nightmare date. Tonight's (September 17) Coronation Street double bill sees Beth head off to a pub to meet a potential boyfriend named Dave after making contact with him on a dating website. Kirk gives Beth a lift to the meeting, but he later turns out to be her knight in shining armour by rescuing her when Dave turns nasty. Rising Corrie star Lisa George has stated that she does not believe her character Beth Tinker is "at all" similar to Cilla Battersby-Brown.
