- "Child coordinator" for "Birthday House"on WNBC-TV. Her job was to receive the letters from kids who wanted to celebrate their birthdays with Paul Tripp. Eloise was to have been "Clarabel the Clown" on the original "Howdy Doody Show" on NBC. She and Bob Keeshan and Bob Smith (Buffalo Bob) had been on the page staff at NBC and were to present their idea for a new kid's show. The day of the presentation (know as a "pitch") Eloise was sick, so Bob Keeshan became Clarabel. The show went on the air with Bob and without Eloise. That's why Clarabel was male with a female name, and that's why Clarabel never spoke. Bob Keeshan became Captain Kangaroo on the CBS network, and Eloise worked for the competition (albeit on local TV) on WNBC's "Birthday House".
