Exclusive: Netflix has another feature hit on its hands in Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead which is on its way to becoming one of the streamer’s top 10 most watched movies, bound to notch 72M viewing households in its first four weeks.
Army of the Dead, which repped the streamer’s widest theatrical release in 600 theaters prior to its drop on the service last Friday, May 21, ties with George Clooney’s The Midnight Sky as the 9th most watched feature on Netflix. The zombie ensemble movie was No. 1 overall in 70+ countries and the top film in 90+ countries.
One has to give credit to Netflix: At a time when streamers including Disney+, Hulu, Amazon, and HBO Max are shielding their viewership figures, the Reed Hastings and Ted Sarandos led entertainment company, and Scott Stuber led film studio, is actually disclosing results on the success of its movies and TV series.

Zack Snyder’s imminently-arriving “Snyder Cut” of 2017’s Justice League may be the dominant topic about the director, but his hiatus-breaking comeback with Netflix film Army of the Dead also draws near. Interestingly, while there’s still no release date for said film, it appears that its streaming giant platform is already planning to expand the zombie-battling franchise with a prequel movie and anime series. Yes, folks, an “ArmyoftheDeadverse” is nigh at Netflix.
Netflix has announced its expansion plans for, as the company puts it, a “Universe” of Snyder’s Army of the Dead, which, itself, is a sequel to his 2004 breakthrough, Dawn of the Dead. While Snyder—who directed and co-wrote the upcoming film—will certainly remain the creative fulcrum for the follow-up offerings, some interesting choices were made to handle the day-to-day duties. The prequel movie and anime series will be written by Shay Hatten, who co-wrote the...

The tennis icon has sold the rights to his life story, with the proposed film following Becker from childhood to his first Wimbledon title in 1985.
"There's a right time for everything in life," said Becker.
"Now, on the 30th anniversary of my first big win, it seems the time has come to tell the story in a movie."
The picture will be produced by German company Pantaleon Entertainment, which described it as a "big-budget international tentpole TV event".
"Boris Becker wrote sports history with his amazing victory," said CEO Dan Maag. "It's a tale of courage, determination and the unstoppable will to keep going in the face of adversity."

Directed by Nikolai Mullerschon and starring Matthias Schweighofer, Til Schweiger, Lena Headey and Joseph Fiennes, the tale of legendary German flying ace Baron Manfred von Richthofen had its market debut at the Marche du Film in Cannes.
