Last week here I wrote about the Kickstarter that’s currently running for Unmasked Volume 2. It’s still going strong, so check it out if you haven’t yet.
This week is all about the Meatspace Universe Omnibus Collection on Kickstarter. It’s a video game revenge thriller in a cyberpunk setting written by Josh Gorfain with various artists including Andrew MacLean. This Kickstarter will be funding an ambitious expansion of the Meatspace-Verse including a prequel volume and a sequel volume illustrated by one of my favorite artists, Sean Von Gorman. They currently have a little under three weeks to raise another $12,000 to reach their goal.
I got the chance to chat with Sean and Josh about this Kickstarter the other which you can read below.
Joe: Sean, Josh, what are your elevator pitches for Meatspace Volume 2?
Sean: Full Body Amputee turned Cyborg fights for Internet fame and sometimes Crime...

Writer / Director Andrew MacLean and producer Cara Marcous
Writer/director Andrew Okpeaha MacLean and producer Cara Marcous (2010 Fast Track) talk with Josh Welsh, Film Independent’s Director of Artist Development, about their film On the Ice. Set in the isolated, frozen town of Barrow, Alaska, On the Ice is the story of Iñupiaq teenagers Qualli and Aivaaq who have grown up like brothers in a tight-knit community defined as much by ancient traditions as by hip-hop and snowmobiles. Early one morning, on a seal hunt with their friend James, a tussle turns violent, and James is killed. Panic stricken, terrified and with no one to blame but themselves, Qallii and Aivaaq lie and declare the death a tragic accident. As Barrow roils with grief and his protective father becomes suspicious, Qalli stumbles through guilt-filled days, wrestling with his part in the death.

Gorillaz's Damon Albarn performs in New Jersey on Sunday

Camden, New Jersey — Over the past decade, Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett have created something that goes beyond a musical performance with the Gorillaz. And when they performed on Sunday night's Escape to Plastic Beach Tour stop in Camden, New Jersey — joined onstage by a string section, a brass section, an Arabic orchestra and new bandmembers Mick Jones and Paul Simonon of the Clash — the group took the audience on a journey of sight and sound.
In their early shows, the Gorillaz's real-life members performed behind a screen as their animated characters took center stage. Now, they've reversed roles, and the band appears in person, with Albarn as its fearless captain and everyone dressed in nautical regalia, as videos of 2D,...

"Jersey Shore" premiere party in Philadelphia
Photo: David Bui
Philadelphia — On Thursday, at the Blockley in University City hundreds of college students converged to celebrate their two favorite things, drinking and the "Jersey Shore." Co-owner and manager Nick Mucyccka said he decided to host the season-two premiere party because, " 'Jersey Shore' is like a little dirty secret that everyone likes to keep. But whether you admit it or not, you like to watch it."
As excited as the fans were to see the new season, some patrons revealed to MTV News that they were a bit disappointed to see the fist-pumping action relocated away from the nearby beaches of the Garden State for the first part of the season.
"I'm not really that pumped up for Miami," Nico Miceli admitted. "You know the...

EA has a controversial past when it comes to PR stunts. "Dante's Inferno" was the most recent example, with the campaign featuring checks for $100 mailed out to various games writers (an example of "Greed"). The company's latest stunt, a promotion for "Bulletstorm," arrived today. After briefly peering in the box, I decided there was only one person who could handle the job of uncovering the box's contents: Andrew MacLean, MTV News intern extraordinaire.
You can experience what he experienced in the video above, though I'm afraid you'll have to imagine the smell that raw meat gives off. Mad props to Andrew, he was a trooper.
I would've taken a few more high quality shots of the package, but I starting feeling queasy and had the box incinerated. Rest assured it had something to do with turning space mercenaries into meat.

After a triumphant year of mainstream success, French producer David Guetta exclaimed to MTV News, "Dance music is the next thing for the next 10 years. There's nothing you can do about it." This sentiment rings true when you consider the success of crossover and mainstream artists like Lady Gaga, Black Eyed Peas and Lmfao. And while many are already familiar with the body-moving genre, the mass population has only just gotten their first taste of dance music. In the effort to educate and preach to the unaware masses, filmmaker Stephen Alex Vasquez has set out to show the world the extensive livelihood of dance music in his documentary "The Electro Wars."
Vasquez's new film crosses borders and covers numerous genres of music. He brings his audience into the worlds of hip-hop, reggaeton and Latin dance to explain their influence and relationship with the modern dance music movement.
