Superstar Billy Graham, the professional wrestler whose larger-than-life ring persona and charismatic style was hugely influential on the likes of Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, Jesse Ventura and Ric Flair, has died. He was 79.
In a tweet, Flair confirmed that Graham had died. “The Superstar Billy Graham just left us. Thank you for all your influence on my career!” Flair tweeted. No cause of death was provided but Graham had been suffering poor health for a number of years and was hospitalized in February.
Born Eldridge Wayne Coleman in Phoenix, Arizona in 1943, Graham began bodybuilding at an early age. After dabbling in boxing and pro football, he had his first taste of notoriety when he was featured in a Muscle and Fitness magazine spread with then-fellow bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger.
In 1969, he decided to enter the world of professional wrestling, and adopted the ring name Billy Graham, as a tribute to the...

Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart, a professional wrestler who was part of the Hart family wrestling dynasty and is the father of World Wrestling Entertainment star Natalya, died on August 13. He was 63
A two-time World Wrestling Federation tag team champion as part of the Hart Foundation with real-life brother-in-law Bret “The Hitman” Hart, Neidhart was a highly recognizable character in the late 1980s and early ’90s, unmistakable with his goatee and pink garb. What’s in a name? A lot when it comes to Natalya on this week’s Total Divas. Natalya is feeling a little frustrated about not being used more prominently in televised storylines. At the same time, she is questioned by some of her co-workers about why she hasn’t taken husband Tj Wilson’s last name. Natalya feels a deep connection to the Neidhart name and the lineage associated with it. This includes being the niece of Bret Hart and granddaughter of the late family patriarch, Stu Hart. She believes, instead, that Tj should consider taking her last name and be all progressive and … Continue reading →

There was a rumour a few years ago that actor Liev Schreiber was set to star in Crossface, a controversial movie about Chris Benoit.
Based on a book written by Matthew Randazzo titled “Ring Of Hell”, the film would chronicle how Benoit killed his wife Nancy and son Daniel, before committing suicide himself, all over the course of a tragic weekend at his family home in the summer of 2007.
The story first broke in July 2013 but at the time, Schreiber was quick to deny any involvement in the project, which does not have the backing of World Wrestling Entertainment.
However, in the new issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer mentioned that movie is happening, with Liev Schreiber indeed set for the lead role.
Have the producers behind the movie finally won him over, two years after they reportedly courted him for it?

WWE and Chris Jericho have defended Bill DeMott’s coaching style, following allegations by Judas Devlin of verbal and physical bullying. However, since WWE’s response, new allegations have been made against the Developmental trainer.
Ryan Collins competed for WWE in the Nxt brand. He went under the name Brandon Traven and was released in 2013. A letter he sent to WWE officials has now been leaked on reddit, with new allegations against DeMott’s inappropriate behaviour.
The key allegations include-
“Coach DeMott gets angry and standoffish at any sign of injury.”
“As he was leaving the trainers room, Coach DeMott slapped me on top of the head.” (After Traven had reported a head injury).
“I have also grown very tired of how Coach DeMott has constantly bullied us. Whether by physically hitting us, or by calling us gay. He has on numerous occasions alluded to me being gay.

WWE has always had a tendency to rebrand talent who come through their doors. Terry Boulder became Hulk Hogan, “Mean” Mark Callous became The Undertaker, “Stunning” Steve Austin became The Ringmaster, and so on.
For the most part, it seems to be not only because WWE wants to disassociate themselves from other organizations (or at least not lend them legitimacy), but also because they want a brand they can own. Naturally, this also gives them leverage over the stars who make their names there, as leaving the company can potentially leave them without marketability. Even then, some- such as The Rock and the aforementioned Hulk Hogan- have been able to take ownership of at least some of their persona (Hulk may show up in World Championship Wrestling or Total Nonstop Action, but “Real American” won’t, for instance), but in many cases, the “people” we know belong to World Wrestling Entertainment.

The WWE main roster is always changing, some wrestlers leave for whatever reason happens to cause their departure, some wrestlers move up the card because management wants to give them a push and some wrestlers move downwards, or stay still, sometimes merely because the creative team has a lack of ideas for their television character.
The last twelve months have been memorable and a lot has happened to the main WWE roster since June of 2013. So, let’s take a look at the main superstars who are on the main stage of WWE, rate them, and look at how their future in WWE looks at this moment.
The grading system is as follows:
A+ – Is/Should be one of the main faces of WWE. A true star.
A – Should be/Is in the main event scene and has the talent to stay there.
B – Should be being pushed as a future top contender.

