This Halo article contains spoilers.
There’s no denying that the Halo season 2 finale delivered the goods, not only finally getting Master Chief and Cortana to the ring itself but also setting up storylines from the original game that will hopefully pay off in big ways in a third season. But despite a cliffhanger finale that introduced both 343 Guilty Spark and the Flood parasite, and that ended with John-117 preparing to trek deeper into the depths of the ring, we still haven’t heard anything about Halo season 3.
Not that the Halo team isn’t already thinking about what could come next. In fact, judging from comments made earlier this year, they’re more than ready to finish the fight.
“You always have to assume the best, right? And you wanna be writing with that long-term view in mind. So, definitely there’s story beyond season 2. We would love to be able to explore,...

With Episode 6 of Halo Season 2 now on Paramount+, the release dates for Episodes 7 and 8 have been locked in.
The latest installment of the show had some massive developments.
For one, Pablo Schreiber’s Master Chief came across Kate Kennedy’s Kai for the first time since the fall of Reach, leading to a brutal beatdown between friends as they disagreed on the proper course of action. The entire exchange led to Kai finally confronting Joseph Morgan’s James Ackerson about everything that has happened, much of which he had no idea about.

Video games have always had a hit-or-miss relationship with adaptations. For every fantastic movie or series, there are countless mediocre cahs-grabs that pad studio IP and disappoint fans. But, most of those lackluster productions seem to be a thing of the past as we have entered a wonderful era of quality video game series and films. Two years ago, the long-awaited live-action take on Halo arrived on Paramount+ with Pablo Schreiber in the lead as Master Chief. The series was good enough to warrant a renewal but with a new showrunner brought in to pull the story in a new direction. The result is the far superior second season of Halo, premiering this week (read our review Here).

Plot: In season two, Master Chief John-117 leads his team of elite Spartans against the alien threat known as the Covenant. Review: Halo debuted in 2022 with fifteen years of development baggage heaped on top of it. With sky-high expectations for the series, anything less than a seismic shift in video game adaptations was bound to fail. Halo debuted with a muted response that found the Game of Thrones-esque intrigue and conspiracies distracting from what made the game one of the biggest franchises in history.

Almost two years ago, the decades-long struggle to bring an adaptation of the beloved video game franchise "Halo" to life finally resulted in, well, a seriously underwhelming Paramount+ show. The fact that the live-action debut of the Master Chief, his Spartan super-soldiers, and their epic war against the alien Covenant had to be relegated to a streaming service, as opposed to receiving the full red carpet treatment on the big screen, was probably an indictment in and of itself. It spoke poorly of this irrevocably Silicon Valley-influenced studio system we currently find ourselves in, and of the lack of ambition and imagination of the decisionmakers involved. Ultimately, it also revealed our own shortcomings as an audience -- one that couldn't simply be satisfied with a number of tremendously well-realized stories told in their perfect medium.

After many years in development hell, a live-action adaptation of the Halo video game franchise finally made its way out into the world as a Paramount+ streaming series back in 2022, with the first episode of the show quickly becoming Paramount+’s most-watched premiere. But while the TV series is returning for a second season, which is scheduled to begin streaming on February 8th, the first season wasn’t met with overwhelming positivity, as many fans of the video game source material were disappointed by some of the choices made for the adaptation. Not even star Pablo Schreiber, who plays the character Master Chief on the show, was entirely happy with that first season. Speaking with SFX Magazine, Schreiber revealed there was even one element that he felt was a huge mistake: the romantic storyline with Master Chief and Makee (Charlie Murphy), which even included a sex scene.

Paramount+ revealed the official trailer for Halo‘s second season, which has Pablo Schreiber returning as Master Chief John-117 as he leads a team of elite Spartans against the alien threat known as the Covenant.
The new season has showrunner David Wiener (Brave New World) taking over for last season’s Steven Kane, who oversaw physical production on the first season in Budapest, and Kyle Killen, who supervised writing and production in the United States.
The new footage shows plenty of space action, though it appears a bit dim and murky (at least, in this trailer):
Wiener, Schreiber and newcast member Joseph Morgan had unveiled the first new footage for season two at Ccxp in São Paulo in December.

"Halo" is a blockbuster video game franchise if there ever was one, so it's surprising that the TV adaptation met such a muted response when it premiered on Paramount+ on March 24, 2022. Despite debuting to apparently historic numbers on Paramount+ (apparently because streaming platforms like Paramount+ don't release their actual numbers before making proclamations such as these), /Film's Jeremy Mathai found "Halo" season 1 to be a slow start, but not devoid of promise. The series was renewed for a season 2 right out of the gate, however, and the first look trailer was just screened for attendees at this year's Ccpx 2023.
Set in the 26th century, "Halo" follows humanity in a war for survival with the Covenant, an alliance of alien conquerors who fanatically worship the extinct Forerunners. Humanity's greatest weapons are the Spartans, cyborg super-soldiers trained from childhood. One of their numbers is the series' protagonist: Master Chief John-117, played by...

