Lucy Boynton attempts to turn back time with David Corenswet in the first trailer for the romantic feature The Greatest Hits.
Searchlight Pictures releases director Ned Benson’s movie in select theaters April 5 before it begins streaming via Hulu on April 12. Justin H. Min and Austin Crute also star in the film that premieres at this year’s South by Southwest Festival.
The Greatest Hits follows Harriet (Boynton), who realizes that her favorite songs can literally transport her through time to revisit cherished memories with former boyfriend Max (Corenswet). In the meantime, she begins exploring feelings for a new potential love interest (Min) while grappling with whether she should alter the past.
“If something happened to you, and I could stop it, but it would mean we would never meet, would you want me to?” Boynton asks a confused Corenswet in the trailer.
Later, Boynton continues to debate her options:...

Everyone has certain notable songs in their lives that can transport you back to some sacred memories that you have kept with you. What if those songs could actually take you back in time to those memories? That’s the fresh new twist on the time travel concept in the new trailer for The Greatest Hits. Ned Benson, writer and director of The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby trilogy, once again pulls double duty for this film which stars Lucy Boynton, Justin H. Min and the new Kal-El of James Gunn’s Superman, David Corenswet.
The official plot synopsis from Searchlight Pictures reads,

With great power comes great responsibility. It’s a lesson Lucy Boynton (“Bohemian Rhapsody”) grapples with in Searchlight Pictures’ “The Greatest Hits.” The studio released the film’s trailer on Thursday, March 14, 2024.
In “The Greatest Hits,” Harriet (Boynton) finds that listening to certain songs (literally) sweeps her away to another time — like, she becomes an actual time-traveler. She is able to relive special moments with her deceased boyfriend (David Corenswet of “Pearl”), and could potentially even stop the car crash that killed him from even happening. It sounds like there’s a pretty big tradeoff, however, if she takes it to that point.
And then there’s the new guy, played by Justin H. Min (“Beef”), that she meets along the way. “Throughout her journey, Harriet explores the mesmerizing link between music and memory, facing her with difficult decisions of whether altering the past is a choice worth making,” the synopsis reads.

In the big business of film, studios make announcements for television projects and sequels in big franchises, as well as reboots, retools, and remakes. However, there are those few notable auteurs that people never quite know what their next project will be. For example, there has been a lot of speculation on what the final Quentin Tarantino could possibly entail, including genre or possible plots — like the semi-popular fan theory of a Kill Bill sequel involving Vivica Fox’s character’s daughter hunting The Bride after witnessing the death of her mom, called Kill Beatrix. Paul Thomas Anderson is one of the most prestigious filmmakers of the modern era, having made such poignant Academy-nominated films like There Will Be Blood and Phantom Thread. The Film Stage is reporting that the director is perhaps gearing up to film his next movie this coming summer. The only lead to any details is...

In Episode 7 of “Euphoria” Season 2, titled “The Theater and its Double” (a canny nod to Antonin Artaud’s theory concerning the relationship between performers and their audience), viewers were finally treated to Lexi’s (Maude Apatow) autobiographical magnum opus. “Our Life,” a stage production seemingly produced with the budget of a Tony-winning musical, was a fanciful retelling of her adolescence, including characters based on her sister, Cassie (Sydney Sweeney), and best friend, Rue (Zendaya). But like any great theatrical impresario, she saved the best for last.
Lexi treated her high school crowd to a full-blown musical number set in an all-male gym, in which Ethan (Austin Abrams) — embodying a full-bro version of East Highland’s resident tortured jock, Nate (Jacob Elordi) — performs a full-out sexual rock ballet to Bonnie Tyler’s iconic “Holding Out for a Hero.” The production came complete with a hunky male ensemble, lots of well-placed squirting water bottles,...

Katherine Waterston is as fatigued as anyone by what she describes as “the absence of flow” created by a life lived on Zoom. But even from a virtual interview out of her London home, close to where she’s filming the third “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” the actress is poised, curious, and overflowing with openness about her experience filming “The World to Come.”
The ravishing romance takes place in 19th-century upstate New York, where two women (Waterston and Vanessa Kirby) cobble together an intellectual and erotic connection amid the soul-crushing frontier. It’s easily career-best work from this focused, fiercely intelligent performer who first wowed audiences in Paul Thomas Anderson’s “Inherent Vice.”

The movie news that the film community has been waiting for: Focus Features sent out an official press release giving us an update on the new unititled Paul Thomas Anderson film, which reunites him with Daniel Day-Lewis after the two collaborated on the 2007 masterpiece There Will Be Blood.

Just one night before the Oscars take over town, stars flocked to the 2015 Film Independent Spirit Awards on the Santa Monica Beach on Saturday (February 21).
Fred Armisen and Kristen Bell joined forces for co-hosting duties and put on a fabulous show as actors and actresses including Scarlett Johansson, Ethan Hawke, Jessica Chastain, Cate Blanchett, Jared Leto and Emma Stone turned up to lend their star power to the IFC airing ceremony.
As for this year's cream of the crop, Michael Keaton (Birdman), Julianne Moore (Still Alice), J.K. Simmons (Whiplash) and Patricia Arquette (Boyhood) took home top honors in the lead and supporting acting categories.
Meanwhile, in what very well may be an indicator for what's to come tomorrow at the Academy Awards, "Birdman" was recognized as Best Feature while Richard Linklater nabbed Best Director accolades for "Boyhood".

