But, having remembered Carmen Alborch and her “intellectual lucidity” and thanked Spanish Vice-president Carmen Calvo for her support of female filmmakers, the brunt of her speech – applauded by Spain’s cultural establishment which packed out the Tabakalera’s main hall – was...

Regardless of what Elisabeth Hasselbeck intends to do when she's old and lonely, The Golden Girls proved that even straight women of a certain age can have a good time when they form a chosen family.
Now Spanish audiences will get their own version of the Girls with Las Chicas de Oro, produced by Disney Media Networks and Latin World Entertainment.
This certainly isn't the first time the classic TV show has been adapted for other countries, but this version is notable for its stars, who happen to be some of the biggest names in Spanish entertainment: Concha Velasco, Carmen Maura, Lola Herrera and Alicia Hermida.
Velasco has been on screen since 1954, primarily as a character actress. Her breakthrough role was St. Teresa of Avila in the series, Teresa de Jesus, but she is probably more recognizable as Carmen Orozco Argenta in the Spanish drama Herederos. She plays Doroti — and...

Brett Ratner’s Rat Entertainment has acquired The Unknowns, which follows a heroine whose memory of being the leader of a strange, mysterious group was erased. [Variety]
Epix has nabbed the rights to Louis C.K.’s stand-up concert film, Louis C.K.: Hilarious. More like Louis C.K.: Busy — this year, the comedian has also boasted a new sitcom, Louie, and a stint on Parks and Recreation.

I know the past 24 hours have been Avatar-tastic but I am finding it hard to contain my excitement about the James Cameron 3d epic! If you don’t know why, head over here to check out the latest trailer. Here’s your weekend fix of images – I’ve not seen these ones before so I thought I’d share them with the world (scroll down and click to enlarge). We’ve now got the full synopsis for the movie which I’ve placed below:
Avatar stars Sam Worthington, Michelle Rodriguez, Sam Rockwell, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Lola Herrera and Joel David Moore to name but a few and the movie hits cinemas Thursday, 17th December (not the date change to one day earlier!).
Avatar takes us to a spectacular world beyond imagination, where a reluctant hero embarks on an epic adventure, ultimately fighting to save the alien world he has learned to call home.
