A headstrong female defense attorney, Supreme Court clerks and hospital nurses are at the center of three one-hour pilots that have been given the green light by Fox.
"Canterbury's Law", from Sony Pictures TV and Denis Leary's Apostle, is a drama about a rebellious female defense attorney who pushes the boundaries of the law to protect innocent clients.
Dave Erickson (USA Network's "The Perfect Husband: The Laci Peterson Story") penned the script and is co-executive producing.
Apostle's Leary and Jim Serpico are executive producers.

Paramount Pictures has pre-emptively picked up the comedy spec Dealbreaker with Peter Segal attached to direct. Segal and producing partner Michael Ewing are producing through their Callahan Filmworks along with Peter Principato and Paul Young. Written by Samantha Goodman and Andrew Stern, the script concerns a slick crisis PR guy who, in order to get out of jams, makes deals with God that he never fulfills. While drowning he makes the ultimate bargain, promising God to make good on all his previous deals, and is forced to fulfill them. The project is described as being in the vein of Liar, Liar and Family Man. Principato-Young's Allen Fischer is exec producing.

Warner Bros. Pictures has plunked down high-six figures to pick up writing team Andy Stern and Samantha Goodman's spec script A Private's Life for studio-based John Wells Prods. to produce. The script, a military thriller, tells the story of an Army psychiatrist who is brought in to perform a psychological autopsy on an Army private who was found dead. The powers that be seem to think it's an open and shut case until the psychiatrist goes beyond the call of duty to get to the bottom of it. John Wells Prods. senior vp features Laura Holstein brought the project to her company and will oversee. At Warners, the project was championed by executive vp production Kevin McCormick, who will oversee for the studio. Stern and Goodman are repped by Agency for the Performing Arts' Steve Fisher, manager Allen Fischer at Santos-Fischer and attorney Roger Arar at Loeb & Loeb. The duo also penned Idols for Brett Ratner and the Walt Disney Co.
