Featuring famed directors such as Argentina’s Ariel Rotter and Spain’s Benito Zambrano, who have not only played but won at Berlin and San Sebastian respectively, Malaga’s 19-pic out of competition strand is a testament to the buyer-driven pulling power of Malaga , thanks to its significant market.
Multiple other name auteurs pack out the selection, which also includes a far stronger line is broad audience comedies than most festivals would risk.
This is certainly territory for discoveries and breakouts – a healthy Málaga tradition.
A brief drill down on titles:

“La Bandera,” produced by Álamo Producciones Audiovisuales and Idesia Films, humorously unfolds a family’s inheritance dispute, in the sense that sons, Aitor Luna and Miquel Fernández, aren’t getting what they expected from their father played by Spanish veteran actor Imanol Arias.

Tuareg guitarist Mdou Moctar and his band are back with a new song, “Funeral for Justice,” the opener and title track for his next album, out May 3 via Matador Records.
The scorching new track is stuffed with dizzying riffs that always seem to lead to downbeat punches. The lyrics embody the strong political and anti-colonial themes across the album, with Moctar addressing Africa’s leaders directly at one point (via translation): “Retake control of your countries, rich in resources / Build them and quit sleeping.”

‘Koffee With Karan’ Season 8 Episode 4 Recap & Review: Kareena Kapoor and Alia Bhatt Spill The Beans
The fourth episode of Koffee with Karan brought together two actresses who are not only related to each other through marriage but have both been considered among the best actresses to come out of the Hindi film industry. Both belong to a family of producers, directors, and actors, and despite their legacy, they have carved their own paths. One of them is a veteran, while the other has cemented herself as an exceptional artist in just ten years. Kareena Kapoor Khan and Alia Bhatt graced the Koffee Kouch, and Karan rightly described them practically as his blood. In what is being hailed as a milestone, Egyptian director Mohamed Diab recently became the first Arab helmer to direct a Marvel project when he took the reins of the limited series “Moon Knight,” while Netflix launched its latest Arab original show, “Finding Ola,” toplining Cairo-based Tunisian star Hend Sabry. Sabry plays a happy divorcee who embarks on a journey of self-discovery, reflecting changing female roles in the region and the streamer’s thematically groundbreaking Middle East strategy.
Meanwhile, Egyptian producer Mohammed Hefzy, whose production company Film Clinic was behind Netflix’s first Egyptian original skein, “Paranormal,” became a member of the 2022 Intl. Emmy Awards jury.
Hefzy points out that “Moon Knight” “opens doors for other Arab directors in the international TV arena” and notes that Marvel has also hired other behind-the-camera Egyptian talents such as editor Ahmed Hafez and composer Hesham Nazih. But still, it’s a Hollywood show.

Amber Portwood is ready to put the past behind her. The Teen Mom Og star stopped by E!'s Daily Pop on Wednesday, where she shared her intentions to end an ongoing feud with co-star Farrah Abraham. The pair has clashed for years, mostly over drama surrounding their former significant others and each reality star's respective sex tape. Portwood described Abraham as having a "very strong mind and strong opinions." She continued, "So do I. So I think it's natural for us to clash. Plus, she's crazy. We used to be friends, but I don't know what happened. I think she did things for publicity." "I still love her to death," Amber said. "She...

News obtained a cease and desist letter sent by Farrah's legal representative to her Teen Mom co-star, requesting Portwood end communication and interaction with their client over "false and defamatory statements" made about Abraham to the media. The legal document also claims Portwood has physically harassed Abraham, most recently at the 2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards and during last year's Teen Mom: Og reunion special. In the response, Amber's attorney says she is not representing the MTV reality star on the matter but forwarded the cease and desist letter to her as a courtesy. E! News...

“That is a correct assessment”
Sandwich on the ground, dead Savior and a missing motorcycle.
It does not take Dwight long to realize what may be the cause of this. He races back to the cell to witness what he already knows is true: Daryl has escaped. As Eugene is introduced to his new surroundings as Savior property, Dwight is perplexed by a note he discovered; one that reads “go now”. He is not allowed to ponder it long, because he is visited in his room by Saviors who viciously beat him as Negan and Lucile watch from the doorway.
Dwight is placed in Daryl’s cell. Negan comes a knocking and informs Dwight that Sherry is missing as well. Dwight is ordered to locate her and bring her back. Dwight gathers his things while notably distraught about losing Daryl and Sherry disappearing. He eventually...

