Rose to the rank of captain in the army and used the "captain" title in
civilian life as a marketing device. He received a Bronze Star and
three Purple Heart medals in the Korean War. He was later a scout-dog
training officer at Ft. Carson (CO),l Ft. Ord (CA) and Ft. Benning (GA).
The bald-domed actor was TV's "Mr. Clean" in commercials.
A large-framed, bald actor and leading dog trainer, he opened the
Tri-State School for Dogs in New York in 1961 and became the official
dog trainer to the stars.
He trained dogs for more than 150 movies, 450 commercials, Broadway
("Annie"), and soap operas. It is estimated that he worked with over
100,000 dogs.
