Spanish distributors, who have enjoyed a strong track record selling remake rights to local pics, have received a major boost this year with the Malaga Festival Industry Zone’s (Mafiz) inaugural Remake Day event on Thursday.
Leading film sales companies, among them Cinema Republic, Latido Films, Filmax and Feel Content, presented showcases of films considered particularly adaptable to foreign markets. Not surprisingly, comedies and genre pics made up most of the selections.
David Castellanos’ Cinema Republic offered one strong example with Borja Cobeaga’s hit 2009 romantic comedy “Pagafantas,” which has over the years sold to Germany, Italy and Mexico.
Cinema Republic also touted Icíar Bollaín’s “Rosa’s Wedding” (“La Boda de Rosa”), about a woman in her mid-40s who decides to finally take charge of her life and fulfill her dream of starting a business.

So Joaquin devises a plan to get to the bank first, steal some of the money and get away before the robbers ever figure out what happened except, [Continued ...]...

The production team behind Oscar winner The Secret In Their Eyes re-team for upcoming Rodrigo Grande helmed thriller Al Final Del Tunel (At The End Of The Tunnel) and if the just released trailer is any indication the results look just as impressive.Wild Tales star Leonardo Sbaraglia anchors the cast here as a wheelchair bound man who, while working in his basement one night, overhears a gang of thieves constructing a tunnel under his house to rob a nearby bank. The concept for this one is absolutely first rate and the production values look absolutely fantastic. Given the quality of the team behind the film, the quality of the trailer and the film's April 2016 release date in Argentina this one appears very much poised...

Director: Rodrigo Grande. Review: Tim Irwin. Have you ever thought about how many different countries all have their own gangster movies? America's The Godfather and Goodfellas have set the bar there, Japan has a plethora of Yakuza films, and England (at least recently) gets Guy Ritchie. Well what if you moved the stories and characters to Argentina, and tried again? That's almost how Rosarigasinos turns out to be. At the same time, imagine Butch and Sundance survived the shootout in Bolivia, and instead served 30 years in an Argentinean jail, then they are released and nothing is quite the same as they remembered. Rosarigasinos is an odd mix of everything above. Tito and Castor are old buddies and finally are released after serving 30 years in jail for (it sounds like) a variety of crimes. They are eager to reunite with the old gang who used to party all night long and have plenty of money.