Last Week’S Episode: Rick Goes Dumpster Diving in ‘New Best Friends’
Whose Episode Is It?
If you were worried that “The Walking Dead” was getting a bit too absurd in the back half of Season 7, then worry no more, since we’re back at the main Savior compound this week to check in on Eugene and Dwight. Each man is assessing his place in the Savior hierarchy, as Dwight must reckon with Daryl and Sherry’s escape and what that means for him, while Eugene finds that life with the Saviors might not be as bad as he feared. It’s strong parallel storytelling, making “Hostiles and Calamities” another solid entry in this half-season. It’s a grim episode, but it’s grimness with purpose.

If Sunday’s episode of The Walking Dead had revealed that things had gone badly for Eugene at the Sanctuary, nobody would have been surprised, right? But was anyone not shocked when it appeared that, instead, he himself had gone bad? Is this the beginning of the “treachery from people we trust” that we were forewarned was coming? Would Abraham’s Bff really betray Alexandria for access to video games and a jar of gherkins? Or is he merely snowing Negan & Co.? Read on, then we’ll discuss in the comments section.

The stars of "Teen Mom Og" have gone glam! Catelynn Lowell, Farrah Abraham and Amber Portwood posed for pictures together on Sunday night at the 2015 MTV Movie Awards. While there were reports that Catelynn, Amber and costar Maci Bookout didn't want to welcome Farrah back to the reality series this season, it seems they put their feud behind them for the sake of a big red carpet moment. Lowell, who welcomed daughter Novalee Reign on New Year's Day, debuted her post-baby bod in a floor-length navy gown with a white jacket over top. Abraham showed some serious skin in a cleavage-baring silver cutout gown, while Portwood opted for a short, long-sleeve white dress with a blue belt. Each of the young reality stars had a very special escort for the night! Catelynn attended the event with fiance Tyler Baltierra, Farrah brought her new boyfriend Simon Saran, and Amber walked arm-in-arm...

Sleepy Hollow reaches its mid-season break with this dramatic episode. Here's Holly's review...
This review contains spoilers.
2.11 The Akeda
Last week, sides were chosen. This week, hearts were revealed. I don’t know what percentage of Sleepyheads will agree with me, but I don’t think the first half of this season could have had a more satisfying finale. Is everything wrapped up in a tidy bow? Nope. Is everything kind of bonkers? Yep. Is everything as it should be? I think so.
As always, everything that happens - every way their inevitable paths must wind - goes back to and is dependent upon crucial relationships. This has been the case from the beginning, but it has become ever more clear this season as we’ve watched every bond be tested many times over. Some have only gotten stronger; others, to put it mildly, have suffered. It’s no surprise...

It's been a long time since the original "Teen Mom" stars first gained notoriety on "16 and Pregnant," and a lot has changed in their lives. MTV caught up with Farrah Abraham, Catelynn Lowell and Amber Portwood in three hour-long reunion specials on Sunday (Feb. 23) to see what they've been up in the past few years.
"Being Farrah"
Abraham's priority during her special was to clear up any lingering doubt about her "porn star past." She denied any allegations that she was a porn star, claiming that her sex tape was just that -- a sex tape. When it comes to her daughter Sophia, Abraham says that she isn't going to hide anything from her.
"I don't know if Sophia will understand my choices," Abraham says. "But I hope that one day she'll understand I did everything to support us and our family. I think I'm a good role model...

Original "Teen Mom" star Amber Portwood was released from prison Nov. 4 after spending 17 months locked up on drug charges. One of her castmates, Farrah Abraham, who has had her own run-ins with the law, tells RadarOnline that she thinks Portwood's imprisonment is all the fault of Gary Shirley, Portwood's ex and father of her 4-year-old daughter, Leah.
"I'm happy Amber is out of jail. She never deserved to be in jail," Abraham tells Radar. "Gary antagonized Amber while she was also dealing with stress and handling her bipolar disorder."
Although Portwood was imprisoned on drug charges, her first encounter with the law came after she was arrested for domestic violence after a physical fight with Shirley was captured by MTV cameras and aired nationwide.
"I hope Amber can now stay away from the pressures of the media and focus on her new, healthier beginning at life," Abraham says. "I hope...