“Halo” Season 2 is almost here, and it looks like Master Chief has his work cut out for him.
Paramount+ announced Saturday that the second season of the video game-based series will premiere on Feb. 8, sharing a dramatic teaser trailer. Instrumental music scores a rousing speech as our heroes embark on a doomed mission.
“You deserve the truth,” the trailer’s rousing speech begins. “The enemy is at our gates. Their numbers are overwhelming. Any Marine who makes this stand with us will not survive the day.”
But, there’s a reason for that sacrifice: “For every moment we hold the enemy at bay, more innocent people can escape. When they do, they will go forth and tell the story that you write today. You will be remembered.”
The word “remembered” echoes over the rest of the trailer as we see more action, including human-alien physical combat.

A musical inspired by Gwyneth Paltrow‘s ski trial is opening soon!
Earlier this year, the 50-year-old actress was involved in a civil trial after retired optometrist Terry Sanderson sued her, alleging that Gwyneth collided with him from behind while he was skiing with an instructor at Deer Valley Resort in Utah in February 2016.
Gwyneth was awarded a symbolic $1 at the end of the trial, as Terry was ruled 100% at fault for the crash.
Keep reading to find out more…
Gwyneth Goes Skiing, a comedy musical based the trial, will open on December 13 at London’s Pleasance Theater.
The synopsis reads: “She’s the Goop-founding, Door-Sliding, Shakespeare-In-Loving, consciously-uncoupling Hollywood superstar. He’s a retired Optometrist from Utah. In 2016, they went skiing. On the slopes of Deer Valley, their worlds collided, and so did they — literally. Ouch. Seven years later in 2023, they went to court. Double ouch. This is their story.

A little over six months ago, Gwyneth Paltrow — an actress who has won an Oscar, a Golden Globe, and an Emmy (an Eggo?) — won one whole dollar in a civil suit against a retired optometrist who collided with her while skiing. The prize was the result of a surreal two-week trial that stopped just short of a cause célèbre due to the meme-ably absurd nature of how it unfolded. Now, all of the proceedings’ head-scratching moments (like when Paltrow joked with opposing counsel that she’s shrinking and all that...

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow‘s legal battle with a skiing optometrist has got the musical treatment. ‘Gwyneth Goes Skiing’ is set to debut in London this December. Linus Karp will star as Paltrow while Terry Sanderson, the optometrist who collided with her on a Utah ski slope in 2016, is played by Joseph Martin, reports Variety. The show features original music by singer and songwriter Leland.
‘Gwyneth Goes Skiing’ is based on the court trial between Paltrow and Sanderson that took place earlier this year.
As per Variety, Sanderson filed suit against the ‘Sliding Doors’ star after their collision, claiming he was left with a concussion, four broken ribs and a brain injury. He originally sought $3.1 million in compensation. Paltrow, who said Sanderson was the one who had skied into her, counter-sued for $1 and attorney fees.

The live-action Titans series had tremendous potential, from its source material to the pedigrees of the talent bringing the heroes to television. Titans failed to work from the first episode to the last. As a television series, it needed a bigger budget for better effects, and the caliber of actors needed to be stronger to pull off these larger-than-life personalities.
Most of the storylines were drawn from Marv Wolfman and George Pérez’s seminal run from the early 1980s or the early issues from Geoff Johns and Mike McKone’s run in the 2000s. Both required a consistent tonality along with a budget to make the scope of the stories work.
In the fourth and final series, out now on disc from Warner Home Entertainment, the series tackled both Lex Luthor and Brother Blood. Either one could easily have been the Big Bad for these last dozen episodes, but they split the focus and,...

We're in the home stretch of Titans now, and it's good to be back.
Usually, I'm not fond of two-episode drops, but Titans Season 4 Episode 7 and Titans Season 4 Episode 8 go hand-in-hand to usher in the final conflicts as we head toward the finish line.
Titans hasn't been the most consistent series, but the two-part midseason premiere was the most fun I've had watching the show in a long time.
The series has benefited from scaling back the number of characters per episode. It allows us to dig deeper into their motivations and ponder what's to come before their stories wrap up.
Caul's Folley reminded me very much of Westview from WandaVision, and that's not a bad thing.
There was some initial apprehension, but the story of this town being used to hide the horn that can bring Trigon back to decimate the world was far more interesting than I first expected.

Spoiler alert for The Vampire Diaries, but even the human characters didn’t stay human for long. Nina Dobrev played Elena on the show, the center of the love triangle between Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley). Candice King played Caroline, and both became vampires by the second season. It was a surprise to them both.

King and Dobrev were on a Television Critics Association panel for The Kick-Ass Women of The CW in January 2011, midway through The Vampire Diaries’ second season. Both characters had already turned so the actors reflected on the surprise. The Vampire Diaries is now streaming on HBO Max and Peacock.

When Dobrev began The Vampire Diaries, she knew there were some differences between her Elena and the L.J. Smith books.
