Ad agency Mekanism is turning to burgeoning micro-video platform Triller to ease student anxieties in New York City, where schools are set to reopen in the fall.
With 1.1 million public school students set to return to classrooms with different protocols and formats in place, the agency has launched a social media campaign to promote a new kind of greeting to replace handshakes, fist-bumps, and high fives. The so-called Safety Shake -- which was designed to be poised for micro-video virality -- sees participants double-tapping their hearts and then extending any kind of greeting that's uniquely their own.
And Mekanism is injecting the campaign with some star wattage courtesy of influencer Curtis Roach -- the creator of the Covid-19 quarantine anthem “Bored In The House.” Roach even created his own song and dance for the Saftey Shake, which he shared with his Triller followers.

Classic cartoon lovers rejoice! That fantastic feline superstar returns to UK movie screens in just a few weeks. As the Hoyt Curtin TV theme proclaims, “…but above everything, he’s the most tip top…Top Cat!”. Tc, as close friends call him, did indeed debut on American TV screens on the then fledgling ABC network in September of 1961 (talk about your nine lives!). This show, along with “The Jetsons” and “Jonny Quest” was an attempt by animation studio Hanna-Barbera to replicate the prime time success of that “modern stone-age family “The Flintstones” just a year or so before. Unfortunately Tc was not the rating smash that Fred and company were, so only one season (30 half hour episodes) were produced. But the kitty con-artist and his pals endured as a Saturday morning staple, then a syndicated smash. As beloved as the show was in its native Us, “Top Cat” was an even bigger hit overseas,...

Top Cat, the most effectual, is the star of the show in the first trailer for Andres Couturier’s upcoming animated feature, Top Cat Begins.
A tip of the hat to the original 60s cartoon in more ways than one, Jason Harris (Rio 2) lends his vocal chords to the titular feline, headlining a crew of alley cats comprised of Fancy-Fancy, Spook, Choo-Choo, along with Brain and Benny. It is, at its core, an origins story to Hanna-Barbera’s beloved trickster, shedding light on how Harris’ Top Cat crossed paths with Benny before forming their famous gang of felines.
First released in Mexico late last year, Top Cat Begins is also a prequel to 2011 animated flick Top Cat: The Movie, though early reviews for Couturier’s cheeky feature weren’t too kind.

Viva Pictures announced today the acquisition for all U.S. rights to Top Cat: The Movie, based on the popular 1960s prime time cartoon character of the same name. Top Cat: The Movie features the voices of Jason Harris (Ice Age: Continental Drift), Chris Edgerly (Happy Feet), and Bill Lobley (Ice Age: Continental Drift). The company is planning a theatrical roll-out this summer followed by VOD, home entertainment and digital offerings.
“We are honored to be a part of this piece of cartoon history,” commented Victor Elizalde, president of Viva Pictures. “I have extremely fond memories of watching with my brothers the original television show, ‘Top Cat’ and am looking forward to sharing the big screen version with a new generation of U.S. audiences.”

I hope I’m not going to negate any of my assiduously collated street credibility, but when I was little I used to really like Top Cat. Looking back, I believe I’m correct in saying that it was a reasonably witty and funny programme and it’s not simply nostalgia that’s influencing these fond memories. I remember my sister and I used to watch a Top Cat VHS that we won in a competition run by Little Chef pretty much on loop some days. So when I was invited to attend the preview screening of Tc’s big screen debut, I was cautiously excited about it. Obviously, the film is aimed very much at youngsters, but surely there’d be plenty...

I had planned to post a series of videos of different versions of "Danny Boy" and Lucky Charms commercials in recognition of our Irish cousins and their drunken and/or magical ways. And it was impossible not to post this video of the Leprechaun Brothers with the greatest rendition of "Danny Boy" ever recorded.
Heartbreaking, right? What could top that beautiful song-smithing on the holiest day of the Irish calendar?
Explosions, implied lesbianism, bondage and commandos.
My God. It's like someone filmed every fantasy I ever had at 13. And 30. I suppose you have to do whatever you can to move an absurdly expensive house in a bad real estate market, but this . . . It couldn't be more absurd unless Gamera (who is friend to children and full of meat) came stomping through the frame for no apparent reason.
Somewhere, Michael Bay is beating his dong like it stole something.
