The glass slippers still fit Brandy. The singer’s long-awaited return as Cinderella in a new Disney television movie has been given an official first look, courtesy of footage from the set of “Descendants: Rise of Red.” Brandy is reprising the role of Cinderella 26 years after becoming the princess opposite Whitney Houston’s Fairy Godmother in the 1997 television movie “Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella.”

Whitney Houston was right: "Impossible things are happening every day." The first Black woman to ever play Cinderella on screen and the Vocal Bible herself, Brandy will be wearing her glass slippers once again as she reprises the role for the "Descendants" prequel film, "The Pocketwatch" for Disney+, according to Variety. Brandy first played the role in the 1997 "Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella" made-for-tv movie. At the time of release, the film was the most expensive made-for-tv film in history, a delightfully zany adaptation of the classic tale featuring catchy songs, an unbelievable costume design from Ellen Mirojnick, and a racially diverse cast that was a revolution.

Brandy is getting refitted for a pair of glass slippers because she’s about to reprise her role as Cinderella for a new installment of The Descendants franchise! The uber-talented singer and actress is traveling to the kingdom of Auradon for The Pocketwatch, set in a corrupted Wonderland, where Jabberwockys hide in the shadows, caterpillars philosophize, and heads will roll.
In The Pocketwatch, Red (Kylie Cantrall), the teenage daughter of the Queen of Hearts, and Chloe (Malia Baker), the adolescent daughter of Cinderella, cross paths at a meaningful celebration at Auradon when unexpected chaos throws Wonderland into further disarray. “In order to prevent an impending coup, they must join forces to travel back in time, via a magical pocket watch created by the Mad Hatter’s son, to stop an event that would lead to grave consequences,” reads the feature’s official logline.

One of Disney’s most beloved princesses is coming back onscreen. Brandy will reprise her role as Cinderella for a new Disney+ film in the “Descendants” franchise.
Brandy previously famously portrayed the fairytale princess in a TV film adaptation of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” musical, which was watched by 60 million viewers when it first aired on ABC in 1997. The film’s inclusive and diverse casting — which included Brandy as the first Black woman to play Cinderella, Whitney Houston and Whoopi Goldberg as the Fairy Godmother and the Queen, and Paolo Montalbán as a Filipino Prince Charming — was widely regarded as groundbreaking, and the film has since become considered a classic. This August, Brandy reunited with the cast of the film for an ABC special to celebrate its 25th anniversary. The new “Descendants” film, currently under the working title “The Pocketwatch,” will be the first time in the role since the 1997 film.

She’s lookin’ swell, fellas! Bette Midler’s anticipated Broadway revival of “Hello, Dolly!” broke the record for most first-day ticket sales for any Broadway show in history, totaling $9.08 million. Looks like Midler and the matchmaking Dolly are a match made in heaven. It was announced earlier this year that Midler will fill she shoes of Carol Channing (who won a Tony for originating the titular Dolly in 1964) and Barbra Streisand (who brought the role to the big screen in 1969) as the now-iconic matchmaker and New York socialite Dolly. Apparently we’re not the only ones who get giddy thinking about Midler bringing the house down with “When the Parade Passes By!” Under the direction of Jerry Zaks, Tony winner David Hyde Pierce will join Midler on the Shubert Theatre stage as Horace Vandergelder. It was announced last week that alongside this leading duo will be Kate Baldwin, Gavin Creel,...

Melanie Moore has claimed that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes's 5-year-old daughter Suri is scared of her. The So You Think You Can Dance season eight winner told Us Weekly that she was excited to meet Suri backstage at the show when Katie Holmes joined the panel as a guest judge last month. However, the 19-year-old's exuberance proved to be too much for Suri, who Melanie described as "terrified" during their time together. "I was more nervous talking to Suri than (more)...

From the moment she dazzled the judges with her audition on the Season 8 premiere of So You Think You Can Dance, Melanie Moore looked like a serious contender for the title of America’s Favorite Dancer. And over the next four months, the 19-year-old Georgia pixie maintained that front-runner status, eventually taking home the crown on the Aug. 11 season finale, and scoring promises of job offers from Lady Gaga and movie director Kenny Ortega along the way. TVLine caught up with Melanie to talk about her memorable “Return to Stone” dance with Marko Germar, her “leap of faith” with Sytycd All-Star Neil Haskell,...

Melanie Moore won So You Think You Can Dance's eighth after getting almost half of viewer votes, but she expected that she'd follow in previous front-runners' footsteps and lose because people thought she'd win. After complimenting Sasha Mallory, who received 32 percent of viewers' votes compared to 47 for Melanie (and just 21 percent for both third place Marko Germar and fourth place Tadd Gadduang combined), Melanie noted that "they've been calling me a favorite...

The 19-year-old contemporary dancer was crowned the winner of the Fox competition's eighth season on Thursday, and told reporters following her win that she is looking forward to what the future holds. On GaGa's offer to bring Moore on the road during her guest judging stint on the show, the dancer said: "I would definitely be interested in going on tour with Lady GaGa! I think she's an amazing artist and I've seen a lot of her stuff. "I never got to go to her tour but my best friend is literally obsessed with her, she loves her so much. Melanie Moore has confessed that she expected Sasha Mallory to win this season of So You Think You Can Dance. Moore took home the grand prize during Thursday night's season finale of the Fox competition while Mallory came in second place. Speaking to reporters on Friday, the 19-year-old contemporary dancer said that she was inspired by Mallory and third and fourth place competitors Marko Germar and Tadd Guaddang, and was unsure who would ultimately be victorious. "I really thought Sasha was going to win! She's such an amazing dancer and I'm so inspired by her. Plus they'd been calling me the favorite for a while and usually the front-runner doesn't win because for some reason or another it doesn't turn out that way," Moore explained. "I didn't expect it at all. Sasha has really improved so much and hit her (more)...

Less than 24 hours after So You Think You Can Dance frontrunner Melanie Moore received 47 percent of the vote to be named America’s Favorite Dancer, she shared her feelings with EW. “I feel so blessed,” she says. Then in uncharacteristic fashion, the Georgia pixie admitted that she was confident going in to the finale because she was ”out for blood.” So what else did Melanie have to say that will surprise you? Melanie Moore didn't have anything to say but "thank you" when she won 'So You Think You Can Dance.' Friday on 'Good Day La' (weekdays, 9Am Pt on Fox), she'd had a little more time to digest and collect her thoughts about what's next after winning $250,000 and a Gatorade endorsement.
Moore seems most excited about the fact that producer/director/choreographer Kenny Ortega, who is working on a remake of his film 'Dirty Dancing,' has expressed interest in working with her. "Yes!" she said. "I hope so. And everybody saw that, too. It's a verbal contract, right? Yeah."

With the confetti settled on Melanie Moore's "So You Think You Can Dance" victory, we now look ahead to those dark nine months of every year where we don't get to watch one of our favorite shows.
In the interest of letting it linger just a little bit longer, we've come up with our favorite five dances from the 19-year-old Season 8 champ's time on the show. There are few showcased during last night's finale and a few that didn't seem to warrant an encore, but we love them all equally.
So here they are in no particular order...
Melanie and Marko, "Light Bulb"
Obviously the finale can't dwell entirely on the top 4, but we were surprised not to see Dee Caspary's contemporary get any love from the judges. It was one of the strongest collaborations between Melanie and Marko and one of our favorites from the entire season:
