- Ironically enough for someone whose screen name was Mayo (Spanish for May), both his birth and death happened... in May.
- In 1942 Alfredo Mayo, aged 31, and "Malvaloca" costar 17-year-old Amparito Rivelles became engaged and were about to marry. Amparito's mother, actress María Fernanda Ladrón de Guevara, was firmly against it. Only 5 days before the wedding Amparo decided not to go on. " I've followed my mother's advice and I won't be married so young", she declared. "Furthermore, Alfredo is such a handsome man that I would be always jealous beside him. He has been my first and only official boyfriend, but the wedding has been suspended five days before it takes place. And I don't regret it".
- He entered the theater company of Ernesto Vilches being 18 years old. His debut in cinema was in 1935. During the Spanish civil war he was an air force lieutenant. He did theater and TV.
- Alfredo Mayo was 5' 10" (1,78 m) tall, according to an article published in the ABC newspaper on April 2, 1972, page 137.