The 2015 Spirit Awards were handed out today and it was Birdman taking Best Feature and Best Actor (Michael Keaton) while Boyhood went home a double winner taking Best Director (Richard Linklater) and Best Supporting Actress (Patricia Arquette). However, while that's the result for the two big guns that will be going head-to-head at tomorrow night's Oscars, Nightcrawler was also a double winner taking Best Screenplay and Best First Feature, both awarded to writer/director Dan Gilroy. Otherwise, no big surprises with Julianne Moore (Still Alice) taking Best Actress and J.K. Simmons (Whiplash) taking Supporting Actor, Citizenfour took Best Documentary and Birdman scored a third win for Emmanuel Lubezki for Best Cinematography. Justin Simien (Dear White People) took home Best First Screenplay and, whoa!, Look!, Whiplash was also a double winner, with Tom Cross winning for Best Editing (well deserved!) and anticipated Oscar winner in the same category, Ida won Best Foreign Language Film.

Only three films -- "12 Years a Slave," "Platoon," and "The Artist" -- have won best feature at the Spirits and gone on to nab the Best Picture Oscar. Time will tell if this year's Spirit winner will follow in their footsteps. Get a complete list of the nominees with the winners in bold, below:

Eleanor Rigby (Jessica Chastain) does disappear in The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby, but that's not necessarily the film's focus: Ned Benson's directorial debut is instead a look at how a couple (Chastain and James McAvoy) grieves after a shared tragedy and what happens to their relationship in the process. Benson wrote the first script 10 years ago and gave it to Chastain to take a look. She pointed out major holes in Eleanor's story, so Benson took action by writing another script focusing on Eleanor's point of view that would later be called Her. Now, the film exists in three parts: Her,...

“The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby” premiered at one film festival 13 months ago, re-premiered at another five months ago and opened theatrically four weeks ago. But not until today can most moviegoers see the version of the film that writer-director Ned Benson, producer Cassandra Kulukundis and star and producer Jessica Chastain set out to make. In a long, strange saga that started with one screenplay, turned into two movies and then somehow morphed into a third version, “Eleanor Rigby” is finally back where it was in its triumphant premiere at the Toronto Film Festival in September, 2013 – with two films,...

What defines a demagogue but his disciples? In “The Master,” Lancaster Dodd (Philip Seymour Hoffman) is the irrepressible founder of the Cause, but his pull is finally measured by the followers—most unrequitedly the mercurial misfit Freddie Quell (Joaquin Phoenix)—who swell his ranks. “What makes the Master the Master is the way everyone treats the Master. You need that just as much as you need Phil’s brilliant performance,” says Cassandra Kulukundis, who has cast such Paul Thomas Anderson efforts as “There Will Be Blood” and “Magnolia,” and whose search on his latest was as wide-open as its narrative. “Paul goes on an instinct a lot,” Kulukundis says, “and I run around and I torture everyone to make sure they can do a million things—and Paul has a coffee with them and he’s like, ‘Yeah, that’s the guy!’ Together we agree on something.” For Freddie, the Cause’s consummate outsider-cum-insider,...

Watch the brand new trailer for A Late Quartet starring Philip Seymour Hoffman, Christopher Walken, Catherine Keener, Mark Ivanir and Imogen Poots. The film will be in theatres November 2, 2012 and is having it’s world premiere tonight at the Toronto International Film Festival. I’m a huge fan of chamber music and I know a string quartet involves years of absorbing rehearsals and performances – I’ll be eager to see how the film plays out tonight at the festival and during the upcoming awards season. You can read The Hollywood Reporter’s review Here.

James McAvoy and Jessica Chastain are set to star in the dual-film project "The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby" at Myriad Pictures says Variety.
Ned Benson writes and directs the story of a New York restaurant owner and his wife, who goes back to college. The twist is the story will be played out across two feature-length movies -- one from the husband's perspective, one from the wife's.
Each film will be stand-alone though watching them both will give better insight into their relationship. Earlier this year Joel Edgerton was attached to the male lead role, it looks like McAvoy has replaced him.
Ned Benson penned the scripts and will direct both films with shooting to kick off in July. Cassandra Kulukundis is producing.

Back in February, it was reported that Joel Edgerton and Jessica Chastain had signed on for what, to my ear, sounded like a fascinating effort: The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: His and The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Hers, a project comprised of two, connected films, both of which are set to be helmed by Ned Benson.
My curiosity was piqued by the mere layout of this experiment, which would cast both actors as the same characters in stand-alone pictures that, when combined, create the effect of “a fully, more complete look at these characters and their lives.” Each is shown from one respective viewpoint, while both chronicle the trials and tribulations of a NYC-based married couple, and how they handle “an emotional, life-altering experience”; the husband is a restaurant owner, while the wife has gone back to college.
I’m glad to say things are still going forward, but such...
