Olivier Martinez and Agnes Bruckner have signed on to star in MGM/Lakeshore's werewolf film Blood and Chocolate. Adapted by Ehren Kruger, Blood and Chocolate is based on Annette Curtis Klause's novel about a teenage werewolf who has spent her life trying to hide the fact that she is part wolf. She must choose between her love for a human and her family after her relationship with a visiting American threatens to expose her secret. German helmer Katja von Garnier directs. Lakeshore is co-financing and co-producing the picture, which will likely be released through Sony. Lakeshore's Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi will produce alongside Daniel Bobker. Kruger will exec produce. Bruckner's recent credits include Haven and Stateside. She will also be seen in The Woods. Martinez' credits include Unfaithful, Before Night Falls and The Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone. Both actors are repped by ICM.

German helmer Katja von Garnier is in negotiations to direct MGM's upcoming werewolf flick, Blood and Chocolate. Von Garnier, who directed the 1997 hit Bandits, comes to the project after Rupert Wainwright dropped out in December to direct Revolution Studios' remake of John Carpenter's classic horror film, The Fog. Based on a script by Ehren Kruger, Blood and Chocolate is being co-financed and co-produced by Lakeshore whose Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi are producing. Daniel Bobker and Kruger also are producing. Elizabeth Ingold and Stephanie Palmer are overseeing the project for the studio. The feature is based on the book by Annette Curtis Klause and is set in a secret society of werewolves living in a modern day society. At the center of the tale is a romance between a female werewolf and a human. Von Garnier first made her mark with the German language Making Up! in 1993. Last year she directed HBO's TV movie Iron Jawed Angels. Von Garnier is repped by CAA.

Rupert Wainwright is fast becoming a staple at MGM. The Stigmata director has signed on to direct the werewolf fllm Blood and Chocolate. He also is attached to direct the studio's big-screen adaptation of The Outer Limits. Meanwhile, Lakeshore has come on board to co-finance and co-produce Blood, which is based on the book by Annette Curtis Klause and set in a secret society of werewolves living in modern-day society. The story revolves around the romance between a female werewolf and a human. Lakeshore's Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi will produce alongside Daniel Bobker (The Brothers Grimm). Ehren Kruger (The Ring), who wrote the script for Blood, will serve as an executive producer. Elizabeth Ingold and Stephanie Palmer are overseeing for the studio. Wainwright has been directing pilots, music videos and commercials and was in talks with a variety of studios on a number of feature projects following his strong performance with Stigmata, which opened at $18.1 million. His other directing credits include The Sadness of Sex and Blank Check. Wainwright is repped by UTA.
