Slipknot have revealed that they’ve begun rehearsing with a new mystery drummer.
The band teased the replacement for Jay Weinberg in a social media post, sharing an image of a broken drum stick with the word: “Rehearsal.”
To no surprise, fan speculation is at a fever pitch, with many convinced that Weinberg’s replacement is Eloy Casagrande based on the Promark drum stick seen in the social media post (Casagrande’s brand of choice). The timing does align, as Casagrande recently exited Sepultura in rather abrupt fashion just weeks before the Brazilian thrash band embarked on its farewell world tour.
Slipknot and their new drummer have just over a month to hone the setlist. The band is set to play its first gig of 2024 on April 27th at Sick New World in Las Vegas, followed by appearances at Welcome to Rockville in Daytona Beach, Florida, on May 12th and Sonic Temple in Columbus,...

The estate of the late Joey Jordison has sued Slipknot members Corey Taylor and Shawn “Clown” Crahan for allegedly profiting off the drummer’s death, among other accusations.
The lawsuit was actually filed in June, but only just obtained by TMZ and Blabbermouth. The suit, filed by Steamroller, Inc., which is the successor in interest of Jordison, claims that Taylor and Crahan failed to return “at least 22 items” that were the property of the late drummer after “promising to return all of Jordison’s belongings.”
The complaint alleges that those items, including “musical instruments, gear, and wardrobe,” were used “in a traveling Slipknot museum called Knotfest and line[d] their pockets with profit off of Jordison’s devoted fanbase.”
The lawsuit argues that Taylor and Crahan had agreed to give Jordison back the items upon his ouster from Slipknot in 2013, and before his passing in 2021. It reads, in part:

The drummer of Sleep Token, known only as II, has granted the first video interview with any member of the mysterious UK alt-metal band.
II spoke with drum-training platform Drumeo, which featured an hour-long video of the drummer discussing his influences and playing style, as well as running through 12 playthroughs of Sleep Token songs.
Considering the band’s music draws comparisons to classic alternative metal acts such as Slipknot and Deftones, it’s no surprise that II cited those bands’ percussionists among his core influences.
“These days, I would describe my playing style as a mixture of that signature Abe Cunningham, Deftones inspired, heavier sort of grooving with a linear style gospel influence,” II said, later adding: “When I first started playing, I — like many others in my generation — was heavily into drummers such as [late Slipknot drummer] Joey Jordison, Matt from the band Mudvayne, as well as the more extreme speed players such as Derek Roddy.

A week after he was let go by Slipknot, drummer Jay Weinberg has broken his silence via an emotional social media post. The musician says he was “heartbroken and blindsided” by the band’s decision to fire him.
Last Sunday (November 5th), Slipknot announced, “We would like to thank Jay Weinberg for his dedication and passion over the past ten years. No one can ever replace Joey Jordison’s original sound, style or energy, but Jay honored Joey’s parts and contributed to the last three albums and we, the band, and the fans appreciate it. But as ever, Slipknot is intent on evolving. The band has decided to make a creative decision, and to part ways with Jay. We wish Jay all the best and are very excited for what the future holds.”

In the spirit of Halloween, prodigious 13-year-old YouTube rocker Nandi Bushell has uploaded a drum cover of Slipknot’s “Psychosocial.”
Donning a devilish costume, Bushell takes on the dynamic drum parts of the late Joey Jordison, whose pounding steers the complex arrangement of the All Hope Is Gone track. It’s certainly an appropriate song choice for Nandi to show off her own skills behind the kit.
If you haven’t been keeping up with Nandi’s channel, the multi-instrumentalist has long since proven herself as a straight-up virtuoso…with flare to boot. The childish enthusiasm of her early clips has turned into stage-ready swagger, as she spins her sticks and grins at the camera with self-assurance. Of course, she nails the song’s iconic guitar/drum breakdown and its confounding time signature.
The positive comments have been pouring in on the post: “Good lord, I’m just imagining the...

The 13-year-old musical prodigy, Nandi Bushell, is back with a new song, and instead of a cover, this time it’s an original. Teaming up with actor Josh Brolin, Bushell has released “Sweet Nightmares,” a spooky track she wrote which arrives on the perfect date: October’s Friday the 13th. Stream the single below.
With a driving rock arrangement, “Sweet Nightmares” features a haunting, ghoulish vocal performance from Brolin, though he mostly offers interjections like “Run, run, you better run!” Taking center stage are Bushell’s vocals, which range from spitting verses about how “leaders are liars” to melodic choruses that feel equal-parts Britpop, rock, and campy horror.
For her part, Bushell explained that things which are “a bit scary and dark” are often her favorite. “My favorite movie is Batman: Dark Knight,” she said in a statement. “My favorite director is Tim Burton; my favorite computer game is Little Nightmares...

Since forming in 1999, Slipknot have famously boasted a large lineup — almost always consisting of nine members. While there have been significant changes through the years, one member who seems irreplaceable is frontman Corey Taylor — or maybe not?
Bassist Paul Gray tragically died in 2010, while drummer Joey Jordison (who would later pass away in 2021) parted ways with the band in 2013. In recent years, percussionist Chris Fehn and keyboardist Craig Jones were let go from the masked metal act. Each time, Slipknot have found a replacement and persevered as a band.
In a new interview with Rock Antenne (watch below), Corey Taylor discussed the future of Slipknot and what it would look like if other longtime members, including himself, decided to step away.
Speaking hypothetically, Taylor suggested that if he were to retire from Slipknot, he would gladly seek out his own replacement. Of course, such a scenario would only unfold if...