The WWE has enjoyed a long and successful history promoting in Canada, with Canadian soil proving the home of some of the greatest wrestling matches of all time. This all stems right back to the original founding of the WWF, with Toronto as an obvious market for Vince McMahon given the proximity to New York. Over in Calgary meanwhile was veteran promoter Stu Hart, who had operated Stampede Wrestling for multiple decades. Vince learned from Stu, adopting some of his television production, taking some of his concepts in promoting. This eventually extended to McMahon even signing Stu’s sons, Bret and Owen, who would go on to become megastars for the WWF and legitimate Canadian heroes.
By the 90′s we had seen the WWF establish a permanent office in Canada, with leadership in the form of Jack Tunney and later Carl DeMarco. Promoting events in the Canadian market...

The century old Hart Family mansion is the vatican of the wrestling world, a pilgrimage young wrestlers would make to learn about the art and athleticism of working. The attractive building in Calgary, Alberta, Canada served as the wrestling school for so many of the 80′s, 90′s and 2000′s generation of wrestling stars. It came to be known as ‘The Dungeon’, a cramped low roofed basement in which Hart patriarch Stu would ‘stretch’ and teach students the fundamentals of wrestling. Those teachings would end up becoming the basis for much of the mainstream pro wrestling style of the modern era, Stu Hart indirectly instilling the formula of technical wrestling into Vince McMahon’s WWF. McMahon ended up making multiple Champions of the Dungeon alumni.

Professional wrestling and mixed martial arts have been somewhat married since their inceptions. As legit pro wrestling gave way to scripted pro wrestling, the same tactics and training techniques stuck around for decades. The likes of Billy Robinson, Judo Gene LeBell and Stu Hart transitioned their shoot wrestling abilities and parlayed them into success in pro wrestling.
Worked fights continued all the way up through the 1990s, but as the Ufc emerged, it became much easier to decipher a work from a shoot. That hasn’t stopped the two worlds from intersecting, as the likes of Ken Shamrock, Brock Lesnar, Dan Severn, Bob Sapp and several others have managed success in both Mma and pro wrestling.
Not every pro wrestling crossover has had the same level of success as the aforementioned stars, though. Some pro wrestlers that transitioned into the cage quite frankly had no business being involved with the sport,...

Professional wrestling industry is filled with colorful characters; superstars whose gimmicks range from a zombie to a clown, and if you browse through enough wrestling videos on the internet, you will also find a blow – up doll who happens to be one of the most versatile wrestlers in the world of professional wrestling today! And no, that wasn’t a joke. Sometimes, the person playing a character might not share anything with his gimmick, but that’s how the industry works.
People who play these “characters” aren’t as boring outside the squared circle either. Most of the times, you hear about incidents and stories involving these professional wrestlers that will make you cringe or laugh out loud. The wrestling fans have always been interested in wrestling road stories involving some of their favorite superstars, and quite a lot of them have found their way on the internet as well.

Lance Storm gained a reputation throughout the course of his career as one of the finest technical wrestlers in the world. A former WWE Intercontinental Champion, WCW United States Champion, and Ecw World Tag Team Champion, he was trained at the famous Hart Brothers Pro Wrestling Camp in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. After his retirement from WWE in 2005, Storm continued the tradition of wrestling education in the city by opening his own school – the Storm Wrestling Academy. Immediately, students flocked to the closest existing link to Stu Hart’s legendary “Dungeon.”

What does it mean to be a Canadian professional wrestling fan? It means that when you’re in the second grade they teach you how to apply the Sharpshooter in gym class. Okay so that’s not true, but believe me when I tell you that Canadians love professional wrestling as much as any part of the world.
Canada is not a huge country in terms of population. In terms of area it’s the second biggest to Russia, but it’s so damn cold in the north that not a lot of people live up there. The population is estimated to be around 35 million people, which is less than the reported population of the state of California (said to be about 38 million people). Throw a stick in the air and you’ll probably hit someone who can name a famous wrestler.
Here in the UK, everyone of my parents’ generation will instinctively utter one (or all) of the following names; Big Daddy, Giant Haystacks or Kendo Nagasaki. Conversely, anyone of my age will likely say The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin or The Undertaker.
Throw two sticks in the air and you’ll probably hit at least one long time fan who can reel off the names of literally hundreds of wrestlers. Throw three sticks in the air and, well, you’ll probably be escorted off the premises for throwing sticks in the air (it’s best not to push your luck).
Pro wrestling has given us more colourful characters, more dramatic storylines and, in my opinion, more exciting action, pound for pound, than almost any so-called “legitimate” sport. In the same way...