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to be in charge of casting for a major network TV show, The Glee Project will give you a pretty accurate idea, says head mentor/judge Robert Ulrich. “The mechanics of casting are exactly the same, just extended over an entire season,” says the man who also serves as casting director for the Glee mothership.
The one main difference, though, is that the Glee Project kids are enrolled in “a wonderful master class combined with the most excruciating torture chamber,” and the inevitable lack of privacy and 24/7 pressure means not everyone...

This week’s Glee Project went beyond the stated task of testing the final seven contestants on their tenacity, and turned into a grueling gauntlet that pushed the would-be Damian McGintys to the physical and emotional breaking point.
“Oh no, she’s vomiting with exhaustion!” “That dude might’ve sprained his ankle!” “They aren’t really going to do a 34th take because the girl in the wheelchair can’t make a basket with her back turned to the hoop, are they?” Oh yes, they are.
Anyhow, things kicked off with a shot of Blake in a white shirt that...

Ryan Murphy and Co. sent Nellie home on last week's episode of The Glee Project, and y'all had a lot to say about it. The character assignment gave Nellie trouble and seemed a little unfair. (I agree.)
This week, they're asking the contenders to be tenacious. I've got my eye on which hopeful I think will struggle with this one.
Ali says being tenacious is seeing obstacles as opportunities. Robert says tenacity will continually push them ahead. Their homework assignment is "Survivor" by Destiny's Child, which, Aylin says is perfect since they're all survivors.
Abraham says he's tenacious because he was supposed to be an lawyer but decided to be a performer. I can't say I can see him in a suit and tie and an office every day. This definitely suits him better, I think.
Amber Riley's the guest mentor, and she's tenacious because she has stress fractures from dancing in heels.

On tonight's Teen Mom, Farrah's sister, Ashley, and her mother came to visit her and Sophia in Florida. Things went well at first, but when Farrah arrives home after running errands to find her dog covered in nail polish, all hell breaks lose. Debra admits that she fell asleep because of her long flight, so Sophia was running wild with Farrah's nail polish! Can you believe how irresponsible her mom was?! I thought she had better judgement. If she was tired, she should have never agreed to watch Sophia. When the three later go to dinner, a massive brawl ensues and Ashley even tells her mom that her and Farrah "have f**ked up lives because of you!"
Bentley got used to staying at home with Maci's boyfriend Kyle and not going to daycare, so once it came time for him to go to pre-school, he isn't too excited -- to say the least.

They may be strapped with more responsibility that your average teenager, but at least Teen Mom stars are gaining celebrity fans!
Rachel Bilson admits in the November issue of Nylon that she is "all about" ordering episodes of the MTV reality series off of iTunes. She says a little Teen Mom and Netflix is her ideal stay-in night.
But the all-too real reality series might be encouraging the 30 year old to stave off motherhood. Yup. The Heart of Dixie star says she's always wanted kids: "It's sort of an obsession," she says. Bilson, whose engagement to Star Wars actor Hayden Christensen was called off last year, says she wants to wait until everything is just right."
What, getting pregnant in high school and having a baby while living with your parents isn't inspiring you, Rachel? Well at least she gets her motherhood and drama fix courtesy Maci Bookout, Farrah Abraham,...

Amber Portwood, Catelynn Lowell, Farrah Abraham and Maci Bookout are ready to share their life stories as teen moms once again in the third season of MTV's "Teen Mom". To coincide National Day to Prevent Teen Pregnancy, MTV announced that the show is reuniting the original cast for a new chapter that begins July 5.
"MTV is doing their part to keep the national spotlight on this important issue by showing the reality of teen pregnancy and parenthood in programs like 'Teen Mom,' and by drawing attention to how teens can protect themselves," said Marisa Nightingale, Senior Media Advisor of the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy.
The new season goes deeper into the girls' lives as they confront old wounds, struggle to further their education, face strained relationships and strive to give their children the best life possible. Tensions grow higher and as always, the series gives viewers an honest,...

Had your fill of Teen Mom—and Amber Portwood? Too bad! The original cast of Teen Mom—Amber, Catelynn Lowell, Farrah Abraham and Maci Bookout—are rejoining the show when it returns for a third season Tuesday, July 5, MTV announced today. The girls' struggles have been well documented (maybe too well documented?) since they first appeared in the original 16 and Pregnant series, and MTV promises even more drama as they cope with their toddlers' "terrible twos." (Catelynn and boyfriend Tyler Baltierra's baby was adopted, but they still maintain a relationship with daughter Carly.) But wait, there's more! MTV also announced Teen Mom has been greenlit for a...