Los Angeles, July 2 (Ians) Grammy winning American heavy metal band Slipknot singer Corey Taylor is well known for his strong vocal dynamics, instantly shifting from melodic vocals to harsh screams and growls.
However, the 49-year old metal veteran has predicted that will not be able to maintain his vocal quality by the time he hits his 50s.
As per Female First, the ‘Duality’ and ‘Psychosocial’ hard rocker told Germany’s Rock Antenne: “As long as I can physically do it, and as long as there are people there to see it, man, I’ll continue to do it. Now, if the quality starts to fail, then I’ll know it’s time to hand it in. And I’ve already thought about it — I’ve already thought about, maybe I’ve got another five years left of physically touring like this. I try to take care of myself. I work out when I can.

Slipknot announced have parted ways with keyboardist Craig Jones, who had been a member of the band since 1996. The masked metal outfit gave no reason for the split in a social media post that was almost immediately taken down, but quickly debuted a new member at their European tour kickoff on Wednesday night (June 7th) at the Nova Rock festival in Austria.
The note posted on Slipknot’s social media pages on Wednesday, June 7th (before it was deleted) stated, “To our fans, Slipknot is announcing that we have parted ways with Craig Jones. We wish Jones all the best for the future.”
Shortly after sharing the news of Jones’ exit, the band took the stage in Austria with a new mystery member, whose masked image they shared on their social pages. On Thursday morning (June 8th), the band also shared a eerie video with a “Slipknot” backdrop in the background.

In 2017, when Rolling Stone counted down the top 100 metal albums of all time, Human, a 1991 LP by Florida outfit Death, landed at number 70. Death are widely credited with helping to launch the death-metal subgenre with their grisly, unrelenting 1987 debut Scream Bloody Gore, but by 1991, bandleader Chuck Schuldiner had more on his mind than raw extremity. Human’s opening seconds made that clear: The album’s first track, “Flattening of Emotions,” starts with a mind-bending drum intro, layering supple tom-tom rolls over pounding double bass, that sounds like a tribal riff...

So... Warner is running a little late. Maybe Zack Snyder is still exhausted from driving the Batmobile around San Diego last night. As always, Warner Bros. has added more screens, and it wraps around the audience further than every before. Aisha Tyler was brought out as a moderator of the panel, which is a nice change-up. The first big blast of footage was for "The Man From U.N.C.L.E.", and it looks like a party. I have a huge fetish for '60s spy films, and it's pretty obvious Guy Ritchie does as well. Armie Hammer and Henry Cavill look like a really solid comic and action team, and Alicia Vikander continues her triumphant 2015 with a role that looks like it's going to be huge fun. Cavill, Hammer, and Vikander walked out to sit with Tyler, and they jumped into talking about the tone of the film, which is blatantly funny...

Slipknot are now a very different band from the one that burst onto the metal scene back in 1999.
They haven’t released any material for nearly six years, and since then they’ve lost two of their founding members; bassist Paul Gray through a drug overdose in 2010 and drummer Joey Jordison – whose willing departure was announced late last year. These details don’t exactly bode well for the release of new material, yet the band are indeed working on their fifth studio release, though little is known about it. There’s been a good deal of chatter about what the album will be like. Corey Taylor the band’s frontman has said that it’s going to incorporate aspects of Iowa and Volume 3: The Subliminal Verses, while also taking the band to new grounds – in which case, we’re in for a treat.

Although he's most famously known as the drummer for iconic masked metallers Slipknot, Joey Jordison has also been a regular FEARnet favorite thanks to his many macabre side projects – including a stretch on the road with Rob Zombie and the reunion of legendary shock-rock unit Murderdolls, which he reanimated a few years ago with co-founder Wednesday 13. Jordison is still active with Slipknot, of course, but during a lengthy offline period (partly due to the death of bassist Paul Gray in 2010), he turned his creative energies from that band and focused instead on forming the industrial-metal supergroup Scar The Martyr – who have just unleashed their mammoth self-titled debut album. “I was working on new Slipknot material but I had to shelve it and wait until we all know we’re getting back together,” says Jordison. “But I couldn’t stop writing! I stayed in the studio because I had so many...

April is a banner month for Rob Zombie, who made two bloody splashes in one week: last week not only marked the theatrical release of his long-awaited feature film The Lords of Salem (check out our Salem interview with Rob here), but he also rolled out his fifth full-length solo album Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor, the first release on his own label Zodiac Swan. The follow-up to 2010's Hellbilly Deluxe 2 is a strong career move for Rob, who opted to dig deeper and tap into his late '90s roots in White Zombie, namely the legendary Astro-Creep 2000. HD2 was still a cool album in itself, and a solid sequel to Rob's career-defining solo debut, but the Z-man has wisely chosen to diversify his style while balancing his old and new musical strengths on this project. Zombie's signature sound has certainly not been overthrown for anything radically new here, but the...

First things first. This list hasn’t been compiled as some comparative list of the greatest singers and front men that I, you or anyone will ever come across. No, far from it. Far from, even, a list of my favourite singers and front men. Nor is it an accurate representation of my musical taste. I have loved and worshipped at the altar of other singers, front men, bands and artists more at any given moment, as my fleeting attention span allows, be it for their technical prowess, their performance or their myth; I’m a sucker for a tortured artist.
No, what we have here is a list to make you think and reminisce; harking back to those long forgotten days of yore, of childhood. So without further ado, and our taking-ourselves-seriously-hats left reassuringly at the door, here then, is my list of Top Ten Singers I Pretended To...
