Spent the early years of his life in Heligoland, an island in the North
Sea then under British sovereignty.

Mr. Hyde", so much so that he was suspected by some of being Jack the
Ripper.

stage during the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. He played
the title role in the first American production of "Cyrano de
Bergerac". He also played the role of Dick Dudgeon in the first
Broadway production of George Bernard Shaw's "The Devil's
Disciple".
