But while X helps deliver a tide of bogus content to mainstream audiences, a different app is serving as ground zero for viral misinformation, while giving users the impression that they’re getting a front-row seat to the conflict.

Mock the Week, which ran for over 20 seasons on the BBC in the UK, is coming to the U.S.
Amazon Freevee has greenlit a U.S. version of the show exec produced by Trevor Noah and Dan Patterson, who was responsible for the British series.
It comes after the show, which is a mix of a panel show and stand-up comedy format, ended in the UK last year.
The series sees two teams of comedians take a satirical swipe at current news, pop culture, and world events.
In the UK, it was hosted by Dara O’Briain, and featured the likes of Hugh Dennis, Rory Bremner, Frankie Boyle, Russell Howard and Chris Addison. It originally launched in 2005 and was created by Patterson and Mark Leveson, who were behind Whose Line Is It Anyway?

At the end of Mel Brooks' 1981 sketch comedy film "History of the World, Part I" (a movie /Film once ranked higher than "The Producers"), the director included a preview for the inevitable sequel and some of the segments that might be seen therein. Whereas Brooks explored the Stone Age, Ancient Rome, and Revolutionary France in "Part I," "Part II" was to feature a Viking funeral, "Hitler on Ice," and the distant future of "Jews in Space." In 2023, the mythic second part finally came to fruition — as a six-part miniseries — with the 96-year-old Brooks writing and producing along with an entire team of the comedy world's biggest stars. Wanda Sykes, Ike Barinhotlz, Nick Kroll, and David Stassen are credited as the primary writers, and the sketches are presented in shorter snippets, skipping merrily back and forth in time.

The American Civil War of 1861-1865 is such an extensive topic due to just how vast the United States is. It is unsurprising that it has proved a fertile ground for filmmakers, and that the movies which tackle the period are largely disparate, with little in common. Some writers and directors have chosen to focus on famous figures of the war, like General Custer, or on pivotal battles like Gettysburg. Some focus on the home front and the women left behind, from Scarlett O'Hara to the women of a Virginia girls' school in "The Beguiled." Some Civil War films look more like westerns, especially when focusing on Bleeding Kansas and the guerilla warfare of Missouri.
If you look at Civil War movies through the decades, not only do the styles of hair change but also the styles of filmmaking. They include everything from silent comedies to film noir to Elvis Presley...

Rob Lee believes some players have “struggled to adapt to the pace of life” in the Barclays Premier League due to the short intervals between fixtures – but insists Newcastle United squad must get used to that if they want to end the club’s 47-year trophy drought.
The Magpies host Northampton Town at St James’ Park in the Capital One Cup Second Round on Tuesday night (7.45pm kick-off) having already played three Premier League fixtures without recording a victory.
First-team players such as Tim Krul have suggested that some of the Magpies’ squad are “knackered” already, but Newcastle legend Lee does not believe the players can use that as an excuse not to win a tournament.

Newcastle United legend Rob Lee has admitted he has a “worry” that Florian Thauvin will fail in England due to the physicality of the Barclays Premier League.
Thauvin is set to sign for the Magpies in a deal worth in the region of £14 million in the coming days, with Remy Cabella going the other way to Marseille.
And, citing Cabella’s failure to make an impact in the Premier League – the Frenchman netted just once last season – Lee suggests Thauvin may prove to be too “lightweight” to succeed in England.

Newcastle United legend Rob Lee has warned the Magpies that it would be a “big blow” if they missed out on Charlie Austin this summer – a player he believes would be a “great signing for the club”.
The Magpies are among a host of Premier League sides chasing the 26-year-old’s signature this summer but it is believed that they are unwilling to meet Queens Park Rangers’ £15 million asking price.
Yet Lee thinks the Magpies “must get” the 18-goal hitman if they are to really move forward during this window.

Three years have passed since "America's Best Dance Crew," aka "Abdc," was cancelled by MTV after seven seasons of often-spectacular performances by hip-hop dance crews. When it returns July 29, it will look very different--and have a live finale right before MTV's VMAs. The teams competing, however, will be very familiar: they're the winners of seasons 2 through 7 -- Super Cr3W, Quest Crew, We Are Heroes, I.aM.mE, and Elektrolytes -- plus a new group, Kinjaz, formed from team leaders of other dance crews, including season-one winners Jabbawockeez. The significant changes to the competition series start with the subtitle. Instead of being preceded by "Randy Jackson Presents," the show title is now "America’s Best Dance Crew: Road to the VMAs." The former "American Idol" judge turned mentor doesn't seem to be on board with the new season, as his name isn't listed among producers. Instead, it's produced by Hip...

