Actor James Woods has become a legend in Hollywood through his body of work, and sometime next year (or slightly later), you'll be able to see him in Rod Lurie's version of the Sam Peckinpah revenge thriller Straw Dogs , playing Tom Hedden, a smalltown Southern football coach turned alcoholic who causes problems for a young Hollywood couple, played by James Marsden and Kate Bosworth. ComingSoon.net recently visited the set of the movie in Shreveport, Louisiana, and we were able to talk to Woods first-hand about the role, as well as a project he's really invested in called An American Girl which Woods plans to direct with Kristen Stewart (the "Twilight" films) in the lead role. Rod "The Contender" Lurie is attached to direct a Screen Gems remake of director Sam Peckinpah.s Straw Dogs. The original 1971 film featured actors Dustin Hoffman as 'David Sumner', Susan George as 'Amy Sumner', Peter Vaughan as 'Tom Hedden', T.P. McKenna as 'Major John Scott' and David Warner as 'Henry Niles'. Premise focused on American mathematician Sumner and his Brit wife Amy who move back to her rural England home to escape New York City big city crime, only to be trapped and tormented by their hired help, including Amy's ex-boyfriend. The new version will star actors Kate "Superman Returns" Bosworth and Alexander "True Blood" Skarsgard to star alongside James "Cyclops" Marsden. Shooting is scheduled to start in August, working from a new script by producer Reed "The Shield" Steiner, following a Hollywood screenwriter (Marsden) who relocates with his actress wife (Bosworth) from Los Angeles, to her hometown in Mississippi.