Oh, jeez, time to grab the Kleenex: MTV announced Wednesday that we can expect a third and fourth season of Teen Mom — starring the original foursome, Amber, Catelynn, Farrah, and Maci. (Season 3 is set to premiere July 5.) The news gives me conflicted feelings: Not only has the show proven to be a beneficial program for young teens that need to learn about pregnancy and safe sex, but I’ve also been eager to find out how the original foursome has been faring since season 2 wrapped. On the other hand, thanks to the tabloids, we are a little too familiar with...

Two things that don’t belong together: Teen Mom and Jersey Shore. Yes, they’re both on MTV. Yes, our knowledge of space and time and the universe tells us that they occupy the same general plane of existence. But if we could alter the space-time continuum and carefully place the two in separate alternate realities, we would. Alternate realities as far apart as alternate realities can get, however that would work.

Never one to shy away from controversy, Rosie O'Donnell has come out in support of 'Teen Mom.'
Speaking at Sundance Film Festival, O'Donnell told Us Magazine that she likes the show, and watches it with her kids.
"My daughter is 13. I watch it with her," O'Donnell said. "The rate of teenage pregnancy is up, so when my daughter saw that ['Teen Mom 2'] was on the air, I said 'Let's watch it.'"
For her, it was a way of teaching her child.
"At the end of almost every episode the mothers say they wish they used protection or waited, 'My whole life is over,' or 'I can't live the life of a teenager.' I think it sends out a positive message."
Teen Mom has had some controversial characters: Amber Portwood, who has had unending drama with her baby, and Farrah Abraham, who recently used her pay from the show to get breast implants.

Teen Mom star Farrah Abraham must be getting pretty jealous of Amber Portwood's nonstop press because she was spotted in a very Speidi-like, seemingly-staged photoshoot on an Orlando beach this morning. She was sporting a super tiny bikini. Oh, and some new boobs.
Ok, I can't exactly confirm that Farrah got breast implants, but those bad boys just appeared out of nowhere. I don't remember the girls making that much of an impression on the show.

The second batch of "Teen Mom" will premiere in January next year, Executive Producer Morgan J. Freeman announced on Tuesday, November 16. The reality show follows the lives of teenage girls during their first year of motherhood after "16 and Pregnant".
The sophomore season uses the girls from the second season of the original show although which of them have not been announced. The first season followed more closely four out of six teenagers on "16 and Pregnant" season 1.
Season 2 had actually been reported earlier this year but the shooting has not been kicked off until now. The premiere date is set for January 11 on MTV.

Young, unwed moms are becoming more powerful than the Kardashians!
Teen moms aren’t just taking over HollywoodLife.com — they’re taking over all of Hollywood! Yes, that’s right, the teen moms have overtaken the previously untouchable Kardashians. But the question is: Which teen mom is the most powerful? Farrah Abraham and Catelynn Lowell both got choked up discussing their respective mom’s abusive behavior, Maci Bookout got misty-eyed when baby daddy Ryan Edwards called her a selfish mother, and Amber Portwood lost it when she admitted to not remembering her attacks on fiancé Gary Shirley.
Why Farrah cried: Her mom recalled the time she accidentally hit Farrah… twice! I think we need to face facts: Farrah and her mom are never ever going to get along. They just don’t fit together. And I think I’ve been unfairly harsh towards Farrah this season,...

In two short years, MTV’s Teen Mom starlets have gone from pregnant and schleppy to thin and glamorous!
When MTV’s 16 and Pregnant first aired in 2009, the show’s stars were miserable, puffy and very much about to pop. In only two years, the four leading girls have gone from being confused and upset 16-year-olds to more mature, slightly glamorous mothers. It’s unbelievable — the photos show it all!
Maci Bookout, 19, gave birth to her baby boy, Bentley, nearly two years ago. While in high school in Nashville, Tenn., Maci earned good grades, but was transferred to an accelerated school when she got pregnant with her then-boyfriend, Ryan Edwards. After delivering Bentley, Maci was accepted to community college, but struggled handling it all because Ryan never helped out as a father. Flash forward two years and Maci’s thriving. She’s dating a boy named Kyle King, 22, who she wants to marry.