Newcastle United legend Rob Lee has lambasted the club’s transfer policy amid their pursuit of Georginio Wijnaldum – labelling the move a “gamble”.
The Magpies are closing in on a £12 million move for Psv Eindhoven midfielder Wijnaldum and hope to secure his signature in the coming days, but Lee does not believe the Dutchman is the sort of player they should be targeting.
Instead, former Magpies midfielder Lee took to Kicca to slam Newcastle’s recruitment policy of signing “another player people have hardly ever heard of”, rather than bringing in “quality proven Premier League” signings.

There are only so many times Newcastle United supporters – never mind players – can hear John Carver talk about his “passion” and “commitment” to the head coach role.
Hull City’s home defeat to Burnley and Newcastle’s first point since February 28th have ensured that the Magpies’ Premier League destiny is in their own hands – but, if they are going to finally win a match at the 10th attempt, then their interim head coach needs to sing from a different hymn sheet.
After every single match, particularly following the eight consecutive defeats between February 28th and May 9th, Carver has taken pride in announcing that no-one could possibly be more “passionate” or “dedicated” to the role than himself. He has also enjoyed repeating over and over again that he has ensured his players have understood the importance of pulling on the black-and-white-striped shirt and giving their all.

Newcastle United legend Rob Lee claims the club have slipped so far behind their Premier League competitors that they must spend “at least” £100 million this summer in order to catch up.
The 49-year-old also believes Alan Pardew saw the Magpies’ relegation battle “coming” – and that’s why he departed for Crystal Palace at the turn of the year.
A massive squad overhaul is expected at St James’ Park if the club manages to secure their top-flight future – with players departing and others arriving. The spectrum of sci-fi and fantasy works adapted for TV grows ever-larger by the day, and now Starz has decided to throw their hat into the ring.
Today that world grows a little larger, as Deadline reports that Starz CEO Chris Albrecht has secured the rights to adapt Dean Koontz' 1985 supernatural thriller Twilight Eyes for at least a six to eight-hour miniseries.
Twilight Eyes focuses on mysterious character and self-named "Slim MacKenzie," who ues his psychic powers (the so-called twilight eyes) to hunt Goblins, beings that have the capacity to mimic human form and only experience the spectrum of negative emotions. Along with girlfriend Rya Raines and friend Joel Tuck, the three operate out of a carnival and fight monsters in Yontsdown, Pensylvania.
Koontz' work hadn't been adapted for TV since 1998's Mr. Murder, though the author had previously tried to bring Twilight Eyes to the screen earlier that decade.

Horror and sci-fi author Dean Koontz is becoming a hot property in Hollywood it seems. With a film adaptation of "Odd Thomas" in production, now comes word of another Koontz property getting adapted - for cable television.
The Starz network ("Spartacus," "Camelot") is set to produce an original limited series adaptation of Koontz' 1985 novel "Twilight Eyes" reports Deadline.
The story follows a man named Slim MacKenzie, who uses his psychic powers to hunt Goblins - monsters that have the ability to mimic human beings.
Scribe Stephen Tolkin, who adapted the Koontz novels "Intensity" and "Mr. Murder" into late 90's telemovies, has teamed with Koontz' former agent Rob Lee on the project.
The aim is to do a small series run, around 6-8 episodes, and by doing it on premium cable it allows them to keep the book's strong violence and sensuality intact. One change however is that the 1970's setting...

Deadline is reporting that Starz may be ready to roll out its first original limited series, an adaptation of Dean Koontz' 1985 novel "Twilight Eyes." The project, which centers on Slim MacKenzie, who uses his psychic powers, aka Twilight Eyes, to hunt Goblins -- monsters that have the ability to mimic human beings -- is in high-priority development. Koontz's former agent Rob Lee, now head of his own production company Bayonne Entertainment, is co-adapting with writer Stephen Tolkin, who had adapted two Koontz novels as TV movies, 1997's "Intensity" and 1998's "Mr. Murder." While the events in the book take place even before the 1980s, the adaptation will be set in present day. On the feature side, an adaptation of Koontz's Old Thomas written and to be directed by Stephen Sommers, is in pre-production with Tim Robbins, William Dafoe and Anton Yelchin starring.
