- Was a close friend of Bruce Lee. LeBell learned Jeet Kune Do under the legendary martial artist and, in exchange, he taught Lee many of his grappling techniques.
- Once choked out Steven Seagal for taking liberties with a lot of the stuntmen who were working on his movies. LeBell took exception with it and when Seagal tried to physically attack LeBell and he wound up putting Seagal in a choke hold until he was unconscious.