Every wrestler in the world thinks they’re ‘The Guy” but there’s only so many spots at the top. Most of the guys on this list are not only underrated and under appreciated but they are/were under utilized as well. All of these guys held a title at one time or another but did they ever hold The title? No. Not one man on this list ever became the WWE or WCW World Heavyweight Champion and that’s a damn shame.
All of the wrestlers on this list display one or more of the main characteristics that make up an elite superstar. Whether it be power, charisma, ring presence or just being a great worker, all of these guys had/have it and then some. Limiting this list to just 10 was an impossible feat but these are the guys I feel deserve it the most.

Amorim’s last English language movie was the 2008 Viggo Mortensen starrer Good, about the rise of the Nazi party in Germany as Hitler began to mind-warp good Germans into believing his disturbed ideals. A difficult movie he handled well with a great actor anchoring the project and it’s that kind of astute casting he’ll need here.
Crossface is a re-telling of the tragic double-murder suicide that rocked the wrestling world in the summer of 2007 when the decorated professional wrestler Benoit murdered his wife and young son before taking his own life during one tragic weekend. Benoit, who up until that point was thought of as one of the quietest and respectful men in the wrestling industry, has now effectively been written out of history by the WWE who never refer to...

Liev Schreiber is set to portray former WWE World Champion Chris Benoit in Crossface, a re-telling of the tragic double-murder suicide that rocked the wrestling world in the summer of 2007.
The circumstances surrounding that devastating weekend where Benoit killed his wife and young son, before committing suicide in his home, caused a media sensation that the sports entertainment industry had never before, or has seen, since.
MoviePilot.com say Schreiber will portray Benoit in the film that will cover the Canadian grappler’s early career days, right up to that horrific weekend.
The controversial ‘biographical thriller’ does not have the backing of World Wrestling Entertainment, Chris Benoit’s employer at the time, but former Weinstein Company staffer Sarah Coulter’s script does reportedly include several WWE stars, including the late Eddie Guerrero (Benoit’s good friend who died less than a year before the fatal incident from heart failure), Triple H and even Vince McMahon.

As reported a few weeks ago, Nxt has recently undergone a full overhaul and here we have its first episode review…
The cameras pan around the small gym hall, just a few hundred fans if that, occupy the hall. The previous Nxt’s yellow is still prominent throughout although there are obvious changes to its logo, stage layout and ring covers.
Jim Ross comes out and thanks the fans for attending, welcoming us all to the new beginning of Nxt. Whilst onstage he introduces the new Interim General Manager: None other than the American Dream, Dusty Rhodes.
Rhodes first port of call is to schedule the main event in which he declares that Tyson Kidd will take on the Michael Mcgullicutty. He also states that if we think the last few years of Nxt has been wild, we’ve not seen nothing yet.

The controversial ‘biographical thriller’ of former WWE World Champion Chris Benoit that covers the shocking 2007 double murder of his wife and son before he then committed suicide, will feature Kurt Angle, Triple H and the late Eddie Guerrero as characters, according to the film’s writer.
Former Weinstein Company staffer Sarah Coulter who has now completed the first draft of her script told Worst Previews;
“There are a lot of unknowns about that weekend [when the murders/suicide took place], which is probably why so many people have tried to fill in the blanks with conspiracy theories,” she explained. “Chris Benoit was behind the murders, but we still wanted to touch on several of those theories.”
“Eddie [Guerrero] is obviously very important to the story,” she said. “Triple H, Kurt Angle, they’re all there, but it’s early and things can still change.

We recently heard about "Crossface," a movie about WWE wrestler Chris Benoit, who murdered his wife and seven-year-old son before committing suicide. And now, writer Sarah Coulter has given a quick update about the direction of the film. "There are a lot of unknowns about that weekend [when the murders/suicide took place], which is probably why so many people have tried to fill in the blanks with conspiracy theories," she explained. "Chris Benoit was behind the murders, but we still wanted to touch on several of those theories." Coulter then commented on which wrestlers will be part of the film. "Eddie [Guerrero] is obviously very important to the story," she said. "Triple H, Kurt Angle, they're all there, but it's early and things can still change." Regarding whether the movie is a Chris Benoit biopic, Coulter replied: "Chris had a remarkable career. You take a look at his time in Japan and with Stu Hart, and...
