Gordon Ramsay will open the doors to London’s iconic hotel The Savoy in a five-part docuseries for British broadcaster ITV.
Ramsay has run Savoy restaurant, the Savoy Grill, since 2003 and now his production company Studio Ramsay will take viewers behind the scenes at the luxury hotel over its winter season.
The Savoy will be filmed using fixed-rig cameras, which will provide a fly-on-the-wall glimpse behind the curtain of the hotel, showcasing its staff and guests.
Ramsay, Sebastian Grant and Lisa Edwards are the executive producers. Fernando De Jesus developed the show, which will be series directed by Sam Campbell and series produced by Naomi Gayler. It was commissioned by ITV’s Kate Teckman and Sue Murphy, the broadcaster’s head of factual entertainment.
Teckman said: “With unparalleled access to the intoxicating world of this most iconic of British institutions, this is the story of The Savoy as we have never seen before.

If you lose as a contestant on The Price Is Right or Wheel of Fortune, you might get a handshake and some money to take home. But if you lose on the upcoming game show from BBC Three, your brains are eaten… at least in the spirit of the game. A new zombie reality game show is coming to BBC Three and we have the first details.

Late last year, Sony Pictures Television’s Gogglebox and Britain’s ITV got together to put a spin on the game show format by mixing in elements of horror and unleashing Release The Hounds. Now comes a new twist in a similar vein from BBC Three and Ripper Street producers Tiger Aspect. BBC Three has commissioned I Survived A Zombie Apocalypse, a seven-part hourlong horror/game show that will trap eight contestants inside a shopping mall, surrounded by the walking dead. The contestants must live by their wits, make difficult decisions, and use urban survival tactics to avoid the lethal bite of a zombie. “The Army” is on its way, but the threat will be constant as once a player is bitten, they will leave the show in “grisly style.” Network Controller Zai Bennett calls it, “a reality event on a huge scale.” Entertainment Commissioner Ruby Kuraishe adds, “This is...

If you’re like most Americans, you have a friend that likes to quote films and television shows as, more or less, a substitute for having any original things to say. For a lot these friends, The Simpsons and Anchorman seem to be the go-to sources, but frequently, something that they heard five minutes ago (that you also heard) will do, in the exact same inflection as it was spoken then. If you can imagine an entire play composed of nothing but these quotes, you can imagine the modern day challenge of performing Hamlet. To those well-versed in Shakespeare (not to say that I am), there is hardly a line delivery, a movement, or a thematic element that has not been all but completely established over the last 400 years, with most attempts at significantly modernizing them coming off as gimmicky (‘hey guys, what if we set it in corporate America?...

Chicago – Having been a theater major who openly knelt at the altar of William Shakespeare for many of my formative stage years and then later became a film critic, I believe the number of versions of “Hamlet” I have seen to number around eight - three times on stage and five on celluloid. And yet I still was blown away by BBC’s production of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre version of the timeless play.
Blu-Ray Rating: 4.5/5.0
The first version of “Hamlet” available on Blu-ray (Branagh’s 1996 version will be available in August) also happens to be the best in years. The modernized-but-faithful telling of the Bard’s classic tale of betrayal and revenge was a critical smash when it premiered at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and someone at the BBC was smart enough to suggest that perhaps a filmed record of the show might be in order.

For geeks like us here at ComicMix, a real-life mash-up can be too good to be true. So, the notion of Captain Jean-Luc Picard sharing the same stage as The Doctor is just too good to be true, even if it means watching yet another production of William Shakespeare’s Hamlet.
What many forget, though, is that Stewart is a classically trained actor so this is like mother’s milk to Sir Patrick. Tennant is also an accomplished performer and Shakespeare veteran who most certainly has greater range than what we’ve been familiar with these last five years (I strongly recommend you all go find Einstein and Edington to see what I mean).
When the two genre icons appeared on stage in London, it stirred up quite a buzz. Better yet, it was recorded and broadcast just last week on PBS’ Great Performances.
