Whoopi Goldberg hinted at how The View may have tried to discover who was leaking gossip about the show’s moderators to the press.
During a “Hot Topics” discussion on Thursday about a study that found an upside to being a gossip, the View moderators shared their thoughts on being a blabbermouth.
Goldberg voiced her disdain towards gossiping, saying she doesn’t see anything positive coming from it. Sunny Hostin, who said she enjoys her “tea,” noted that the study said you shouldn’t “shun your resident blabbermouth,” but Goldberg disagreed. “I do [shun them], because the resident blabbermouth is not checking to see if I’m comfortable with my business in the street and I don’t like it,” said the Egot winner.
Alyssa Farah Griffin, who was a White House communications director during the Trump administration, then shared how she likes to handle rumors. “You know what I like to do?...

The View co-host Meghan McCain will return to her chair on Monday, January 4, after having been away from the daytime talk show since the birth of her daughter in September.
McCain, who holds the conservative seat on the panel that includes Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin and Ana Navarro, announced her pregnancy in March and had been co-hosting remotely before the birth as a precaution due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In August, McCain swiped back at suggestions she wouldn’t return to the show at all; she has been known to butt heads with her co-hosts and guests during heated discussions.
“Why does everyone ask me if I’m getting fired or quitting every 20 seconds?” McCain said in August in response to a viewer question on Bravo’s Watch What Happens: Live With Andy Cohen. “No other host has to deal with this Bs. Yes, I’m coming back.

The ladies of “The View” are just about the only people having a good 2020 — even if they’ve been griping about most of it like the rest of us. So far this fall, “The View” has enjoyed its most-watched season in six years. Yes, that means Donald Trump’s 2020 loss has been even better business for the ABC daytime talk show than his 2016 win. For the recently completed November sweep period, “The View” averaged 3.048 million total viewers, a 13% improvement over the same time frame last year, according to Nielsen data. It was the show’s best November sweep since 2014, and brought in the show’s largest audience for any sweep period since February 2015. The show’s senior executive producer Hilary Estey McLoughlin told TheWrap that “The View” sees the election “as our Super Bowl.” Also Read: Joy Behar Slams Trump for 'Shaking Down' Supporters: 'Stop Sending Him Money' (Video) “We...

ABC News will elevate Derek Medina to executive vice president, giving him oversight of many of the Walt Disney unit’s business operations and freeing president James Goldston to devote some of his time to broader strategies.
“He will be a key partner for me in running our business who will manage our operational efforts and growth strategies and work with me and all our leaders on advancing the culture,” said Goldston in a prepared statement. The heads of marketing, global newsgathering operations, news administration, news practices and non-fiction production will report to Medina.
HIs ascension reflects the absence of a designated second-in-command executive at ABC News in recent years. Some of those duties had been taken up by Barbara Fedida, a former senior vice president who left ABC News earlier this year, and Tom Cibrowski, a former senior vice president who left in 2018 to run Disney-owned ABC station Kgo in San Francisco.

Sara Haines has been confirmed to return to ABC’s The View as a permanent co-host as the show returns next week for its 24th season, when a focus of the show will be on the final months of the 2020 presidential campaign.
Haines was previously on The View from 2016 to 2018, and departed to join the network’s GMA 3: Strahan, Sara and Keke. After the show was canceled earlier this year, Haines has filled in from time to time following the departure of Abby Huntsman.
In an interview, senior executive producer Hilary Estey McLoughlin said that Haines “is great in either place, which is rare to have somebody who is able to deal with such complex topics that we talk about on The View, and give a perspective that is smart. She brings a lot of zest to the conversation, in addition to being very relatable at the same time.

Update, with video Abby Huntsman announced on The View today that she is leaving the show to help run her father Jon Huntsman’s gubernatorial campaign in Utah, as well as to spend more time with her family.
“This panel is pretty special,” she said on The View. “It always will go down as a pretty crucial time for this show, and I always will appreciate this opportunity, but as you guys known, my number one priority has always been my family.”

The View moderator Whoopi Goldberg and co-hosts Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Meghan McCain and Abby Huntsman were back at the Hot Topics table today, putting an end to summer-long speculation that one or another of the women would be taking a hike.
McCain, in particular, had been the subject of the will-she-or-won’t-she rumors, especially after she revealed in July that she’d secretly suffered a miscarriage last season. In a New York Times op-ed piece, the daughter of John McCain wrote that confirmation of the miscarriage came “at the worst possible time,” just before the show’s photo shoot.
“I look back at those pictures now, and I see a woman hiding her shock and sorrow,” McCain wrote. “I am posed for the camera, looking stern and strong, representing my fellow conservative women across the country. But inside, I am dying. Inside, my baby is dying.”

Senior Legal Correspondent for ABC News and former prosecutor Sunny Hostin is seeking for truth and justice in the Investigation Discovery series Truth About Murder with Sunny Hostin. After showing rough-cut footage of Hostin investigating a murder, she was joined on the TCA stage by Executive Producers Hilary Estey McLoughlin and Terence Noonan.
During the session, Hostin, who also serves as an Executive Producer, shared a story about how her uncle was dating a married woman and how one day when she was with them, her husband came home and he pulled out a butcher knife and tried to stab her uncle to death. She said that he lived but he was never the same after that.
“I mentioned to my dad recently that experience colored my life. His response was, ‘You remembered that?'” said the co-host of The View. “We never spoke about it. That’s how victims of crime deal with it.

Meghan McCain gained wider renown on this season of “The View” as the show focused more intently on politics. But that development may also have made the program’s own internal politics more difficult to bear.
ABC News said in a statement Wednesday that it expects McCain to return to the program’s next cycle, even as a report in The Daily Beast suggests the daughter of former Senator John McCain is “seriously considering calling it quits” before the program enters its 23rd season.
“The co-hosts and The View have had an incredible season and we expect them all back for an epic year ahead,” ABC News said in a statement.
McCain has made waves since leaving Fox News Channel in the fall of 2017 to take part in the ABC talk-fest. At the time, she had built a career out of a hodgepodge of various activities, including stints at The Daily Beast,...

ABC has responded to a report suggesting Megan McCain has one foot out the door as host of The View, asserting that all of the show’s hosts will return next season.
“The co-hosts and The View have had an incredible season and we expect them all back for an epic year ahead,” a network spokesperson said in a statement.
The Daily Beast reported earlier Wednesday that the 34-year-old daughter of the late Sen. John McCain is “feeling like a caged animal,” in the words of a show source. A different, unnamed insider told the site that McCain feels “so exhausted and defeated” by the on-air free-for-all. She joined the show in 2017.
More than two decades into its run, the show has reached peak levels of relevance in the political arena and was the subject of a bestselling book earlier this year by Ramin Setoodeh of Deadline sister publication Variety.

“The View” is looking up this season — five percent above last year, to be exact. Season-to-date, the ABC News talker has averaged 2.910 million total viewers per episode, according to Nielsen. That’s just 3,000 overall audience members shy of the 2014-2015 average. Between those two runs, in 2015-2016, the daytime series brought in 2.757 million viewers.
