Jemima Khan has been asked some rather personal questions in her time. While on the promotional trail for her first feature film, the charming romcom What’s Love Got to Do with It?, which she wrote and produced, a few Australian radio DJs threw her some zingers. “Literally, one of them asked me about the difference in pillow talk between [her ex-boyfriend] Russell Brand and [her ex-husband] Imran Khan,” she says, eyebrows raised. A quote from her father, the late financier Sir James Goldsmith, springs to mind: “I live for the day when people like you choke on your own vomit.” And yet Khan remained unruffled. “Don’t ask me what I answered, but I think I did what I always do – sort of laughed it off, and then made a joke of it, which is our tendency as women, isn’t it?”
By her own admission, she has faced far worse. “Nothing really compares...

AMC Entertainment Wednesday said it’s expanded the role of CEO Adam Aron to include chairman of the board, and selected Ambassador Philip Lader to serve as lead director.
As previously announced, current non-executive chairman of the board, Lin Zhang, and Mao Jun (John) Zeng, both of Wanda, are stepping down as AMC directors following Wanda’s sale of most of its AMC shares during an eventful year where the exhibitor’s business and investor base were dramatically transformed by the global pandemic.
The giant theater chain is holding its annual shareholders’ meeting on July 29.
As CEO, “Aron has overseen the Company’s transformative growth into becoming the largest theatrical exhibitor in the United States, in Europe & the Middle East and in the world. His most recent focus has been on guiding AMC through the complexities of coronavirus pandemic. Aron has significant business and executive experience, having led as CEO...

Exclusive: Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes, a man who knows a thing or two about writing about the wealthy, has set his sights on the richest family in history for his next project.
I hear that Fellowes is developing a TV series about the Rothschild banking dynasty, who, in one generation, rose from the deprivation of the ghetto to become the richest and most powerful family in history. Fellowes is collaborating on the script with Ian Kelly (Mr Foote’s Other Leg).
Five Arrows is being produced by Jemima Khan, through her new production company Instinct Productions, and 42, the production company behind BBC and Netflix animation Watership Down and Channel 4’s forthcoming Michael Stuhlbarg and Matt Lauria-fronted drama Jerusalem.
The drama series is understood to be in development with Sky Atlantic.
The family saga is one of the ultimate rags-to-riches tales, set against the backdrop of war and revolution.

Spoiler alert! If you haven’t watched Dallas’ season 3 premiere, stop reading now. Executive producer Cynthia Cidre breaks down the big twists and teases the sex drama to come.
Entertainment Weekly: That John Ross-Emma morning sex scene sets the bar high.
Cynthia Cidre: I think there’s more sexuality this season. We tasked ourselves to be as delicious as we could. If we’re not entertaining our audience and giving them a thrilling ride, we’re not doing our job.
John Ross getting Jr’s belt buckle made me tear up.
He made me tear up, too. It was so important to him,...

If you think machines have liberated us, think again, says film-maker Adam Curtis. Instead we have lost our vision
It was amateur footage of an event involving an early video game called Pong that gave Adam Curtis the idea for his new documentary series.
In 1991, a computer engineer from California called Loren Carpenter organised a mass experiment in a huge shed. Hundreds of people were each given a paddle, and told nothing. But on a big screen in front of them was projected a game of Pong – a very basic computer game, where a ball is knocked back and forth on a screen, like table tennis. Each half of the audience jointly controlled the bat on their side of the screen; they had to operate it together and, spontaneously and without discussion, they successfully played a game of Pong, whooping and cheering at their collective collaboration.
